Chapter 85 85

Chapter 85 85
Andre muffles his alarm the very second the sound goes off.

This week of two-a-day training sessions to make up for the missed ones is going to kill him…but knowing that when he gets home today Dylan will still be here is all the motivation he needs to get a move on.

Dylan didn’t sleep at all on their flight but he crashed as soon as they got in bed and hasn’t budged since.

Dropping a soft kiss to his cheek and sending a quick text, Andre drags himself away from the bed that’s practically screaming for him.

At six in the morning Andre wasn’t even thinking about his usual protein shake.

Of course, he finds his dad putting the lid on and handing the cup over, “Don’t let Evan push you too hard this morning. You need rest too.”

"I know. I only have two-a-days until thursday” Henry ruffles his hair and walks with Andre to the front door, “I'm so proud of you. you know that right?”

Usually he teases them for their over-affectionate ways but he can’t help giving his dad the tightest hug arms around his shoulders, “thanks for always supporting me”

"It’s not a question, ever.” Henry squeezes him before letting go and waiting until the car is out of sight to close the door.

All Andre could think about as he drove to the arena is how he can’t wait to get home.

Dre: day one of selling my soul to Evan mom had to work today but dad and Hyeri are home.
he’ll probably cook breakfast before I get back if you wake up.
love you

Dylan blinks at the text on his phone. He faintly remembers Andre telling him he’d be gone early in the morning.

He really is so dehydrated it hurts to even swallow but he can’t act like he doesn’t feel a tiny bit out of place without Andre here.

it’s already been three hours…Andre is seriously having to train double the amount just to make up for leaving unexpectedly…Dylan is taking his time in the shower and trying really hard not to feel horrible about this fact.

The realization that he did a horrible job of packing his things brings him to his knees. This is so fucking embarrassing.

He made sure to grab everything especially important, which left really little space for clothes.

A part of him already knows that Andre would have absolutely no issue with him borrowing until Dylan can get to the store but the other part of him that already feels like a giant inconvenience, doesn’t want to risk it.

His sweatshirt smells as clean as when he first washed it, despite the tear on the sleeve.

So Dylan throws it on. Pairing with the shorts he wore to bed, it’ll suffice to get himself to some type of department store.

There’s another three to four hours to kill until Andre gets home most likely, so he has the time. but first , he has to figure out where the hell one is and how to get there with no car and no knowledge of the public transport.

Dylan’s throat burns as he finishes brushing his teeth.

okay… actually first , he needs to suck it up and go get some water. after everything Henry has done for him Dylan shouldn’t still feel as intimidated as he does walking out there.

But the anxiety vibrating throughout his body almost completely stops when Hyeri leans over the back of the couch at the sound of the bedroom door opening.

“Papa, Ianie is finally awake!”

Henry’s laugh is soft "Inside voice, kiddo, jeez”

Dylan offers a small smile when he enters the kitchen. Eyes going especially round when Henry scratches behind his neck, “we were slow risers today too, it's a cereal and toast kind of morning take your pick.”

He looks at the array of boxes set out on the counter…his eyes must linger too long on the box that looks like mini chocolate chip cookies because Henry smiles, “those are Andre’s favorite too, sit down, i’ll bring you some.”

Without grabbing the water he came here for, Dylan sits down as he was told, looking through to the living room where Hyeri is singing and dancing along to music videos on the couch.

Henry places a big bowl in front of him and a cup that looks to be filled with the same banana smoothie he’s had before.

“Would you like some water too? or is that enough?” its more than enough….but, he asks very softly,

“water would be great.” He says the silence is comfortable but it’s not really silent with the way Hyeri belts every lyric of the songs.

Dylan’s grandma is the only one in their family that actually listens to any korean music.

So hearing Hyeri sing along to the songs so fluently makes him giggle and also feel a little inferior about his own culture.

Henry  laugh cuts through his thoughts, “she has no clue what she’s singing”

“Really?” Dylan laughs even harder.

“She sounds so passionate though!”

"It’s the feeling of the music, it just does something to her I guess” they both snort at the dramatic way she finishes the song. flopping onto her back.

“papa I'm boredddd”

“You should be tired, you just performed a whole concert”

“yeah well—“

Hyeri runs over and pushes the next chair as close to Dylan as possible climbing in with a big smile.

“—Dylanie what do you wanna do today?!”

“oh… um …I'm not sure. I don’t know when Andre will be home.” his stomach swoops flipping over violently and clearly enjoying that little mindless statement too much.

He slaps himself mentally to get it together blushing over silly things.

Hyeri sighs, “I wish we could do something super fun…mom said I don’t get anymore days off from summer camp until school starts because i’ve taken so many already…it’s my last day!”

Dylan gnaws on his lip, genuinely at a loss of what to say but her little eyes blink up at him as if waiting for him to have the magic words that will lead to a ‘super fun’ day.”

“Hyeri, why don’t you go pick out some clothes for today and change out of your pajamas, then we can think of something to do until Dre gets done with training. okay?” Henry’s voice is firm and she smiles though the way she gets up is clearly reluctant.

Dylan stands to rinse off his now empty bowl and cup when Henry chuckles, “don’t worry about that, just drop them in the sink.”

“no, it’s fine, really.”

“son…” Henry now has the voice he just used on Hyeri and Dylan drops the dishes immediately.

The smile that follows makes his chest feel fuzzy, “…i’ve got to wash mine and Hyeri’s anyway. I don’t mind doing yours too.”

“Well, thank you.” There's an exaggerated pause before Henry rounds the counter and faces him.

“listen…I don't want to overstep…but you only brought your backpack and that small luggage home with you. Do we need to do some shopping? or do I need to find a way to get more of your things from that house when we move out your grandmother?”

Dylan feels clammy and hot all over again.

He doesn’t know what the right way to answer this is.

They’ve all just done way too much. But before he can open his mouth Henry smiles,

"It’s not a bother either way, just let me know how I can help. I want to.”

His voice cracks embarrassingly, "I…i was actually going to try to find a department store today while Andre is training. I got all of the important things I needed but yeah I’m definitely lacking on clothes. I clearly wasn’t thinking about that necessity.”

“you had way more on your mind than thinking about clothes, don’t worry about it. Why don’t us three get out of the house? it’ll tame the little one and we can get you a proper closet going.”

Dylan does his best to fight back the emotions tugged at his chest, “that sounds good”

Henry claps with a big smile, “I’ll just wrangle the monkey and we can head out in fifteen.”
