Chapter 52 Shopping

Chapter 52 Shopping
At the Phoenix Feather Boutique branch, the atmosphere was tense with excitement. The staff had received notice long in advance that the big boss himself would be visiting. From the moment Herbert’s car stopped outside, everyone was already standing straight, eyes bright, ready to serve.

Herbert walked in calmly, his presence alone enough to quiet the room. Oliver followed beside him, looking around curiously. Before she could even process where they were, Herbert had already selected two outfits from the display and handed them to her.

“Oliver, go try these on,” he said naturally, as if picking clothes for her was the most ordinary thing in the world.

A few minutes later, the fitting room curtain slid open.

Oliver stepped out wearing white casual pants paired with a soft yellow sweater. The sweater had a fluffy little lamb stitched on the chest, its expression gentle and silly. The warm color made her skin look even fairer, and her long hair fell loosely over her shoulders. She looked youthful, bright, and sweet, like a carefree high school student.

She glanced at her reflection, then turned to Herbert. “Uncle, do I look good in this?”

Herbert folded his arms and pretended to consider seriously, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than necessary. Then he spoke calmly, “Oliver looks good in anything.”

Her cheeks turned red instantly.

The store clerks nearby couldn’t help but chuckle quietly, exchanging knowing looks.

“From now on, clothes from Phoenix Pavilion will be delivered to you,” Herbert continued. “You can choose whatever you like.”

Oliver blinked, confused. “But isn’t Phoenix Pavilion only known for formal wear?”

She genuinely had no idea where these clothes came from. They didn’t look like the stiff, elegant gowns she had seen before.

Herbert noticed her confusion and explained patiently, “I had these prepared in advance. They’re all your size. In the future, someone will design clothes just for you. Each piece will be one of a kind.”

Gavin, standing nearby, added helpfully, “Just like the boss’ clothes. All exclusively from Phoenix Pavilion.”

Oliver’s eyes lit up. “Does that mean I can wear matching outfits with Uncle?”

Herbert paused for a split second, then nodded. “Of course you can.”

The faint curve of a smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

After leaving the boutique, they stopped by a pet store to buy supplies. Oliver carefully picked out a small collar, toys, and a soft blanket, her excitement impossible to hide. Once everything was packed, they headed toward the estate Herbert had purchased in Jinjiang City.

The iron gates opened smoothly as the car approached. A neatly dressed elderly man stood waiting at the entrance, posture straight, eyes kind.

“Welcome back, sir,” he said respectfully.

Herbert nodded. “Oliver, this is Uncle Moses. If you ever need anything, you can go to him.”

“Hello, Uncle Moses,” Oliver greeted politely.

The old butler smiled warmly. “Welcome home, Miss Oliver.”

The word home made her pause for just a moment.

Inside, the servants had already prepared a pet room. The puppy, who had slept almost the entire way, was now awake. Its black eyes sparkled as it wobbled around the soft mat, tail wagging nonstop.

“Hey there, little one,” Oliver called softly. “Your big sister is here.”

The fluffy white puppy bounced toward her like a cotton ball. She scooped it up and it immediately began licking her face enthusiastically.

“Hey, hey!” Oliver laughed, dodging its slobbery kisses. She tickled its little belly, and the Samoyed pup obediently rolled onto its back, four tiny legs curled up, completely trusting and content.

Her laughter rang through the room, light and carefree.

Watching from the side, Herbert finally felt the tightness in his chest ease. As long as she could smile like this, everything else felt unimportant.

“Have you thought of a name yet?” he asked.

Oliver tapped her chin thoughtfully. “Let’s call him Bobby. Easy to remember.”

Herbert chuckled softly. “Alright.”

As evening approached, Herbert arranged for a car to take Oliver home. Standing on the porch of Maple Grove, he hesitated, his gaze lingering on her face.

“I was thinking,” he said slowly, “after you graduate, you could move out of the Peterson family. If you’re not happy there, I can buy you a house near the school. It would be closer for you.”

Oliver looked at him, then smiled.

“Uncle, don’t worry. I won’t be sad because of them anymore,” she said calmly. “Since that’s my home, why should I leave? That would only make Samantha happy. What’s mine is mine. And even if I don’t want it, I won’t just hand it over so easily.”

The fire in her eyes burned bright and steady, making her already beautiful face even more captivating. It was impossible to look away.

Herbert exhaled softly, relief washing over him. “Good. As long as you’re happy.”

After all, it was just the Peterson family. If needed, he could always buy it for her to play with.
