Chapter 486 Edward & Moira 31
Chapter 486 Edward & Moira 31
Moira felt a dull pain in her lower abdomen, sensing something was slipping away.
Hearing the two masked men speak, her heart ached unbearably.
Had she miscarried?
Was her and Edward's child gone?
Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face, "No! No!"
One of the masked men cursed.
At that moment, his phone kept vibrating. He answered, "What's up? What? How many cars? Okay, we'll leave right away!"
The masked man whispered a few words to the other, glanced at Moira's condition, and then they both turned and left.
Cold sweat beaded on Moira's forehead, her consciousness began to blur. Before completely succumbing to darkness, she saw a man rush into the room.
The vital signs monitor was beeping.
Edward looked at the unconscious Moira on the hospital bed. Her face was pale, even her lips had no color.
His heart ached terribly. He held Moira's cold hand, and hot tears fell.
His gaze fell on her lower abdomen, where their child had once been.
It was all his fault. He hadn't protected her, nor their child.
Edward gritted his teeth, got up, and walked out of the ward to call Vance.
"Did you catch them?"
"Yes, Mr. York. These two are tough, not talking."
Edward's eyes were cold and fierce, his voice icy, "Then there's no need to keep them."
Vance, "Understood."
Returning to the ward, he saw Moira had opened her eyes.
He quickly walked over, leaned down, and gently asked, "You're awake? How do you feel?"
Moira placed her hand on her lower abdomen, "The baby is gone, right?"
Edward pressed his thin lips together, kissed Moira's forehead, "We'll have another, Moira. We'll have another child. Once you recover, we'll get married, okay? I'll prepare a grand wedding for you, alright?"
Moira's nose tingled, she turned her face away, tears falling and soaking the pillow.
There would be no wedding, and no more children.
Thinking about what she was about to do, she felt she was betraying Edward.
Her heart was bitter, repeatedly saying sorry.
Edward thought she was losing control because of the lost child, staying by her side, constantly comforting her.
"It's okay, Moira. After we get married, we'll have two children, okay? If two aren't enough, we'll have three. Tomorrow we'll discharge you, and I'll take you back to The York Manor."
Moira sniffled, turned to Edward, "I'm not in a good state now. Let's wait until I'm better to make our relationship public, and then you can take me back to The York Manor."
Edward nodded, "Okay, whatever you say. I'll listen to you, Moira."
Moira turned away, not daring to look into Edward's eyes.
She was about to betray him, she had no right to stay by his side.
They were destined to be two parallel lines, never intersecting.
The previous space had an error, now everything had to return to normal.
Edward looked at Moira's desolate back, his heart filled with endless sorrow and pain, but he was powerless.
On the third day, Edward took Moira home.
Because of the miscarriage, Moira needed to rest at home.
Edward hired a servant to handle meals and housework, and he brought his work home.
Moira watched him busying himself for her, feeling very guilty.
She lay in bed, the afternoon sun unable to warm her.
She knew what she had to do, Edward would never forgive her for it. She felt cold all over, as if she were in an ice cellar.
The bedroom door opened, Edward walked in, sat by the bed, and gently stroked her haggard face.
"Why did you eat so little at lunch?"
Moira cherished his tenderness, holding Edward's broad hand, "I don't have much appetite, don't worry, I'll be better in a few days."
Edward held her hand, "I made a tombstone for our child. When you're better, I'll take you to see it, okay?"
Thinking of the child who had been in her womb for four weeks, Moira's heart ached.
She choked out, "When I'm better, you can take me."
Edward held her tightly in his arms.
After a long while, he said, "Get some sleep. It's my mother's birthday tonight, I'll be out on the boat."
Moira's eyes sparkled, "Will you be back tonight?"
"I'll try to be back before midnight, okay?"
Moira looked up at him, "You don't have to rush. It's your mother's birthday, spend time with her. I'll just go to sleep at night."
Edward felt heartache for her understanding nature. Despite her own great suffering, she was still so considerate.
Moira held him tightly until she fell into a deep sleep.
Edward went to the study to handle some documents. By four in the afternoon, he changed into a suit and left the dressing room.
Seeing Moira still asleep, he kissed her lips and reluctantly left the house.
Hearing the door close, Moira opened her eyes. She got out of bed, put on slippers, and left the bedroom.
The servant, Letty, saw her and respectfully asked, "Ms. Sanders, you're awake."
Moira nodded, smiling, "I want some cake, can you buy it for me?"
Letty nodded, "Of course. Mr. York was just worried you were eating too little. Which store and what flavor?"
Moira said, "There's a cake shop called Lucky Star on Peace Street. I like the strawberry mille-feuille."
Letty nodded, put on her coat, and left.
Moira dialed a number, "Where's my dad?"
"Don't worry, your dad is strong! We even gave him a beating last night."
Moira gritted her teeth, "Don't hit him again! I'll find what you want now! When and where do we meet? I need to ensure my dad's safety!"
"No problem, meet at South Bay dock tonight! I'll contact you directly then!"
The dock?
Would she run into Edward?
She was about to suggest another place when the call was cut off.
When she called back, the number was disconnected.
Moira staggered, would she see Edward tonight?
But she had no time to think about it.
She had to find the bidding price before Letty returned.
Taking a deep breath, she turned and went into the study.
She searched all the documents on the desk but couldn't find the bidding documents.
In her frustration, she noticed a safe.
She quickly walked over, squatted down, and tried entering Edward's birthday, but it was incorrect.
This type of safe would alarm after three incorrect attempts.
She licked her lips and entered her own birthday.
The safe opened.
Tears instantly streamed down her face. Edward had such deep feelings for her.
Wiping away her tears, she opened the safe and took out its contents.
There was a small box and some documents.
She opened the box to find a red diamond ring.
She tried it on her ring finger, and it fit perfectly.
So, this was prepared by Edward for her.
Feeling unworthy, she quickly took it off and put it back.
She picked up the documents and finally found the bidding documents, photographing each page with her phone.
As she was about to put everything back, she saw a property transfer document under the bidding documents.
Opening it, she found that Edward had transferred a large portion of his properties and assets to her.
Moira couldn't hold back anymore and burst into tears.
She knew this event meant they could never be together again.
