Chapter 43 Love-Struck Teenager
Chapter 43 Love-Struck Teenager
James’s P.O.V.
It’s been two weeks since Selena was discharged from the hospital. A fucking two weeks. I haven’t seen her in person since that day, and it’s driving me insane.
I’ve been calling her every few hours, making sure she’s okay, but it’s not enough. Seeing her on a screen doesn’t compare to holding her in my arms, feeling her warmth, kissing her. Fuck! I’ve missed her so damn much. My soul is yearning for her.
I know we decided to wait until she fully recovers before telling her parents about us, but I can’t stay away any longer. Damn! I need to see her. I need to be with her.
Which is why I’m currently climbing a damn ladder in the middle of the night, sneaking into her room like some love-struck teenager.
What the fuck!
I have been behaving like a lovesick fool ever since she came into my life. And you know what? I don’t even care.
To see my Selena, I can climb any ladder. She is my everything now. My entire world revolves around her. My mind can’t stop thinking about her, and I’ve imagined my entire future with her.
God! I never thought that one day a woman would have this effect on me or that I would be capable of loving someone this deeply.
It feels so fucking good to have someone who loves you and to have someone you can shower with the love inside you. The feeling of being loved and loving in return is indescribable. It makes you feel complete and content. In my forty years of life, I’ve never felt this happy. With her, my life feels like heaven on earth.
After reaching her window, I glance around to make sure no one is watching before quietly pushing it open.
Selena is lying on the bed, looking absolutely beautiful even in the dim light. Every time my eyes land on her, I completely lose myself in her. It’s as if she has cast some kind of spell on me.
And it feels so good to see her after two week.
As soon as she sees me, her eyes widen in surprise and happiness. This is exactly why I didn’t tell her I was coming—because this look on her face is priceless. I know she has been dying to see me just as much as I have been to see her. We both yearn for each other equally. What we share is an intense, undeniable connection.
“James?” She blinks her eyes in disbelief. “Are you really here? Or am I dreaming?”
I reply, chuckling. “I’m really here, love.”
A smile spreads across her face as she finally believes that I’m really here. God, I’ve missed that smile.
“My God! James Luther, the richest business tycoon, climbs a ladder just to meet me. When did I get so lucky?” she says dramatically, placing her hand on her heart. But I know she’s genuinely happy—happy to have someone who makes her feel special and puts in the effort just for her.
"Well, Little Miss, you should know by now—when it comes to you, there's nothing I wouldn’t do." I climb inside and walk over to her.
"And for the record, I don’t just climb ladders for anyone. You’re the only exception." I sit on the edge of her bed, my eyes locked on hers. Her presence is so peaceful.
I can see the happiness shining in her eyes. God, I missed this. I missed her.
"Now, come here.” I lean down and pull her into my arms, making sure I don’t hurt her wound. "I’ve been dying to hold you." After inhaling the familiar scent of her hair, I exhale in relief. “Oh God, I missed you so much," I murmur into her hair, holding her tightly.
After pulling away from her, I ask, “How are you?”
She chuckles. “You’ve been calling me every few hours since I got discharged, James. And now you’re asking how I am?”
I brush a strand of hair away from her face. “Hearing your voice and actually seeing you are two very different things, Selena. I needed to see for myself that you’re really okay. I missed you so fucking much.”
Her lips curve up. “I know… because I missed you the same way.” She caresses my face, looking at me like I'm some kind of treasure to her. The look in her eyes is ethereal. When someone looks at you like this, it feels like you've won the entire world.
“Thank you for coming. I love you so much." She gives me a peck on my cheek, making me chuckle. “Anyway, I still can’t believe you climbed the ladder to meet me.” She strokes my dark stubble.
“Even I can’t believe it. What have you done to me? Look at me… sneaking into your room like a damn teenager.” I chuckle, shaking my head in disbelief.
She giggles. “Now you’re Selena’s James. Mine.” She gives me a quick kiss on my lips.
As she pulls away, I kiss her lips hard, grabbing her neck. Fuck! I yearn to taste them every single second.
