Chapter 124 Part 2
Chapter 124 Part 2
Serge
Part of me feels bad for deceiving Lynn and having Damon lie about the truth behind this meeting, but I want to see the unfiltered her. I know that she wears masks as I do and utilizes the comfort of the shadows, but tonight I want to see beyond that. I want a glimpse of the soul that haunts mine. I see them coming through the doors. I see her turn to face Damon and Ardin. Then I hear her sing WAP by Cardi B. I nearly spit out my vodka. I have to pull up my phone and record this, but I also have to hide my smirk behind a menu. She held her ring up to Damon's face, too. It was fucking priceless!
Lynn
Damon has his arm around my waist with his fingers on my belly. Ardin has his fingers intertwined with mine as we approach the table. Serge stands. He looks different. He is lighter but still troubled. His dark hair is combed back, trimmed goatee, a charcoal grey suit accentuates his broad shoulders and trim waist, but it's his eyes…the eyes that aren't wanting to lock with mine just yet. This man is haunted, but why? I thought he wanted this meeting. Now I know something is up!
Serge extends his hand to Damon, and they shake. He reluctantly extends it to Ardin, but not to me. Well, that's not nice, is it?
I extend my hand. I plan to introduce myself like we don't know each other. “Mrs. Lynn Cross-Crane,” I emphasized my last name, “nice to meet you, Mr. Petrov. ya nadeyus', chto my mozhem imet' grazhdanskiy razgovor i khoroshuyu yedu.” Which means, I hope we can have a civil conversation and a nice meal.
Serge's eyes go wide, and he takes my hand and shakes it gently before bringing it to his lips for a gentle kiss. Hmmm, odd. He knew I spoke Russian, as I did in a video that Damon showed him. Why the sudden change? Maybe Tony is partly right. Serge wants me, but not as a prize.
Damon pulls out my chair. Serge looks at Damon, and he just smirks and shrugs. I sit, and Damon pushes my chair in. The men take their seats. I hate having my back to the room, but I'll deal. After all, my friends are watching and listening.
Serge says, “YA udivlen, chto vy govorite porusski. tak priyatno.” Which means, I'm surprised that you speak Russian so fluently, pleasantly so.
I reply, “YA govoryu na mnogikh yazykakh i polon syurprizov. Odna iz mnogikh prichin, po kotoroy Deymon zhenilsya na mne.” Which translates to, I speak many languages and I'm full of surprises. One of the many reasons Damon married me.
Armond Fetti, the owner of this restaurant, approaches our table. I have known him since I was a little girl. He is a sly silver fox whose looks could rival those of George Clooney. “Bella, it's good to see you again. Ardin, it's been a while.”
Ardin nods. “It has, but we will be in more.”
Armond looks at Damon and offers his hand. “This must be the husband.”
Damon shakes Armond’s hand. “Damon Crane”
“Armond Fetti. I didn't allow Chris in here unless Lynn made the reservation. I don't want any trouble. Mr. Petrov, the same goes for you,” he says.
I just smile. “Really?” Damon growls as he glares at me.
“I told you that I have friends.”
Armond smiles. “Speaking of, I do believe that you owe me a song.”
“You were supposed to forget.”
Armond shakes his head as he smiles wider, “Not a chance.”
I roll my eyes. “Fine. After I eat a bit.”
The waiter comes to pour wine. I decline and order a tea. Armond says, “I thought you liked that vintage.”
“I do, just not tonight.”
Armond grins, “Very well. Enjoy your dinner,” before he walks away.
