Chapter 124: The Incidental Proposal
Chapter 124: The Incidental Proposal
Lynn
I think Damon isn't telling me everything about this meeting. Taking that into consideration, I will expect the best while being prepared for the worst. I have had an inkling that Serge figured out I was Lady Darkness after he sent that meme about which path I was to him. I have already been his destruction, and now I could be his life. That fact, I am sure, scares him on many levels. This meeting will prove if I am worth such a sacrifice.
We are in our room getting dressed. I am unsure if we are meeting Serge or Hades or perhaps a mix of both. Nevertheless, I will unapologetically be myself. I touched up my pink shimmer lip gloss, which matches the pink rose barrette in my hair. I adjusted the slit in my pink lace skirt and made sure my boobs weren't spilling out of the matching pink lace corset. I laughed as I looked at myself because right now I look like Persephone in spring.
Ardin looks at Damon and me as he pulls on his suit jacket, “I am coming.”
I offer him a sly smile. “Babe, confrontation isn't your thing.”
“I know, but I talked to Tony. I think he's right,” he replies.
Damon adjusts his black leather tie as he raises an eyebrow to ask, “Right about what?”
Ardin looks at him. “Serge wants Lynn. He might have wanted you, but Lynn is a far greater asset and prize. He knew she was linked to Lady Darkness. If he learns that she is her, all hell will break loose.”
Damon sighs as he runs his large hand over his face, which is a nervous habit of his. “That's a possibility I didn't want to consider.”
Ardin cocks his head. “Could it be?”
Damon nods. “Yes.”
“What the hell!”
Damon pulls me close. “He thinks he's won.”
“Won? How?”
Damon moves my hair off my shoulder and kisses my neck before he pulls back to look into my eyes. “He's collecting on an old debt. I agreed to allow him to assume one of my contracts because he took that bullet. He saved my life. I owe him.”
I sense the truth in that statement and it pisses me off. Serge supposedly sees Damon as a brother; you don't make deals like that with family, and honestly, you shouldn't with anyone. Life is priceless. “Just hold up a minute!”
Ardin shakes his head. “Damon, I saved Lynn's life. She stopped breathing after that fight with Chris. I didn't ask for anything in return other than for her to live.”
“Because you love her,” he replies with a sigh. “Serge is different.”
“He's a wounded animal. I know how to play this.”
Damon shakes his head. “I'm sorry, Lynn. This might not go as you plan.”
Tears stream down my face. Then it hits me! “I'm no contract! He can't collect me that way. You are contracted to me. You are to obey me! If I say Serge fucksoff, then he will fuckoff.”
“He can be persistent,” Damon says as we walk toward the living room.
“I can break that. He's got no clue what I'm truly capable of. Tony can already end him with a keystroke.” Ardin nods before I continue, “And well, I can end him publicly. I'm America's Sweetheart now, and I'm pregnant. It won't bode well threatening a pregnant lady, will it?”
“We haven't gone public yet,” Damon replies.
“I can easily change that. Plus, could he say no to me then, especially if I have a knife pressed against his balls?”
“I can't let you risk yourself,” he replies.
“What makes you think that even if he took you, he wouldn't come after me?” I ask.
“His word,” Damon answers back immediately.
“Well, I'm good with words, too. He is the Negotiator, right?” Damon nods. “Well, all else fails, I might just have an indecent proposal for him. He's a man after all. A good pussy is your kryptonite.”
“Lynn!” Damon warns.
“Damon.”
“Please…” I don't give Damon a chance to continue. “He's not taking my child's father, and that's final!” I step up to Damon and pull him down by his tie so that I can look into his eyes. “I will do anything I have to! You were young and stupid, and so was he. Women aren't objects. I'm sure some of his underlings agree and are itching for a chance to take down the Devil, and I can give them that chance! My connections can have a militia ready in under an hour.”
Ardin asks, “Did your contract stipulate that you'd never stop having Subs or slaves?”
“No,” Damon responds flatly.
Ardin yells, “Bob!”
Bob walks over to us. “I've been listening. Was it written or verbal?”
Damon replies, “Verbal and then written.”
Bob thinks for a moment. “Well, Lynn isn't a contract, so she's not obligated to be used for fulfillment. So, since you stopped it put your contract in limbo. Hades made the mistake of waiting too long to collect. He banked on the fact that he thought you'd never change. Plus, we know he won't take this to court. Doll, when Hades brings up the contract call and put me on speaker.”
“Ok, but what if he still wants Damon's head?” I ask.
Bob shrugs. “Then go through with either your destruction of Hades or your proposal. Just watch how you word that proposal.”
“I will, plus I'm hoping he still fears me and Tony a bit.”
Ardin chuckles. “Hun, the only ones that don't fear the demon couple live here.” That brings a smile to my face.
Bob nudges Damon. “Now maybe you get why I called her Dark Kitten.”
Damon grins. “Yeah, I do, Bob, and I love her more each day. It's time to go dance with the Devil.”
“Now I can answer the Joker’s question as I am about to dance with the Devil in the pale moonlight.”
“You are banned from my Batcave,” Damon replies.
We laughed as we got into the limo. When we arrived at Armond’s, they wanded us outside the restaurant. My explanation of my bra and piercing passed with flying colors. “I swear, Lynn…” Damon scoffs.
“Pussy rules the world!” I replied. I just couldn't resist.
