Chapter 124 Part 5

Chapter 124 Part 5

Serge shakes his head and looks at Damon. “Man, you've changed. Having a woman do your dirty work.”

Damon chuckles. “Oh, this was all her. I know better than to tell her no.”

I smile. “You see, Serge, there's a big difference between you and me, well, a few.”

He looks at Damon, who just shrugs. “Do tell.'

“Well, I earn respect differently than you. My intimidation is subtle to the point where it's more of a seduction than intimidation. You threaten and use force to garner respect. You like to rely on just one plan, usually. I have multiple plans in place to get what I want. For instance, I had Bob, the fact that I could publicly ruin you if I made a scene, with a simple command, I could financially ruin you, and well, then there's a physical takeover that I could initiate. You're outnumbered by the way. So it would be easy to add some new balls to my collection. Now we do have a common trait. We like to negotiate.”

The waiter comes over for our dessert orders. I ordered a whole lemon cake. The waiter jokes about my sweet tooth. I tell him I'm expecting. He brings the cake plus a bottle of sparkling cider. I thank him and smile. Damon shakes his head. “I can't take you anywhere.”

“Nope.” I giggle.

Ardin chuckles. “I still don't get how you do it. You'd put a smile on Oscar the Grouch.”

“You catch more flies with honey. My mother taught me to use wit and cunning. My father taught me poker and football. Speaking of, I need to go fulfill my debt to Armond now.”

“What do you owe him for?” Damon inquires.

“He said I would ditch Chris, remarry, and become a performer. I didn't believe any of it, so I owe him.” I go and take the stage. I whisper to the band. Then I turn to the people in the restaurant. “I owe Armond a song because I went and got married. He's just mad that I didn't have my reception here.”

“We can fix that with the next one,” Armond yells.

“There won't be one, and I will tell you all why.” I start to sing Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera. I make sure to point to Damon and Ardin. More so, Damon, as I glare at Serge. I dance as I sing the chorus. I smile and bow. “Now this is something that I would like to announce to everyone, but I will let the lyrics speak for themselves.” I sing Arms Wide Open by Creed. I rub my belly and then open my arms. I know that l'm starting to cry because I am thinking about the life we created and what it will become as we raise our child together. I bow, and Ardin comes to help me back to the table.

Serge

None of what she just did was planned. I was at that table when she was asked to sing. She just effortlessly switches. There is both a darkness and a light to her. I now can see a bit of what Damon sees in her. I think she could adapt to almost any situation. If I didn't know better, she would make a good spy and assassin. But I don't think Damon knows what she's fully capable of. I don't either, but I want to find out.

Serge says, “Now, back to business.”

“Fine,” I reply stiffly.

Serge says, “We dug into Chris before handing him over to the O'Sheas and Marconis.”

“I figured he'd pissed off Levi too and not just Micheal because Micheal never liked him. He would have killed him if I had asked. Did Mario get his hands dirty, too?” I ask. I know Chris pissed off the Italians too. Mario and Marco Marino handle that family.

Serge gasps. “How deep are you?”

I laugh. “I'm not, but my ghost might be.”

Serge turns to Damon. “Damon, who the fuck did you marry?”

Damon explains, “My beautiful dark kitten, a woman I never knew existed. I saw her at galas and wanted to talk to her, but she was the commitment type, so I kept my distance.”

Ardin chuckles. “She was with me in public a lot.”

Damon huffs, “Yeah, I eventually figured that out. But anyway, when I saw her fight and sing, that’s when I started chasing her. I finally caught her online and got my date. Just being near her and holding her hand was all it took. I went home with her. After a kiss, I knew that she was it for me.”

Ardin laughs. “He never left after that date.”

Damon quips, “You're one to talk. You only left her side once when you got cold feet.”

“Bossy Man, he came around, so drop it.”

Damon looks at Serge. “I worked to get this woman and will work twice as hard to keep her. So Serge, l'd never give her up. Not that she'd let me.”

“Damn right! You see, I can be a powerful ally or your worst nightmare. I'm sure Levi is still a bit sore from the assfucking my demon friends gave him. You're not the only one with ties to the Underworld, Serge.”

Serge says, “No one knows the demon couple. They're ghosts. I know you have a way of reaching Lady Darkness because you involved her in your little games.” I think he knows more than that, but he wants to hear it from me. Fine.

I laugh. “They aren't ghosts to me because I'm special. Well, I am, but I see them quite often when it suits me.”

Serge asks, “Do you plan on making a play to become a boss?”
