Chapter 108 Levi's Pov
Chapter 108 Levi's Pov
My head felt heavy as I slowly blinked my eyes open.
My mouth was dry and for a few seconds I tried to register where I was. Then everything came rushing back. I was at the parking lot talking to the man who says he's my father then a strange smell knocked me unconscious.
I sat upright immediately.
“You're awake.”
The voice came from across the room. I looked up. My father sat near a window with a book resting on his lap. He looked completely relaxed, like kidnapping people was a normal afternoon activity.
“Why did you do that when we were having a normal conversation?”
“with all the devices on you, I doubt there was anything normal about it.”
I swung my legs off the bed. The room wasn’t huge, it had a bed, dresser, bookshelves, and a small sitting area. Expensive furniture. Expensive decorations. A prison with good interior design.
“ you don't really have a good reputation so what do you expect?" I looked around before looking back at him "Where am I?”
“Somewhere safe.”
I rolled my eyes. “Nothing about being kidnapped is safe.”
A small smile appeared on his face. “You sound just like your mother.”
“What does that have to do with kidnapping me?” I folded my arms. “ And why should I believe anything from the mouth of a kidnapper."
His expression softened. “I don't expect you to believe me. But I'll be honest anyway.”
I wasn’t sure what to do with that. My entire life I’d imagined my parents as faceless people. I even thought they were dead, and If they weren't then they were people who abandoned me and didn’t want me. But now one of them was sitting in front of me acting like he missed me and wanted to make up for missed time. It was annoyingly confusing for real.
I walked toward the door but it was locked. I tried the handle anyway.
When I turned around he was watching me. “I wasn’t expecting you to stay voluntarily.”
“No kidding.”
He closed the book. “I know you’re angry.
Right now.”
“Congratulations on figuring that out.”
That earned another small smile. The man smiled way too much for someone connected to multiple murders. He definitely had mental issues.
My eyes narrowed. “ I still don't get how killing all those people was of any help, when you could have simply reached out.”
The smile disappeared."I know you wouldn't understand."
“Then make me understand.”
He stared at me. Then sighed. “Would you sit down?”
“No.”
He looked almost amused. “I see, you got your stubbornness from me.”
“At this point I really don't care what you think or know.”
He laughed this time. I was beginning to understand why he was dangerous, because he didn't look or sound threatening. He looked quite the opposite—normal, reasonable and human. The kind of person people trusted, who could convince you some was white when it's obviously black.
Eventually he stood. “I owe you an explanation.”
“That’s probably the smartest thing you’ve said all day.”
Instead of getting offended, he simply nodded. “I can see why you think that.”
He walked toward a nearby cabinet and opened it. I tensed automatically. He pulled out a small glass container, then placed it on the table.
My heart almost skipped a bit. Blood. But I tried to remain as calm as possible. "What is that?”
“You already know.”
I stared at the vial, then at him, then back at the vial. “Is that my blood?”
“Yes.”
The casual answer irritated me. “You kidnapped me for blood?”
“Partly.”
“Partly? What does that even mean?”
His gaze shifted toward the window, then back to me. “I needed your help.”
I laughed—a short, disbelieving laugh. “You could have asked.”
“I tried.”
“No. You didn't.” I shook my head.
“i did try. Countless times in fact ”
“Don’t make it sound like you had no choice.”
His jaw tightened slightly. “I had fewer choices than you think.”
I wasn’t buying it. Not even a little. “ That doesn't excuse the fact that you murdered all those people.”
“Why are you so concerned about them, they're not even humans.”
“Wow. And you think you're one , a human?”
“im not saying I am."
“Then stop talking like you’re the victim.”
For the first time his expression hardened. “I never said I was the victim. My actions are my responsibility.”
I frowned. That wasn’t the response I expected. Most villains tried justifying themselves but this man wasn’t denying anything. Which somehow made him harder to argue with.
“I don’t understand you.”
A faint smile returned. " You won't be the first. A lot of people don’t.”
Unfortunately that sounded true. He picked up the vial. “My son is dying.”
The statement caught me off guard.“What?”
“My son.”
