Chapter 43 THE FALL.
Chapter 43 THE FALL.
Ursula sat at the chair close to the kitchen counter.
It was a high wooden chair with a white leather surface.
She used her toes to grip the chair hard because it wobbled the first time she tried to climb onto it.
She rested her elbows on the counter.
The kitchen, the entire house was full of furnitures, golden designs here and there.
And also, silence.
She exhaled deeply and straightened her back.
And rubbed her hand over her belly.
It was beginning to cramp a little.
She cracked her fingers.
I don't have feelings for Jared anymore. I know I don't. Whatever's left, whatever I'm feeling is nothing but limerence.
She stretched her feet, trying to touch the ground.
She couldn't.
She moved with her butt to get her feet to be closer to the ground.
The chair tilted.
She gasped.
And she fell.
Stomach first slamming on the cold tiles.
Then her face.
Light flashed her eyes the moment her forehead reached the ground.
Her nose burned.
Her lip felt sore, her teeth had bitten into it.
And her stomach, she didn't feel anything yet.
But her heart began to race.
She winced and then, groaned.
She could hear footsteps approaching quickly to the kitchen.
"Ma'am? Oh my god? What happened, ma'am?" the maid asked.
The cramp in her lower stomach started to increase.
It was getting sorer.
Then, almost unbearable.
"Ooucch!" Ursula cried.
What have I done? Why did I climb that chair? Why did I sit on a chair so high? What made me think I could jump down all by myself? Everyone's going to think I'm doing this on purpose to get Ethan's attention away from Taylor.
"Just relax, ma'am. Let me help you up" the maid said, scurrying side to side to try to find the perfect angle where she could lift Ursula from.
Then, she bent down to almost eye level with Ursula and tried lifting her from the shoulder.
"Nooooooo, stop-stop" Ursula yelled.
The pain was now fully unbearable.
It felt like a very large needle was tearing through her uterus.
The maid searched Ursula for injuries, her own heart beginning to race.
"What's wrong, ma'am? Are you hurt? Did you dislocate anything?" the maid asked, eyes still scanning Ursula haphazardly.
She tried to lift Ursula again.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" Ursula cried out in a shrill voice.
The maid's eyes widened when she saw it.
Just at the center of Ursula's gown, below her buttocks was blood.
"Oh, my- you're bleeding, ma'am...."
Ursula's flinging her head from side to side out of pain stopped at hearing the word "bleeding".
It didn't matter how much pain she was in anymore.
Ethan's child. He warned me. He'll kill me. I have killed his child. My child. What have I done?
"Jesus Christ! I'm finished... ma'am you should have called me to help you get down the stool..." the maid continued.
"Oh my goooddd, nooo" Ursula soft wails escaped her mouth as tears began to leave her eyes now.
"I'll go get help. J-just stay here...and breathe" the maid said
And then scurried off.
Ursula squeezed her gown, writhing in pain.
The needle like feeling seemed to want to escape through her mouth.
She wanted to vomit.
Pain, please stop. I can hide that I've lost the baby..but at least stop and let me get up.
But it didn't, it only increased.
Till she finally vomited and lay there in it.
"I'm so sorry, mmmhmm!! Ahhh!!" she cried.
The maid returned with a man in a black suit and sunglasses.
"What's wrong with you, ma'am?" the man asked, bent down and lifted her up at once.
Then, he ordered the maid.
"Go get her a new pair of clothes and bring them to the car immediately!"
The maid nodded.
Ethan held Taylor's hands as they walked into the house with Camilla behind them.
Taylor's skin was so faded and pale that Camilla wondered how she was managing to make everything look so real.
Her hair was in a bit of a mess and fell scattered across her shoulders.
Her long red sleeveless gown was the only thing that looked unsick on her.
Ethan wrapped his hand around her shoulder as he helped her walk inside.
All I have to do is be close to her. It shouldn't be that hard. It was my fault after all. I fucked up, like I always do.
And just then, he saw the bodyguard run downstairs with a groaning Ursula.
He blinked rapidly trying to contain it all.
Ursula screaming. The blood stain. What?
Is she having another asthma attack? That doesn't look like as asthma attack. Did she try to-no, it couldn't be.
Taylor's eyes widened a bit in expectancy.
Did she just have a miscarriage? My luck is so perfect.
Ethan let go of Taylor's hands and ran towards Ursula and the bodyguard as if he heard her.
He quickly took her out of his hands and placed her onto his shoulder.
"What have you done, huh? Wh-what did you to yourself? Why are you bleeding?" he interrogated amidst gasps as he ran out of the door.
Camilla's eyes watched him as he went.
Clearly, she knows how to always make it all about herself.
