Chapter Seventy-One (Part Two)
Levi's POV
Cassandra reached out and cupped my cheek. Her bottom lip, even though she had bit it, I could see that it was trembling. "Oh Blossom." I murmured softly and relished in the intensity of the sparks that I felt. "Come here" I pulled her into me and placed her in my lap. "I got you baby, he won't hurt you ever again. None of them will." Her body was shivering even though she felt as hot as lava. Her scent was strong but it wasn't alluring like it should be for one in heat. Cassandra pressed her face into my neck and I let her. I did too and breathed in her beautiful scent.
I brought her arm up and wrapped it around my shoulder and lifted her up. She was light, like she hadn't eaten since she's been gone. She was already small as it is and I hated how thin she felt in my arms. I felt how uneasy Cassandra felt when I stood. She also had this familiar smell on her that made me and my wolf anxious. Cassie tightened her hold on my jacket and I keep she was feeling lightheaded, I was as well. Whatever she was feeling I felt it too.
"Hey," I made her look up at me, a frown painted onto my face. Cassandra whimpered softly when she noticed that, I then leaned down and sniffed her because this weird scent was all over her. "no wonder you're confused. You smell like the whole plant." I told her, and tightened my hold on her.
"Plant?" she asked confused.
"Water hemlock." I sighed with a frown. "You've been poisoned." I took her bottle of water from her and opened it then sniffed it. I coughed as the smell stinged my senses from inhaling it. "Yeah it's in this. Who gave it to you?"
"Mitch" She whispered and looked at him in a dazed glance. I growled because I knew exactly who 'Mitch' was. In fact his name wasn't Mitch. He was Katie's husband, his name is Heath. He's a monstrous person. I'm surprised Cassandra isn't cowering away from him.
"I'm tired" she said while closing her eyes.
"Then sleep. We will be going home soon enough." I whispered and snuggled into me more.
My brothers came up to me and gazed down at Cassie lovingly before speaking.
"There's more of them in the woods nearby. Want us to take care of them before we tell Scott the location of the warehouse they're in?" Jordan said, still staring down at her. He wanted to never look away, just in case she would disappear from us again. But that would never happen. I wouldn'tet it. We wouldn't let it.
As we spoke softly to each other Lux began growling. But before I could ask him what was wrong an explosion behind me went off and the four of us were all tossed away due to the blast. Cassandra rolled from my arms and I to a tree. I hit my head on a rock and everything went black for a few moments.
My eyes snapped open due to someone shaking me. It was Zachary. "...up. Get up, Levi. We have to go. NOW!" he demanded. I stared at him, his face was wet. He looked as if he had been crying.
"Come on, Jordan has Cass and he's taking her home to see Doc. But we need to go." He took my hands and everything suddenly warped as he teleported us. We were in Mom and Dads house when everything stopped spinning. The living room to be exact.
I heard hushed talking down the hall where the bedrooms were at. I got to my feet and Jordan and I followed the sounds. I scented Zach and my mate the closer we got. "Dad?" my father, Noah turned away from the doorway he was standing in. "What's going on?"
"Is that Jordan?" Zachary called out.
"I'm here brother.." he stepped from beside me and walked past Dad and into the room.
"What's going on?" I asked . My tone was full of worry due to the scent of blood lingering from the room in front of me, and yet I was afraid to enter. I don't think I wanted to know who the blood was coming from.
Dad placed his hands on my shoulders and squeezed them. "It's Cassandra. She was hurt after that blast went off..."
"What..?" I tried to move past him, but Dad wouldn't allow me to enter. "You don't want to see her like this son." he pleaded with those hazel eyes that matched my older sisters when worried.
"She's my mate!" I said. "Nothing, and I mean nothing will keep me from loving her any less!" I pushed his hands a day and moved past him. When I entered, Mom and my two brothers, Scott, Bailey and Doctor Jarvis were all staying around the twin sized bed that I presume my mate was lying on.
"That's it Dove, stay awake. I know it's hard, but you'll be better soon." Jordan's voice was soft as he spoke to our mate. Only I heard the desperate plea he had when he talked to her. Going around to the other side I went and stood beside my older sister.
"It hurts!" Cassandra's voice was cracking and weak. I forced myself to look at her, I was looking at everything but her. I didn't want to see how badly hurt she was, but the sound of her pain filled voice forced me to glance down at her.
Her eyes were open, but I could see how much she wanted to close them. Scott had taken one of his hands and placed it over a bloody wound on her belly. "What happened?" I asked them desperately.
"Angela! That bitch stabbed her with this!" Zach thrust a knife at me, upon picking it up I dropped it. It stung ferociously when my skin touched the blade.
"Is this the blade that–"
"Yes, the very same!" Mom growled. "I thought I had it destroyed, but I guess you can't destroy something that's been blessed by both witches and werewolves!" she shook her head, clearly irritated by finding out the value that nearly killed her and her wolf wasn't gone like she thought.
I took Cassie's hand and brought it to my lips. I kissed her knuckles tenderly which made my mate look up at me. "Levi.. I'm sorry." I frowned. None of this was her fault, she had no reason to be sorry.
"I'm here baby.." I told her.
"I can't feel Petra anymore." She said, tears falling down the sides of her face.
"I know, but I doubt the goddess will give you your wolf only to take her away. Just give her time to heal."
Bailey leaned over and whispered in my ear. "The blade she was stabbed with is the most lethal thing a wolf can be hurt with. It's a death sentence Levi.." I knew that but chose to ignore it. It's never been heard of for the goddess herself to bless the birth of one of her children. So I'm choosing to believe that both Cassandra and Petra would be alright.
"No!" I got down on my knees and took my mate's face and made her look at me. "You will fight, you won't give up. Do you hear me? We need you, Silas needs you. Promise me that you will fight to stay alive." I pleaded with her. Regardless of what I believed, it wouldn't help if she thought she had no reason to come back.
Cassandra's lips trembled as she stared at me. Her resolve to stay awake was weighing on her, I could tell just by looking into those beautiful grey eyes of hers. "I cannot make that promise," I growled, but stopped when she spoke again. "..but I can promise that I will try."
That was good enough for me.
