Chapter 246
Chapter 246
Lily's POV
I looked at these comments and burst into laughter, clutching my stomach.
William sat on the sofa, unhurriedly peeling an orange for me. Seeing me laugh so happily, he slightly curved his lips. "What's so funny? Are you this happy about taking down Emily?"
"Emily brought this on herself. Now the entire internet is criticizing her. It's hilarious."
"Indeed. After causing so much trouble, she deserves to face some consequences."
William showed no sympathy for Emily. After all her misdeeds, any goodwill he had toward her had vanished.
"You don't feel bad for her at all? She was once your favorite girlfriend." Remembering William's past, I felt slightly annoyed.
"There are some things I should clarify with you," William said.
I looked at William's sudden seriousness with confusion. "What things? If it's about Emily, I was just joking. I really don't..."
"First, there wasn't much between Emily and me. It wasn't as mysterious as Samuel claimed. We simply had different values—she pursued her dream, and we broke up."
"Second, any feelings I had for her disappeared after she left. There wasn't much emotion to begin with, so my subsequent immersion in work had nothing to do with her."
"Third, the only reason I still had any reaction to her was because I wanted to understand what kind of woman could decisively abandon a relationship to pursue her so-called dream. Later, I discovered she already had a new boyfriend abroad—the director who made her famous."
This was the first time I'd heard William speak like this. I was completely stunned.
After finishing, William looked into my eyes and asked, "So, do you have any other questions?"
"So... you were cheated on?"
My unusual train of thought surprised even William.
"Is that really the important part?" William asked through gritted teeth.
Seeing William's unusual demeanor, I couldn't help laughing. "Think about it—the renowned CEO of Sterling Group, cheated on. How sensational would that be if it got out?"
William's face instantly darkened.
"Alright, I'll stop teasing you." Seeing William's expression change dramatically, I smiled and shook my head. "By the way, I asked Beatrice today. She said the crew hasn't been filming for several days because they can't find someone suitable for an important role. They've interviewed many people with poor results. What should we do?"
William thought for a moment, then fixed his gaze on me. "Why don't you step in yourself?"
"Me?" I looked at William, my smile freezing. "I'm not suited for acting. Besides, I don't even like acting, and I can't stand that environment."
Yes, I was simply being lazy.
"Not suited for acting? Lily, don't you remember how popular that scene you acted in was? If you're not suited for acting, I can't think of anyone who is."
I touched my head. "That was just to provoke Emily. I'm not really good at it."
"We'll see about that when the time comes. I think you're quite suitable. Besides, your previous scene left such a deep impression on so many people. It could also boost the crew's popularity."
As expected of a business mind—every word he spoke was linked to profit.
I reluctantly agreed. "Fine, I'll go."
The next day, I joined the crew.
Director Zane was surprised to see me personally. "Lily, you're actually coming to act yourself?"
He had seen my previous scene where I'd upstaged Emily. From a professional perspective, with my looks and acting skills, I could reach top-tier status within three years.
"Yes, aren't you short one person? For fairness, let me audition first to see if I qualify."
"Of course, let me show you the scene."
Director Zane was sweating nervously.
"Why are you so tense?"
Zane smiled. "I'm excited. Just thinking about how the neighboring crew couldn't keep you with a lead role, while you're auditioning for a supporting role here—it's thrilling."
The scene I was auditioning for involved carrying an unconscious female lead (played by Beatrice) to the hospital.
Director Zane looked at my physique with concern. "If you can't carry her, we could modify it so you just support her on your shoulder."
I glanced down at Beatrice, who was lying on the ground pretending to be unconscious. "How could I not carry someone with her small frame?"
Zane swallowed. "Recently, Beatrice gained about forty pounds for this role. She's around 115 pounds now. Many male actors in the crew have tried, but except for Henry and Michael, none could carry her..."
"That's because they're too weak!"
William chuckled. "Indeed, they are."
A male actor nearby heard this and stepped forward. "What did you say? It's clearly because Beatrice has gotten too heavy. Who could carry someone her weight?"
Hearing this, Beatrice's eyes flickered with hurt, but she still managed a smile.
"It's not like I can't lose weight again. I only gained it temporarily for the role, hmph."
I spat. "What a jerk."
"Who are you calling a jerk?!" The man's eyes widened.
I rolled my eyes, dismissing him. "Director, shall we begin?"
"Yes."
The audition officially began.
I took a deep breath, quickly ran to Beatrice's side, and looked at her unconscious form. My typically cool gaze now showed a hint of urgency.
"Are you alright?"
Seeing the blood flowing from her head and her tightly closed eyes, I reached out and lifted Beatrice directly into my arms.
With one smooth motion, I picked her up effortlessly.
A princess carry—much more impressive than simply carrying her on my back.
Everyone around us widened their eyes, especially the male actor who had mocked us earlier. His face turned red with embarrassment, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into.
My emotions, lines, and overall performance were flawless. I nailed it in one take, and the director called "Cut" with satisfaction.
I walked up to the male actor, raised an eyebrow, and said, "I was a Sanda champion while you were still learning your ABCs in school. Go work out more instead of embarrassing yourself here."
Sanda champion?
The man's ears turned red. He clearly hadn't expected me to be a martial arts champion!
Seeing everyone's surprised expressions, I tilted my head in confusion. "What's wrong?"
Beatrice cupped her face with both hands, her eyes full of admiration. "Lily, you're so cool! A Sanda champion—I've never met anyone this awesome before!"
I grinned and patted Beatrice's head. "It's nothing~"
"The way you lifted me so effortlessly was amazing—much more impressive than those guys!" Beatrice looked around to ensure no one was nearby, then lowered her voice. "Actually, that guy likes me, but after he found out I was with Michael, he got angry and started saying bad things about me."
"Like I said, they're just too weak."
I turned to look at William.
"Right, William?"
William nodded hesitantly. "Yes, indeed."
"Don't be afraid, I won't beat you up," I said with a smile as I went over and took his hand.