After breaking the kiss, I breathe against her lips. “Yes, you changed me. And I love myself now. You know, before meeting you, I was just existing. But after that, I’m truly living. You are the pure joy of my life, Selena.”
She buries her face in my chest. “You have no idea how much I love you.”
I hold her for a moment, just soaking in the warmth of having her in my arms again. Then I pull back and grin. “Now, I’ll come to meet you daily like this until you recover.”
Her eyes light up like a child receiving their favourite candy. “Wow! Really? I’m so happy.”
God, she’s adorable.
“Now tell me, what do you want to do?” I ask, brushing my nose against hers.
“What do I want to do? I just want to lie in your arms.”
I smile. “Your wish, my command, miss.”
I shift onto the bed beside her, wrapping my arm around her as she rests her head on my chest.
But just as I close my eyes, a sudden knock on the door startles both of us.
Fuck! Why now?
Her eyes widen in panic. “You need to hide, James.”
“Where?” I look around frantically as the door knocks continuously.
She points under the bed. “There.”
I stare at her, incredulous. “What?”
“James, do it fast!” She pushes me toward the edge of the bed.
With no other option, I slide off the bed and squeeze myself under it just as she calls out, “Come in.”
The door opens, and I hear footsteps approaching.
“Mam, your medicine,” the full-time nurse says, placing the medicine on the nightstand.
“I’ll have it later. You can leave,” Selena replies.
I stay completely still, waiting for the sound of the door closing.
The moment it does, I slide out from under the bed and sit up, shaking my head. “God, Selena, what are you making me do?”
“You’re the one who climbed a ladder to see me.” She bursts into laughter, and damn, I can’t even be mad. That sound—it’s everything.
I smirk, leaning in closer. “And I’d do it all over again.”
She grins. “Now, let’s watch a movie.”
“Before that you should take your medicine.”
“Ugh, do I have to? I’m tired of taking them.” She pouts adorably.
“I know, but you have to take them for the healing of your wound. So, no argument.” I give her a stern look.
She huffs, crossing her arms. “You sound just like my doctor.”
I smile. “That’s because I care about you.” I slide my arm around her back and help her sit up carefully. “Easy.” I make sure she doesn’t strain herself.
She exhales as she leans against the headboard, looking up at me with immense love in her eyes. “You’re so gentle with me.”
I cup her face and brush my thumb across her cheeks, locking my eyes with hers. “Of course, I am. You were shot just three weeks ago, Selena. You think I’d let you move around on your own like nothing happened?”
She gives me a faint smile. “I’m healing.”
“I know. And I’ll make sure you keep healing.” I pick up the medicine and the glass of water from the nightstand before handing them to her. “Now, be a good girl and take this.”
She narrows her eyes with a mischievous smile on her face. “And what do I get in return?”
I chuckle. “Oh, so you’re negotiating now?”
She shrugs, placing the pill into her mouth and taking a sip of water. After swallowing, she tilts her head. “So? My reward?”
I grin before leaning in until our lips are just a breath apart. “This.” I capture her lips in a deep kiss. She hums into the kiss, clutching my shirt.
When I finally pull away, she looks at me with her eyes filled with desire. “Mmm… I like this kind of reward.”
“Then behave and take your medicines on time, and I’ll give you more.”
She laughs, resting her head on my chest. “Now I really feel spoiled.”
“You should.” I kiss the top of her head, wrapping my arms around her.
After a while, I grab the remote and play a romantic movie.
Somewhere in the middle of the movie, I glance down to find her fast asleep, her face relaxed against my chest.
I carefully brush my lips against her forehead. “Goodnight, my love.”
I stay there for a while, holding her and memorising every little detail—her soft breathing, the way her lips part slightly, the peaceful expression on her face.
But then, I reluctantly get up before carefully easing her down onto the pillows and tucking her under the blanket, making sure she’s comfortable.
With a heavy heart, I head toward the window.
“I’ll be back tomorrow, love.” I glance back at her for the last time before climbing down the ladder, already counting down the hours until I can see her again.
