Chapter 46 Running nemesis.

Chapter 46 Running nemesis.
"What happened to her?" Camilla's expectations rose.

"No, Mrs Ursula is out of danger..."

Camilla was disappointed.

Ethan wasn't completely relieved.

".. she's fine but the baby"

"What?"

"I'll need you to calm down. It's totally manageable..the baby happens to be forming outside her womb, unfortunately" the doctor finished.

Camilla raised her brows in bewilderment.

What? Outside her womb? What does that mean? I always knew something was alien about her.

"What does this mean, doctor?" Ethan asked.

"She's still pregnant but it's an ectopic pregnancy and because of that, it's going to be risky for her to continue with the pregnancy. It's risky to her life. I really suggest you...abort" the doctor suggested.

"What? How dare you say that? Advise me to abort my own child? Are you insane?" Ethan spat, pointing a finger in the face of the doctor.

The doctor although stunned, stayed calm.

"No, Ethan calm down. We can work this through" Camilla said, pulling Ethan's finger down from the doctor's face.

"It's not mandatory, Mr Ethan Blackwood. That's why I asked for your permission first. But it's a risk to go on with the pregnancy. And that's all I'm saying. If you want to keep the child, it's completely fine" the doctor expanded.

"I will definitely not abort it. She will give birth to my child." Ethan commanded as if the doctor was even opposing him.

"That's okay, Mr Ethan Blackwood. I'll prepare her for discharge soon. Thank you" the doctor said, turned and left.

Ethan began to pace the hallway.

"Ectopic pregnancy?" he muttered.

Camilla walked behind him and hugged him from behind.

"Ethan, you have to calm down and understand that all this is just a test. You can't always let life get the best of you, okay?" she said softly with her arms around his chest.

A few minutes later, Ursula regained consciousness.

"Nurse, she's awake!" a voice sprang up from her left side.

Her body felt cold, numb and feverish at the same time.

It felt like pins stood on the end of her tongue.

She tried to move but each joint in her body felt like the night Ethan hit her with his car, accidentally.

Even her eyes stung as the light entered them.

"How do you feel?"

She looked to her right.

The head nurse stood with her hands in her pocket.

"F-ffine" Ursula said weakly and slowly.

"Good. You're a very strong woman. You're really a fighter" the head nurse said with a firm, tight smile on her face.

Ursula nodded.

Even though she couldn't recall most parts of what happened.

"Nurse?" a nurse who just walked in, called.

"Yes?" the head nurse answered.

"Her husband has asked that she should be discharged right away"

"What?"

"Yes, nurse. They have signed and the doctor has confirmed it"

"But, she's not strong enough yet"

The other nurse didn't reply. She didn't know what to say anymore.

The head nurse sighed and said "prepare her, then".

Ursula was wiped down with cold cleaning wipes that made her body ache even more.

"Sorry" the nurse muttered each time that Ursula flinched.

They made her wear a pad.

They dressed her up, helped her stand on her very sore feet and then helped her walk out of the room.

Ethan and Camilla stood outside.

Her eyes first met with Ethan's.

Then, she quickly diverted to Camilla's like she knew or expected that Camilla would have empathy for her when Ethan wouldn't.

But Ethan came closer and took her hand from the nurse.

"It's okay, I'll handle it from here" he said to the nurse.

Ursula grunted as she switched support systems.

"I'll just carry you, instead" Ethan said.

Ursula opened her mouth to say "no" but Ethan had already lifted her from the ground.

Her entire body ached.

Tears.

She let her aching head fall on Ethan's chest.

She wanted to raise her head to look at Camilla.

To see if Camilla felt sorry for her.

To see if Camilla would understand how she felt as a fellow woman.

But her head ached too much that she just closed her eyes and surrendered.

She falls back into sleep.

An hour later, they got home.

Ethan takes her to his room and tucks her into bed.

He stands over her with his hands in his pocket.

He watched her as she lay so helplessly on her side, coiled into fetus position.

Should I have considered adoption? And raised a child that wasn't my own blood?

His phone buzzed once more.

A reminder.

He pulled out his phone, looked at his screen and his brows relaxed.

Messages from Sean.

"You definitely do not want me to expose you"

"You wouldn't want anything to happen to your unborn child, would you?"

"Meet me at Arielle's Tea Cafe now"

And more.

He put his phone back into his pocket, took one more look at Ursula and left.

He got into the car.

"Arielle's Tea Cafe" he ordered.

The driver turned.

Arielle's Tea Cafe was a cafe located in an area for lower middle class people.

So, he didn't understand why Ethan would want to go there.

"Are you deaf? Now!" he ordered.

The driver nodded, faced the steering and moved.

Soon, he got to the place.

Trash lay around, outside the cafe.

Homeless people covered in blankets lay on the street.

It irked him.

"Opportunists like her" he muttered at the sight of the homeless people and beggars.

Then, he catches a glimpse of Sean dressed in white polo and faded blue jeans.

Sean walked towards Ethan's car with confidence and like he was majesty.

A smirk stayed on his face.

He knew the image in Ethan's mind on seeing him would be the night he caught him with Taylor.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Ethan didn't even let him start the conversation.

"Thirty percent of everything you own...fair enough, right?"

"You're a traitor"

"Oh my goodness, will you stop telling me who I am. Everyone already knows that. But do they know who you are?" Sean dropped a sharp one.

Ethan tried to calm his anger by steadying his breathing like his therapist told him.

"You don't have much time. Just one week to decide..Your reputation or a tiny bit of your wealth...at least for now"
