Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Staring at the woman and your wolf, and realizing that your life has been filled with lies and falsehoods, was more painful than getting rejected. She couldn't believe what she had heard. The man, the alpha whom she hated with passion and who treated her like shit, is her mate. She had been forcefully married to her second chance mate all this while, and she never knew.
"And how do I cure the king then, and how will I meet you again? I have a lot of questions to ask you," Aurora said.
The Luna approached her, placing her hands on her shoulders, giving her a smile. "I'm always here to guide you, give you answers, and I promise you that you will not be alone. But you need to be fast in curing the King. Like I said, you will figure it out once you approach. You are the healer, and you are important,"
The woman said. She wrapped her arms around Aurora, as if giving her a hug. Aurora felt a different kind of energy seep into her, something she couldn't pinpoint exactly.
When she opened her eyes, the dim light of the room caused her eyes to sting due to the lack of light. Looking around, she found herself back in the room where it all began. The mirror was staring back at her, but this time, she saw herself staring right back at her.
"The alpha!" she whispered, her breath catching at the thought of the alpha dying, her mate.
"Phoenix?" she whispered. Was her wolf back? She wasn't sure she could do this alone. Damn, she wasn't even sure of what she was doing; she felt so totally confused.
"Yes, Best friend," a voice said within her head. A smile slipped through her face as she breathed in slowly with happiness; her wolf was back.
"We need to save our mate," Phoenix said, and Aurora nodded in agreement.
Quickly, she dashed out of the room with so much force that it surprised her. The hallway was quiet, eerily so.
The castle wasn't meant to be quiet unless something awful had happened.
"I feel dread, I see red," Aurora said. She felt a dreadful feeling within her, a sense that something was wrong, and she hoped she wasn't too late.
Opening the door to the alpha's chamber where he was kept, the aura she got from the room screamed death. The alpha was still in the same position she had left him in, while Oliver stood beside him with two other men. They looked down, wearing expressions she had never seen on anyone from the Steelheart pack. They looked broken.
"Luna, you're back. We were searching for you. We were about to round up some of the men to go search for you. Maybe you ran off after hearing the sad news..."
"What happened to the alpha?" Aurora asked, quickly walking towards him. Gently placing her hands on his forehead, she found his body awfully cold, his face white, and his lips reddened.
"No, this is not possible. This is not possible," Aurora said, shaking her head with force. Even though she hated this awfully handsome man, she wasn't ready to lose him, especially after figuring out that he was her second chance mate. She had lots of questions to ask him. She needed him alive, and his pack needed him alive.
"The alpha king is dead," Beta Oliver said, shaking his head with pain as he watched Aurora slump to the floor, heartbroken, while clinging to the alpha's arm.
"How long was I gone?" Aurora asked. How could the King die already? She hadn't spent up to an hour on the other side with the Luna.
"You were gone for eight hours," Oliver said, watching as tears ran down her cheeks.
"Remember, you can heal him. We can heal him. You are the healer," her wolf whispered to her.
Suddenly, as if a rush of energy surged into her, she rose up with great force and turned to stare at the men in the room.
"The alpha is not dead. He still lives," Aurora said to the men, and they stared at her as if she had lost her mind.
"The doctor confirmed that he is dead," Orion said. He knew she was in pain and was believing the alpha was still alive, but that wasn't true.
"I said the alpha still lives!" Aurora said, throwing him a glare that surprised the men.
"Luna, I know you are not thinking straight. I think you need to rest..."
"I said the alpha lives, and I need all of you to leave the room right now," Aurora said, shutting Orion up, who looked taken aback by her reaction.
"I said LEAVE! All of you NOW," Aurora said, giving Orion a challenging stare.
"Fine, we leave, and we hope the alpha leaves, Luna," Oliver said, his voice filled with concern for her.
"Guys, let's leave. The Luna needs alone time with the alpha," Oliver said, leaving the room while the rest followed suit. Orion stared at Aurora and then left the room right after the others.
When they all left, Aurora walked towards the alpha. She knelt down at his bedside and found herself touching each contour of his face. His face was built in a beautiful pattern, with a sharp jaw, long lashes, a nose that looked like it could slice a vegetable, a soft chin, and his lips. She felt her body shiver with excitement at the thought of touching his lips, of having his lips on hers, his lips all over her body.
"We can have him when he is back to life. Let's bring him back now, Best friend," Phoenix whispered into her ear, and quickly she let go of him.
"So how do we bring him back to life? The king's men will not be happy with the act I exhibited here if we don't bring the king back," Aurora said.
"It's simple. You kiss the alpha king. Only a true love kiss can bring him back to life. Only his true mate can bring him back to life with just a kiss," Phoenix said. Her words caused a shiver to run through Aurora's body. Perhaps the goddess was wrong about her. Perhaps she wasn't the alpha king's true mate.