I blinked. “You have another son?”
“Yes.”
I stared at him. My brain needed a moment. “Wait.” I pointed at myself. “You’re telling me you kidnapped one son to save another son?”
When I said it out loud it sounded even more insane. His expression didn’t change. “Yes.”
I rubbed my face. “Oh my God.” The room suddenly felt ridiculously stuffy. “That doesn’t make this any better.”
“I know, I'm sorry.”He set the vial back down. “He needs your blood.”
My stomach tightened. “Why?”
His gaze settled on me. “Because your blood can do things ordinary blood can’t.”
I hated how vague everyone became whenever my blood was involved. “What things?”
“I am aware your blood can heal.”
I stared at him. The answer sounded genuine.“I don’t understand.”
“You don’t need to.”
“That’s not how this works, you need to talk so I'll understand. Cause what do you mean you kidnapped me for your son.”
His mouth twitched slightly. “You sound like your brother.”
“Please don't tell me you have another kid.”
“i meant Derek.”
That surprised me too. “You know Derek is alive?”
“I know everything about both of you.”
His answer made me uncomfortable. Like he’d spent years collecting information from a distance, like he knew us without actually knowing us.which was creepy as hell.
He sat down again. “My son has been sick for a very long time.”
I remained standing—mostly because sitting felt like accepting the conversation, and I wasn’t ready for that.
“He wasn’t supposed to survive childhood.” His voice remained calm. “Then he wasn’t supposed to survive adolescence.” He looked down briefly. “He survived that too, all with the help of an old friend.”
I found myself listening attentively. “And now?”
His fingers tightened around the armrest. “Now we’re running out of time.”
I could see the fear written all over his face. If Derek was dying… I would probably lose my mind too.
My father noticed my hesitation. “I’m not asking for forgiveness.”
“That you won't be getting.”
“I’m asking for you to understand my situation.”
That was worse. Because understanding required me to admit he wasn’t completely heartless.“You still could’ve asked. And truth be told I can't understand you because I didn't grow up with a family.”
That was partly a lie, a very big one. Because no matter the situation or challenges I've been through, Lucifiel, Derek and the guys felt like family.
His eyes met mine. "They wouldn't let me get to you?”
“Why not? Who is 'they'”
“ The ones protecting you. And because nobody would’ve trusted me.”
“Maybe.”
“Not maybe.” His answer came instantly. “If I’d walked up to Lucifiel and asked for your blood, what do you think would’ve happened?”
I opened my mouth. Then I closed it. Because honestly? Lucifiel would’ve probably removed several important body parts before listening to the explanation.
My father noticed my silence. “Exactly.”
He had a point there. “ But you still chose the worst possible solution.”
“I know.”
"What do you think Lucifiel would do when he finds you."
Because I know he will. I could literally feel him. I moved toward the window and all I could see was green everywhere. Nothing but trees.
My thoughts drifted all of them from Lucifiel down to Rahul, they were probably losing their minds. Especially Lucifiel. That thought almost made me smile.
“You care about him.”
I looked over my shoulder. “What?”
“The vampire.”
Of course. Everyone apparently wanted to discuss my love life. Wonderful.
“He cares about you.”
I didn’t answer. Because that wasn’t exactly a secret.
My father smiled slightly. “He’ll come for you.”
This time I did smile. “Yeah. I'm glad you know that.”
“It won't be easy for him to get in no matter how powerful he seems."
Before I could respond, the entire building shook hard. The glass rattled and a picture frame fell from the wall.
I straightened immediately. My father froze—only for a second. Then he smiled. A genuinely amused smile.
“Oh.”
I knew that smile. And suddenly I smiled too. Because there was only one person I knew capable of causing that kind of reaction.
My father looked toward the window. Same time I did. Neither of us said a word. Then another impact echoed through the distance. This time much closer. Dust drifted from the ceiling.
His smile widened. “Well that was quick. I guess he truly is bonded with you. I should get ready to welcome him.”
My pulse suddenly spiked up. I wasn't sure if it was excitement or fear. “What?”
He looked directly into my eyes. “I think your vampire found us.”
