Chapter 241

Chapter 241
Lily's POV
Walter's face turned bright red, but to avoid angering his wife, he nodded like a pecking chicken: "That's right, that's what we called each other back then."
Walter had probably never experienced such an embarrassing situation in his life. He could only fidget with his sleeve, standing awkwardly in place.
This man, normally commanding such authority in the business world, now looked like a high school student caught red-handed.
Seeing his demeanor, Elizabeth reminisced further: "Look at him now—exactly how he looked when he asked my father for my hand in marriage..."
"Alright, alright, enough! Let these young people sort out their own affairs. You're not fully recovered yet, you should rest," Walter couldn't bear to hear any more and hurriedly urged Elizabeth to drop the subject.
William and I understood the situation perfectly. Seeing that Walter was at his limit, I tactfully stood up: "Elizabeth, you should rest now. We won't disturb you any longer, but we'll come back to check on you later."
Elizabeth was physically weak as well, so she didn't insist, though she gave Walter a reproachful look: "Very well. Do come see me if you have time."
I nodded and quickly pulled William out of the room.
Once outside, we finally couldn't help but laugh softly.
Who would have thought Walter and Elizabeth interacted like this in private?
Downstairs, I looked at William's face and immediately returned to the matter at hand: "Let's go find Samuel now and arrange for him to meet Yale as soon as possible."
I noticed William seemed distracted, so I waved my hand in front of his face: "What are you thinking about?"
William frowned: "'Baby' is too saccharine, 'darling' is too frivolous, and 'sweetie' is too awkward. How about 'Lily baby'?"
I was speechless. He was still hung up on this nickname issue?
"Let's not worry about that right now. Let's focus on how to get Samuel to meet with us."
But William persisted: "I think it's quite important."
"William, can you stop being so childish!" I complained.
He remained composed: "It's not childish. These are normal terms of endearment between couples. You shouldn't call me William either."
"Seriously? We're about to deal with Samuel, and he's concerned about this?"
Seeing his stubbornness, I decided to counter-attack. I backed him into a corner and teased: "Baby?"
William's ears turned red.
"Honey..."
His Adam's apple bobbed.
"Hubby~"
At the last word, William could no longer restrain himself. He grabbed my wrist and kissed me.
The moment his lips met mine, my mind went completely blank. I could only feel his breathing and heartbeat, while my own heart raced wildly.
"God, I was just trying to tease him. I didn't think he would actually..."
After what seemed like ages, William finally released me. I was practically breathless. Seeing his triumphant smile, I glared at him angrily: "William, you jerk!"
He calmly replied: "Weren't you the one who seduced me first, Lily baby?"
My face instantly turned crimson, as if on fire.
"This man is getting more and more outrageous."
I refused to call him "hubby" again and decided to go get the car, telling him to inform Walter we were heading out to find Samuel.
"Go tell Walter we're going out. I'll wait for you in the garage," I walked away without looking back, not wanting him to see my flushed face.
I heard William's deep laughter behind me, which annoyed me further, though my heart felt inexplicably sweet.
"I just don't know what to do with him."
William and I arranged to meet Samuel at the Sterling Group office.
After the recent kidnapping incident with James, William no longer felt comfortable meeting people elsewhere. He chose the safest location—the Sterling Group.
"Honestly, I don't want to take any risks anymore either."
In the office, we had everything arranged.
Yale was hiding in the bathroom, waiting for the right moment to appear.
William sat behind his desk while I stood by the window, pretending to admire the city view but actually nervously awaiting Samuel's arrival.
Before long, Samuel walked in, his tone hostile: "What is it now, William? What scheme are you and Lily plotting this time?" He sat down with a cold smile, contempt in his eyes.
I turned to face him, looking directly into his eyes: "Samuel, I have something to tell you about the death of your birth parents."
As soon as I finished speaking, Samuel's expression darkened. His hands clenched into fists, knuckles turning white from the pressure.
"Don't bring that up if you want to have a civil conversation with me."
Samuel's tone was icy, clearly extremely sensitive about this topic.
I decided to confront the issue directly: "You can't still believe that Walter was the murderer of your family? Samuel, if you had any sense at all, you wouldn't harbor such hatred toward the man who raised you for decades!"
I spoke without mincing words. With Samuel, I really had no reason to be polite.
Every time I thought about what he had done to the Sterling family, I couldn't help but feel angry.
Samuel first chuckled, then broke into unrestrained laughter: "Lily, what do you know? It wasn't your parents who died. You weren't the one raised with favoritism. What right do you have to judge me from your moral high ground? Who do you think you are?"
As Samuel laughed maniacally, I glanced toward the bathroom.
As planned, Yale emerged and said just one word: "Samuel."
His voice carried unmistakable longing.
Seeing this familiar yet strange man before him, Samuel was visibly stunned, momentarily disoriented.
This was understandable, as Yale looked exactly like an aged version of Samuel. The resemblance between them was shocking.
They had the same facial features, the same nose shape, even the same posture.
Such similarity couldn't be coincidental—only blood relation could explain it.
Harboring inner confusion, Samuel cautiously asked: "Are you... my father?"
In this moment, his tone lost its usual sharpness, replaced by uncertainty and vulnerability. He was like a long-lost child finally seeing hope of returning home.
Yale could no longer contain his emotions. Tears streamed down his face: "Samuel, it's me—your father, your biological father."
In that moment, the love and longing in his eyes nearly overflowed. He took a step forward, seemingly wanting to embrace Samuel, but hesitated.
Suddenly, Samuel looked at me and grew wary again: "Nonsense! Lily must have found some man who resembles me slightly. You're not my father. My father died twenty years ago!"
He refused to believe this reality, which was understandable. Anyone would struggle to accept someone returning from a supposed twenty-year death.
Seeing Samuel losing control, I steadied my voice: "Samuel, whether you believe it or not, this man is your father. I have your DNA test results here. If you don't trust it, you can get tested again yourself."
