Chapter 289: A Magical Treatment Plan
Chapter 289: A Magical Treatment Plan
Emily continued speaking softly,
"By the way, Princess Della came by earlier. Tyler was worried she'd lose her temper and cause a scene, disturbing your rest, so he didn't let her onto this floor."
Thinking of Della's temperament, Emily pressed her lips together,
"She has quite a temper, very fierce. Whenever things don't go her way, she makes a huge fuss.
Her shouting could be heard throughout the entire corridor. She even said she wanted to come in and confront you, blaming you for not waking up, and that Queen Ruby was bullying her too...
James, you know what? Sometimes I really envy her - so free, so unrestrained, so genuine... Also, do you blame her? You two grew up together, you shouldn't dislike her, right?"
"If you wake up, if... if you want to explain to me again... I think I'll listen, and I'll believe you, James."
Emily's fingertips gently brushed across his brow and eyes, her tone full of pleading,
"Actually, if you count it up, we've been married for over two years now, haven't we?
That marriage certificate - I saw it at Bianca's house. It really had your name on it, and your signature.
Looking back now, it's almost funny. If I had found that marriage certificate with your signature earlier, I should have guessed that the person who wanted to marry me wasn't Mason, but you.
I can't believe you fooled me for so long, you big liar."
Her voice carried a hint of reproach, but more than that, it was filled with heartache,
"James, do you know? Tyler almost died in Lumaria because of you.
He stormed into the Prince's mansion alone, risking twenty years of imprisonment, even pledging loyalty to my father,
saying that as long as he could bring me back, he was willing to stay and accept punishment.
He's really something, risking his own life for you.
If you don't wake up, how can you face his sacrifice, how can you face all the people who care about you?"
Whether it was Emily's words that touched James's nerves,
or her praising another man in front of him that stung his deep-seated pride, James, who had been completely still, suddenly had his eyelashes flutter slightly.
Then, the ring finger that Emily was holding also curled slightly - the movement was subtle but undeniably real.
Emily, absorbed in her own emotions and focused on pouring out her heart, didn't notice this subtle change.
But what she didn't know was that the hospital room had cameras discreetly positioned in every direction, and James's every movement was being watched clearly by those monitoring outside.
Outside the monitoring room, Tyler, Della, Layla, Briar, Dr. David, Samuel and others had all gathered.
Everyone's face was filled with tension and anxiety, their eyes glued to the screen, barely daring to breathe.
Even Nicholas, usually chatty and joking, now stood quietly to the side, arms crossed over his chest, expression serious, eyes full of worry.
"He moved! James moved!"
Layla was the first to notice the change on the screen. She cried out excitedly in a low voice, her voice trembling. She pointed at the screen, eyes reddening,
"Look! His eyelashes are trembling, and his ring finger moved too! This is great, he really responded! Emily really can wake James up!"
Della rushed to the screen, staring intently at James's face. Her previously tense expression instantly relaxed considerably, tears welling in her eyes, yet she still said stubbornly,
"At least he has some conscience, didn't make us wait all this time for nothing."
David immediately took out paper and pen, quickly recording the changes in the heart rate monitor on the screen, a relieved smile appearing on his face,
"Excellent! This means his central nervous system is starting to respond, his consciousness is gradually awakening. As long as we continue to stimulate him, there's a great chance he'll wake up!"
Tyler watched the scene on the screen, his long-tense nerves finally relaxing. He leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath,
the exhaustion and worry in his eyes gradually fading, replaced by a sense of relief.
He knew that all his efforts hadn't been in vain - Emily was indeed James's only salvation.
Samuel patted his shoulder, smiling as he said,
"Tyler, you've done a great service. When James wakes up, he'll definitely thank you properly."
Tyler shook his head, his gaze falling on Emily's figure on the screen, saying softly,
"It wasn't me. I just firmly believed that the only one who could wake James has always been Emily.
All we can do is wait here quietly and give them some time."
The people in the monitoring room gradually calmed down, their eyes still fixed on the screen, everyone's heart filled with anticipation.
In the hospital room, Emily continued softly recounting moments from the past, her fingertips tightly holding James's hand.
Emerald City Central Hospital - Dean's Office
Seeing that the room was filled with barons, princesses, or the future queen, the dean had long since put down his previously crossed legs and was now standing straight, explaining James's recent medical examination reports to everyone one by one.
"James's cerebral cortex activity index has increased, but his bodily functions haven't yet recovered to normal daily vital signs."
"What does that mean?"
Samuel asked with a frown.
"It means that although James shows signs of improvement, he seems to be trapped in a nightmare. I checked his previous medical records - does James have psychological..."
The doctor didn't finish his sentence.
These were James's private matters. This was medical ethics - he hinted at it indirectly.
David glanced at Emily, then asked everyone to leave, keeping only Emily behind.
"That's right, James previously had PTSD from a shipwreck he experienced as a child."
"That explains it. The shipwreck James experienced as a child very likely also involved physical trauma, so this car accident triggered his protective mechanism again."
"What should I do?"
"Emily, I suggest you take this opportunity to completely cure both James's physical and psychological conditions. I suggest you do this... and this..."
Emerald City Rubber Plantation
"Emily! Are you sure? Just the two of you? And! That island... can you really find it? Emily, why don't we go with you!"
Layla grabbed Emily's arm, watching her move James into the cabin, then start loosening the ropes, clearly about to row the small boat into the sea.
Even Briar frowned, staring at the small boat with blue and white stripes and asking David.
"Can this boat actually sail?"
"Yes, I had people reinforce the hull."
David said, stroking his chin,
"Don't worry, Tyler won't let anything happen to Emily."
Briar looked around and only then realized that Tyler was indeed not on the beach.
