Chapter 15
Jasper's POV
“Surprised?” I scoffed and let go of the man. “I guess you didn't know what I am. I had untied myself a few minutes ago, but I still kept calm. When I could have easily slit his throat and feed on his blood.”
“What do you want?” The boss asked, his voice firm and steady.
“Like I said earlier, I have a job for you, but I would need another mafia boss.”
“A mafia boss?” He scoffed and turned to go back to his seat.
I sprinted and blocked his way, but he responded with a smoke puff at my face, which I almost choked on.
“You think I'm here to joke?”
“Of course.” I snapped as he sat down.
“Take him out of here.” He commanded to some of his men.
“Don't you dare!” I growled with my paws ready to feast.
I turned to him, “You should have never been a mafia boss if you were this much of a coward.” I cussed and made to leave, but he stopped me.
“A coward, you say?” He scoffed, but I didn't stop walking to the door.
“I'll take the job.” He added, and an accomplished smile spread wide on my face.
I turned to him, sprinted to him and shook his hands.
“It's nice to have you on the boat. Would you get the other mafia boss for me? There would be a bonus for that.” I smirked.
“Sure. But let me sound this as a warning. If this turns out to be a lie, your head is on the line.”
“You would be dead before then...... If my head will be in danger.” I scoffed and walked toward the door.
“I'll be here by tomorrow noon to pick you both.” I said and retreated from the warehouse.
Standing in front of the warehouse, I let out a deep sigh of relief.
“Oh! That was close.” I puffed out some air.
I walked to the nearest hotel and lodged in. Tired and worn out, I soon nodded off.
The next morning, I got up with a lovely melody humming in my heart as I thought about Anabel.
“She would make the perfect bride for me.” I smiled softly at the thought.
I needed to finish business here soon, so I could get to see her pretty face. So, I took a bath and dashed out of the hotel. Walking into the warehouse, different eyes tailed me until I got to the boss.
“The other one isn't here yet?”
Before he could give me a reply, someone else did.
“Did you just refer to me as “the other one?” The ringing voice came from behind me, and I turned back to see nobody.
I turned back to the boss, thinking I was hearing things, until I felt a pat on my knee. Looking down, I saw the shortest man I've ever seen.
Of course, I know humans could be freaks sometimes, but never pictured such a small creature. Not, especially as a mafia boss.
I turned to the boss, “Please, don't tell me this is the other boss you got, mafia boss.”
“The name is Holm, not a mafia boss.” He retorted, which startled me as he turned to me.
“And yes, he is the other mafia boss. His name is Willy.”
“Nice…. This is really nice, but I can't go with him, Holm. My boss wouldn't like him.”
“Is your boss a gay?”
I almost choked on the question. It was one thing I've never thought of Kaye to be.
“Shut it, will you?” I slammed at him. “Get ready, we should be on our way now.”
I walked out to the front of the warehouse, waiting for them to come out. Soon, they were ready, and we got in the van and drove off to my pack.
Anabel's POV.
I woke up on the bad side of my bed, I haven't seen Alpha Kaye for some days now, neither had Jasper come to visit. Guess none of them had internet in me and Jasper only lied to me. I somehow found myself thinking about Jasper almost every minute, I couldn't seem to take my mind off him.
However, I hope I'm not falling for him. I still love Alpha Kaye dearly.
Stepping out of the house and to the farm, I began to work.
“I need to pay Jasper back.” I thought as I worked hard on the farm.
I lifted my head to take a breath but my eyes met with Alpha Kaye's, he was staring at me through the window. Furthermore, I bowed in respect as I mouthed a greeting to him.
“Good morning, Alpha.”
He waved at me and left the window side. I was about to continue my work when I picked a scent. But before my brain could process it, a voice was heard.
“Hey, beautiful.”
I turned to the direction and it was Jasper. I lost control over it, ran to him and threw myself at him for a hug.
“Leaving without a notice, I thought you would never come back to me.” I said in a low and almost shaky voice.
He gently pulled out of the hug, I let the ground gaze my eyes, but he lifted my head to meet his piercing eyes.
“Did you miss me that much?” He asked with a sweet voice that left a blush on my face.
“Not that, Beta Jasper. I only wanted to thank you properly for helping me out.”
“Oh!” He gasped softly and took some steps back, away from me.
“It's fine if you don't love me. I'll keep off then.” He turned around and left.
I was short of words to express what I feel in me as I watched him walk away. Whether it's love or the feeling of indebtedness, I can't differentiate what I feel for him.
“He might even be better than Alpha Kaye. He couldn't save you, but Jasper did.” A thought popped in my head.
“What am I supposed to do? Leave Alpha Kaye?"
I decided to go back to work but I couldn't get to concentrate. So, I decided to go see Jasper in the mansion. I changed into one of my best outfits and headed to the mansion. But on getting there, I regretted ever leaving the house.
I saw Jasper with a girl, they were smooching and seemed to be a thing.
I was heartbroken.
