Epilogue 2

Epilogue 2
Selena’s P.O.V.

“I hope we haven’t missed something.” As we hear Zoe’s voice coming from the hallway, all eyes turn toward the door.

Sky and Zoe step inside, looking slightly winded but as joyful as ever. In Sky’s arms is their two-year-old troublemaker, Zeke, wearing his mischievous smile. His eyes are already scanning the room like he’s plotting which object to throw first.

That boy is adorable chaos.

“No, you haven’t missed anything,” James says, standing. “But where were you two?”

Before either can answer, Zeke catches sight of the Christmas tree. His eyes widen with glee and he immediately starts wriggling in Sky’s arms.

“There!” he cries out. “Dada, tree! There!”

“No, Zeke, you aren’t allowed to go there,” Sky denies firmly, trying to hold him still.

Zeke whines louder, kicking his tiny feet. “No… Dada… there!”

“Sky, let him go,” Zoe says with a little sigh. “Let him play with the others.”

Sky raises an eyebrow. “Zoe, he’s going to destroy their decorated tree.”

“It’s okay,” I say with a smile. “Jason will handle it. And if not, we’re all here.”

Sky groans but finally sets Zeke down. The moment his feet touch the ground, he bolts toward the other kids, squealing in triumph.

Jason meets him halfway, scooping him up with a grin. “Hi, Zeke.”

The twins show off their decoration proudly, pointing at the tree and jabbering excitedly. Zeke, of course, immediately reaches to tug something down.

As Sky and Zoe take their seats, Stella leans forward. “So? What made you late this time? I hope nobody ended up in trouble.”

Sky lets out a dramatic sigh and points to Zoe. “Of course someone did. Your bestie—my wife, she managed to get in trouble at the last possible second, right as we were leaving the house.”

“I knew it,” Stella says, smirking. We all laugh.

“What happened this time?” I ask, raising an eyebrow at Zoe.

“My heel broke the second we stepped outside,” she explains with a sheepish grin. “And when I went back in to change, Zeke decided it was the perfect time to pop.”

“Pop?” Alex asks.

Zoe nods. “Diaper disaster. You know.”

Everyone erupts in laughter.

“Oh my God.” I giggle. “That’s insane.”

Alex shakes his head, chuckling. “This is peak parent life.”

“But I’m blessed,” Sky says with a calm smile, glancing over at Zeke now gleefully spinning in circles near the tree.

“We all are,” James replies softly.

Our eyes move to our children, then to our partner.

Then we hear it.

“No! Zeke! Stop it! You’re spoiling everything!” Jason’s voice rings out.

We all snap our heads toward the tree. Jason and the twins are trying to pull Zeke away as he tugs down a string of ornaments, holding a glittery star victoriously over his head like a trophy.

“I knew this was going to happen.” Alex laughs.

“Sky, please bring him back,” Zoe groans.

“You were the one who told me to let him go, trouble.”

“I know, baby…”

As they bicker playfully, I feel James’s warm hand on my bare thigh beneath the table. His fingers gliding up through the slit of my dress.

Goosebumps rise instantly.

Fuck! His touch. Even after all these years, his touch still drives me insane.

I glance at him. He is smirking at me, and his eyes are full of heat and love fixed on me.

God, how does he still make me feel like this?

I lean in close, whispering against his ear with a sly smile, “Don’t start something you can’t finish, Mr. Luther.”

He grins, leaning back, his fingers moving closer to my clit. “Oh, I fully intend to finish it, Mrs Luther.”

And his fingers start rubbing my clit over my panties, making me bite my lower lip.

And just like that, Christmas becomes even warmer.

Fuck! I want him to stop and continue both at the same time.

I look around. Thankfully everyone is busy handling kids, and Jana is busy blabbering to herself.

He starts rubbing my clit vigorously, applying the right amount of pressure, making me clutch the spoon.

I look at him. My man. He looks so damn hot with an evil smile on his face. Who can say, this handsome man is now in his mid fifties? He looks so damn good. Silver streaks in his thick hair, a few crinkles around his eyes, and that strong, chiselled jaw—James Luther has only gotten sexier with time.

I grip the edge of the table, biting down harder on my lower lip as his fingers tease me through my panties like he owns me.

Because he does. He owns me from the day he first tasted my lips in the bar.

And the way he’s smirking? He knows exactly what he’s doing to me. My legs shift, thighs tightening around his hand, desperate for more but terrified someone might notice.

I glance at the others. Stella is refilling Zoe’s wine glass while Alex and Sky are busy with Zeke. Jason is giving a full lecture to the twins, who are now arguing over whose ornament is shinier. Everyone’s distracted.

Everyone except James.

“You’re insane,” I whisper under my breath, my voice shaking.

