Chapter 42

Chapter 42
Isabella learnt that the Beta's mother was a doctor.

"What has happened to her?"

Sangrine rushed over to his son the moment she saw him come into the emergency room, holding his young fated mate in his arms bridal style.

"I don't know; she just started feeling pain below her belly," said Beta Tyde, extremely worried about his fated mate.

His mother instructed him to take her to the third room. She followed him as he did.

As the Beta laid his fated mate down, at once she began to examine her.

The sight of his fated mate, covered in sweat, growling in pain, and there was nothing he could do but stand there and watch. Tears sprang into his eyes, and he felt like he was going to lose his mind, not being able to do anything at all.

His mother, seeing how overwrought he was, said, "Go outside for some fresh air. I'll take care of her," she told him.

He obeyed her, going to the waiting room.

He paced its hallway, walking backward and forward, unable to stay steady.

He stopped after seeing his mother coming to him three minutes later, which felt like 3 hours.

Before his mother could talk to him about his fated mate, "How is she?" the Beta asked impatiently.

"She's very healthy but'…"

"But what? What is causing her to be in so much pain?"

His mother now finds it hard to look at his son, says, "Your young fated mate is having a heat cycle, and it has become so intense that she's having cramps below her belly."

Hearing this, the Beta became still, very stunned.

His mother then added, "Which I find very unusual for a she-wolf her age," she added.

The Beta remained there silently after hearing that his fated mate was in heat for him.

His mother later said, "I've given her something for the pain. You can go and see her now."

She gently touched her son on the shoulder before leaving.

The heating cycle occurred when two wolves came to know each other as fated mates under the full moon. It is a special cycle created by the moon goddess for when a male wolf not only marks his fated mate as his but also completes the fated mate bond by making love to her.

Within the heating cycle, both fated mates are taken over by an intense sexual desire for each other.

Beta Tyde had been in heat for his fated mate from the day he knew she was his. Fighting it was the hardest thing he'd ever had to do. To hear now that his little fragile fated mate was fighting the same battle, he knew it was a thousand times harder for

He slowly walked into the room to see his fated mate. She smiled when she saw him, and he felt relieved that she wasn't in any more pain.

As he stood at her bedside, she asked, "What did your mom say was wrong with me?"

Looking away from her and outside a window behind her, he tries to answer in a solemn voice, "You're in heat?"

"How could it be I'm not 18 as yet?" said his fated mate.

The Beta, still keeping his eyes off her, says, "I don't know."

Shortly, he then spun around and said, "You'll remain here until my mother notifies me when it's safe for you to leave."

As he began to leave, she stopped him.

"Will I see you again before the day ends?" she asked, staring at him from behind.

Beta Tyde knew it was her sexual hormones speaking to him right now.

'I'll try to,' he said quickly and stepped out of the room.

After telling the old sage what was happening to his young fated mate, he, too, was surprised by the news of a seventeen-year-old already going through the heat cycle.

"I thought the moon goddess wanted me to protect her by finding her early. Now, this. Why is the moon goddess making it even more difficult for me?" Beta tried, frustratingly, to complain to the old sage.

The old sage rested a hand on the Beta's shoulder, sitting in a chair next to him as he lowered his head.

"I know this is the hardest battle for any male wolf-shifter, fighting your wolf inside to claim your mate and now discovering that her body too burns for you. You can't touch her, for she's still a bud and not yet a flower."

Beta Tyde raised his head, and he began to think of his young fated mate. He disagreed with the old sage, who described his little mate as a bud. Though she was not ready to be claimed. She was to him a flower. A rose with untouched white petals and a delicate fragrance, but it just wasn't ready to be taken from the garden.

"The best thing you can do right now is to keep your distance from her," said the old sage.

"And my mind?" he asked, lifting his to look at him.

"When all it thinks about is her?"

Knowing what the old sage is about to say, the beta interposed, "Getting myself busy at work won't help at all either. Amidst my work, I think of her more than I breathe and my heart beats, and even in my dreams I dream about her."

"The only way I will not think of her is if I'm dead," he got up.

Seeing how beaten down he was in his young fated mate problem. The sage drew closer to him, sharing with him one of his wise words.

"Take this best advice; I hope it will be of help to you," he says.

"If you love your young mate. You will wait until she's ready."

He then added, "A gardener who tends for his flower will not cut any, not until it's ready."

Beta Tyde thought on it and said,

"But do his hands not once in a while stretch to touch their beauty when beholding them is not enough?"

"How does the gardener try not to stroke their petals? Not even once in a while? He asked and he thinks of his mate's lip and how pink they were like a rose petal, and how soft it too must be as a petal

The old sage was without words, not knowing what to say.

The Beta leaves.
