Chapter Twenty: Night Out!

On Mira's eyes, Emma locked her gaze for a moment. When she looked around, she could see that there was real comfort and concern. At the very least, there was someone who seemed to really care about her.

Suddenly, her thoughts strayed to the amount of hope she had placed on marrying Jason, the boy she had loved since childhood.

It had been her hope that he would ultimately develop feelings for her, but at this moment, it does not seem to be even remotely feasible; rather, it appears to be nothing more than a pipe dream instead.

Despite the fact that they were making a significant investment in her father's company, she did not believe that her marriage to him was significant enough to justify all that he was putting her through. She was unable to bear the torture any longer.

The moment when he took her virginity was the most terrible part of the situation. I don't understand how he could be so harsh.

The sensation of tears beginning to form in Emma's eyes was palpable. She tried blinking a lot to prevent them from falling, but it was too late; the tears were already running down her cheeks.

Mira hastily lifted her coffee cup and turned her head away when she saw how distraught her pal was; she couldn't bear to watch her friend tear.

They were quiet for a minute, and then Mira spoke again.

"Hey, how about we go out tonight to clubs?" She inquired

Emma was caught aback by the question and used the back of her hand to wipe away her tears.

Her voice trembled as she questioned, "Clubbing?" "You're joking, right?"

Mira offered a shrug. "Not at all? To clear our brains, I believe we both need a night out. It may be the right item to raise our spirits." She smiled brightly at Emma, but it was evident that she was as in need of a distraction as Emma was.

Emma took a minute to think about the offer. It did seem fantastic to go out for a night, and it would be a nice respite from the stress she was presently feeling.

"But what about Jason, Babe?" "Do you think he'd agree to this?" she queried.

Rolling her eyes, Mira?, "Were you intending to notify him? Why not? With disdain, she wrinkled her nose. "Did he not say that neither of you should meddle in the affairs of the other?"

Emma felt her body lighten up and her muscles loosen.

She paused for a minute before nodding. "All right," she said. "Let's do it." She couldn't stand to be imprisoned within that horrible atmosphere any longer, but she wasn't sure whether breaking out was the wisest plan of action.

Even if it was only for one night, she needed to go out and have some fun.

A smile emerged on Mira's face. She exclaimed, "Perfect!" "I'll make the plans, and you just have to show up looking fabulous."

At that, Emma restrained a little giggle. She swore to try her utmost. "I can't promise that I'll be fabulous, but I'll try not to be a total disaster."

Mira chuckled. "Enough for me," she replied. "Let's now consider dress. I feel we need to really glam it up and go all out."

Emma felt a faint spark of excitement as the two ladies debated what to wear. Perhaps a night out would help her forget her problems—at least for a small while.

Emma began to feel worried as she dressed in her room as the hours passed by and the evening came closer.

She wasn't sure if she could still pull off the sort of style that Mira was describing as it had been a while since she had gone out partying. But when she did get dressed, she learned her reservations were misplaced.

She watched her reflection as she stood in front of the mirror. Her makeup was beautiful, her hair was nicely groomed, and her clothes was exquisite. She was impressed by her ability to pull off the appearance. She knew that she was prepared to take on the evening as she felt attractive and self-assured.

Jason had not come home when she left the estate.

Mira gasped when she saw Emma when she arrived to pick her up at the bus station. "Whoa," she exclaimed. "You look great! I love that we are doing this.

Emma smiled. "Yes, me too," she answered. "I think this is just what I needed."

The two ladies walked to the club, and the instant they entered, the music engulfed them. There was a great atmosphere, lots of people on the dance floor, and flashing lights.

Emma was buzzing with anticipation as she and Mira walked to the bar.

After receiving their refreshments, Emma and Mira sought a spot to stand and view the assemblage. Emma began to relax as they conversed and sipped their beverages. Being outdoors and in the company of people and music felt amazing. It was a refreshing change of scenery.

Mira recommended that they go on the dance floor after some time had passed. Emma stopped, not sure she would be able to find the guts to dance in front of so many people. She was going to make the most of this night, she told herself earlier, but then she recalled that.

Emma felt a touch on her shoulder as she was pondering whether or not to dance. She turned to stare into the dark-haired, tall, handsome guy's eyes. He asked, "Would you like to dance?" with a smile on his face.

Emma looked over to Mira, who gave her a wink to show that she was having fun!

Emma took a deep breath and smiled back at the guy, even though her heart was hammering. Yes, she answered. "That would be lovely."

Emma grabbed the man's hand when he gave it to her, leading her onto the dance floor. Emma couldn't take her eyes off the man she was dancing with, even with the loud music and flashing lights.

He looked to have all the requisite dancing talents, and he was a highly accomplished dancer.

Emma found herself following his example, giving up to the moment and the music. Her body began to loosen, and she started to lose herself in the rhythm.

"Thank you for the dance," the guy muttered, bringing Emma in close as the song drew to an end. It was pleasant."

Emma smiled. "I also want to thank you. It was a tremendous lot of joy.

"My name is Brian," the man said, peering into her eyes. Which is yours?

She exclaimed, "Emma," unable to take her eyes off of him. "Emma Miller."

He uttered it again, "Emma Miller," as if he was savoring the sound of her name. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Emma."

For a short interval, they stood there, immersed in one another's sight. She felt concerned with the peculiar way he was gazing at her. She diverted her glance from him, puzzled why he was staring at her with such intensity.