He winks at me. “You love it.”

And I do.

I want to hate how turned on I am, how wet he makes me with just a touch, but I’m practically dripping and he knows it. He always knows.

“James…” I breathe.

“Baby,” he whispers in my ear, slipping his fingers under the fabric now, touching my soaked folds. “Now you’re going to love it more.”

I let out a gasp, eyes fluttering shut for half a second.

His fingers find my clit again, skin-on-skin now, circling in tight, calculated strokes. My breathing quickens. I try to hide it, to stay still, but I can’t.

I can feel it—my orgasm coming closer.

“Selena?” I hear Zoe say distantly, and I snap my eyes open.

“Huh?” I blink at her, heat rushing to my cheeks.

She smirks, catching the dazed look in my eyes. “You okay?”

“Yeah… yeah, just—zoned out,” I lie, forcing a smile.

James’s fingers don’t stop.

If anything, he moves faster.

The bastard.

I press my hand over his under the table, trying to stop him, but he doesn’t stop.

Fuck.

I’m going to kill him.

Right after I let him fuck me senseless.

Now we’re all seated around the dinner table, plates full of food. The kids are playing in the living room, and the nanny is with them, keeping them away from the tree that Zeke has already half-undecorated.

Jana is fast asleep, bundled peacefully in her stroller beside me, her tiny hand curled into a fist. Every time I look at her, I can’t take my eyes off her. She is beautiful like an angel.

As I sip my wine, Stella says suddenly, “Okay, I’ve got something fun. Now everyone will tell when the moment was they realised they were in love.”

“Ooh, yes!” Zoe grins, sitting up straighter. “That’s a good one.”

“Who’s going first?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.

“Stella brought it up,” Zoe smirks. “So she goes first.”

Stella chuckles, then takes Alex’s hand in hers. “It was the day Alex saved me from the burning classroom. The way he ran in without hesitation, how he risked his life for me... that moment I just knew. I knew no one else would ever love me like he does. I gave my heart to him that day—and left my past behind.”

She kisses his hand gently.

Alex clears his throat, clearly emotional. His eyes stay locked on hers. “I realised I loved her the day I found her unconscious in her room. The fear I felt… it was like someone was pulling my soul out. That’s when I knew. If anything happened to her, I’d be nothing.”

They hold each other’s gaze, and the rest of us smile at them.

“I still remember how much they used to bicker in the beginning,” I tease. “Who would've thought they'd end up like this—so deep in love and parents to twins.”

“That’s love.” James sips his wine. “It transforms everything.”

“Alright,” Sky chimes in, putting his arm around Zoe, “our turn.”

“Oh, this’ll be good.” Alex grins, and
Sky smirks.

“I don’t even know when it started. It just happened. Like one day I blinked and I was madly in love with my best friend.”

“Everyone knows when it started,” I tease, laughing. “The day you walked in on her room and caught her with a vibrator.”

Everyone laughs as Zoe buries her face in Sky’s chest, blushing hard.

He chuckles, kissing the top of Zoe’s head. “Let’s just say, after that moment, I couldn’t see her the same way.”

“And I fell for Sky the moment he started pulling me out of every mess I got myself into,” Zoe says, peeking up at him, her cheeks still pink. “He never judged me. Just stood beside me like I was worth saving every single time.”

Then it’s our turn.

I turn to James, locking eyes with the man who still makes my heart skip after all these years.

“I realised I loved James…” I pause, swallowing the lump in my throat. “When I had to leave him for my father. I felt like I was crushing my own heart, and his. I’ve never felt pain like that before—and the guilt of hurting him still haunts me sometimes. I’m still sorry for what I put you through.”

Even now, the memory hurts me. Some things don’t fade.

James caresses my cheek so tenderly that it nearly breaks me. “It’s okay, baby. It’s in the past. You don’t need to carry that guilt forever.”

I nod, my eyes welling up with tears. I lean into his chest, feeling the familiar beat of his heart against my cheek. My home.

“Thank you,” I whisper against his shirt. “Thank you for never giving up on us, James. I’m so blessed to have you.”

He kisses the top of my head, wrapping his arms around me.

“You complete me, Selena. I don’t even remember when I realised I was in love with you. I just know the moment I tasted your lips… I knew you were mine.”

He tilts my chin and kisses me softly. A kiss so full of love that the room fades away for a moment.

Everyone claps and cheers, lifting their glasses for a toast.

“To love.” Alex raises his glass.

“To chaos,” Sky adds with a grin, glancing at Zeke who is now wearing tinsel as a scarf.

“To my constant trouble.” Zoe giggles.

“To family.” Stella smiles.

And finally, James looks at me and says, “To the woman who built a home in my heart.”

We clink our glasses together, smiling warmly at each other.
