Chapter 104 Levi's POV
Chapter 104 Levi's POV
Three whole days without new murders or attacks.
Honestly, it felt suspicious. The supernatural world had ruined me—because instead of appreciating the peace, I kept waiting for something terrible to happen.
The apartment had become our temporary headquarters. Apparently Lucifiel owned half the city. I wasn’t even surprised anymore. If someone told me he secretly owned the moon, I’d probably just ask for proof.
The last few days had been strangely normal—or as normal as life could be when you were hiding from a killer while living with a vampire king. The strange thing was that Lucifiel had somehow become worse. Since he agreed to the whole using me as bait, he was practically attached to me. If I moved, he knew. If I left a room, he knew. If I got hungry, food somehow appeared before I asked. It was becoming ridiculous.
Which was why I wasn’t surprised when I walked into the kitchen and found breakfast already waiting for me.
I stared at the plate, then at him. “You know this is weird, right?”
“Theres nothing weird about making breakfast."He looked up from whatever document he was reading with a wine glass in hand but I know it was probably blood
“You almost forgot to eat yesterday.”
“That was just a one time thing.”
“i could mention four different occasions it happened.”
I grabbed the coffee beside the plate. “You’re becoming unbearable.”
His mouth twitched—the smallest hint of a smile appeared as he lifted his glass to his mouth. He had his hair down which was something he hardly did, and damn he looked too pretty to be a monster.
The apartment door opened. Derek walked in, took one look at us, then immediately turned around.
"Where are you running off too." I called.
“You two are disgusting. And I don't want to throw up before breakfast.”
I smiled. “We aren’t doing anything.”
“Keep telling yourself that."
I was about to use Rahul against him but decided against it since he wasn't ready to talk about it openly.
A few minutes later everyone gathered in the living room. We were going to go over the plan of using me as bait.
Lucifiel’s expression darkened too. He still didn't believe the plan will work.
Rahul looked around the room, then started talking. “We’ve spent the last three days gathering information.”
Nobody interrupted.
“We tracked every attack.” He displayed different images for us to see.
The images looked like random attacks until Rahul started connecting them. Lines appeared across the map. My stomach sank. Every single line eventually pointed back toward me.
“Well.” That was all I could think to say.
The room felt smaller. “The victims didn’t know each other.” He clicked another slide. “But they all knew Levi.”
Nobody spoke. Because there wasn’t much to say. The evidence was sitting right there.
Rahul folded his hands. “The killer isn’t targeting organizations or power, but the killer is targeting Levi. And according to new information, we confirmed that Levi's blood is power. ”
I looked away from the screen. For some reason seeing it laid out like that felt worse. Because it made it all real.
Rahul continued. “We have two options. Like we already know, but we're going with the one to end all this immediately.”
The map on the screen of Rahul's laptop disappeared. A new location appeared—an older district near the center of the city. A crowded but busy looking street.
“We create an opportunity.”
Lucifiel immediately frowned. “ just so we're clear, I still hate every bit of this plan.”
“We know.” Rahul ignored him. “The killer wants access to Levi.” He pointed at the map. “So we give them a chance.”
My pulse accelerated. The plan sounded simple but I know it wasn't.
Rahul leaned forward. “Levi won’t be alone. Obviously.”
Lucifiel snorted. “Yes.”
“I mean strategically.” Rahul gave him a look. Lucifiel didn’t care. “We’ll have surveillance, backup teams, Snipers in place” Lucifiel approved of that one."and different tracking devices.
Derek raised an eyebrow. “Are we hunting a serial killer or invading a country?”
“Both are possible. Depending on how you see it.”
That was not reassuring. At all.
Rahul looked at me. “The moment the killer makes contact, we move.”
I nodded slowly. The plan still terrified me. But at least it was a plan. Which was more than we’d had before.
Lucifiel remained unconvinced. I could feel it. Every few seconds his eyes drifted toward me, like he was reconsidering this entire thing. Again.
After the meeting ended, people scattered. Rahul returned to work. Kael took several phone calls. Derek disappeared somewhere. Leaving me alone with Lucifiel.
He looked at me. “Are you starting to doubt your choice now.”
I blinked. “How do you know that?”
“ it's quite obvious and You've been biting the inside of your cheek.”
Lucifiel moved closer. “You can still change your mind. You know I'll support you.”
“I won’t.”
"I'm just saying if you change your..."
“i said I won't. I know you think I'll get hurt. But I wont.”
“ I don't think, I know you’ll get hurt.”
The certainty in his voice caught me off guard. Then he sighed—a genuine sigh. Rare.
“I spent centuries being afraid of nothing.” he looked me dead in the eyes.“Then you happened.”
My heart immediately betrayed me. The traitor. Beating faster and faster.
"Can't you have a little faith. Just a little."
His hand reached up, brushing hair away from my face. Such a simple gesture. Yet somehow it felt intimate, comforting and safe.
His gaze softened. “Be careful.”
The words were quiet and sounded vulnerable. Which somehow affected me more than all his dramatic declarations combined.
I smiled. “I’ll try.”
His eyes turned crimson for a few seconds and I lost myself in them. The moment lasted longer than it should have. Long enough for me to forget everything else around us.
Unfortunately life hated me. Because Kael chose that exact moment to walk back into the room.
He sighed dramatically. “I miss when you two were fighting all the time.”
“We still are.”
“dosent look like it to me. You look like you need a room.” he pointed below my waist and my eyes followed him.
"Damn it." I quickly covered my aching length that was trying to jump out of my pants.
My face felt hot immediately.
Lucifiel leaned in and whispered."You're not allowed to touch yourself without my permission." My face was hotter than it was seconds ago.
Seeing Lucifiel and not touching myself was going to be serious torture.
A few hours later the mood changed again.
Kael had spent most of the afternoon chasing leads. Now he stood in front of everyone going through a tablet. His expression wasn’t good.
“We just got an intel.”Kael placed the tablet on the table. “A warehouse district.”
Rahul moved closer. “So?”
"Adrian is definitely working for someone higher."
Can we not have any new reveals again. It's becoming tiring as it is.
Keal continued." Rahul will have to find a way to contact Adrian, because he seems like the one to pass on our message of the meeting with the killer."
"On it." Rahul said, already moving.
"I'll draft the message that will be sent to him before the end of today." He was about to turn and leave but he seemed to have remembered something." Oh and about the kid in the dungeon, we let him go. His life would definitely not be the same again."
Oh my goodness, Jamie. I had totally forgotten about him. But he wasn't my problem at the moment.
The moment Kale was done , Lucifiel pulled me by the hand and dragged me into one of the rooms.
Before I could protest my back connected to the wall as he slammed his mouth against mine, kissing me desperately.
