Chapter 15: CHAPTER 15

Chapter Fifteen

Kieran’s POV

I've been lying down on this massive bed since Eva left. I sighed tiredly as I shifted on the bed. I groaned inwardly.

Then I felt it.

A sharp pain

Unbearable.

A painful agony tore through my chest, unlike anything I had ever experienced. It felt as though invisible claws had sunk into my heart, twisting and squeezing it. My breath came in ragged gasps, my vision blurred, and I clutched at my chest, trying to stop the pain .

I gritted my teeth as the pain forcefully threw me to the tiled floor, my body convulsing on the floor . Every muscle in my body screamed in protest as I curled into myself, gasping for air.

What is this?

The sharp pang struck again, this time worse, making my entire body jerk. My head was banging

“She’s crying.” Kaelith's voice cut through my pain.

Then it hit me.

I froze. My breath hitched.

“What?” I rasped through clenched teeth, my voice hoarse.

“Our mate,” he whispered, almost as if he was suffering, too. “She’s crying. And whenever she cries, we will feel this pain.” he said sadly.

So what?!

My stomach twisted violently. This… Is this because of her?

Damn her!!

Another wave of torment hit, and I let out a strangled groan, my fingers curling into fists against the floor. My wolf whimpered inside me torn between anger and concern.

It was the bond. The mate bond.

I wanted to reject her, wanted nothing to do with her yet my body, my very soul, refused to let me cut that connection so easily.

I slammed my fist against the cold floor, growling through the agony.

Then, suddenly, the door burst open.

“What the fuck—”

Damian’s voice was the first I heard, I could imagine his shocked face

Lucas stormed in right after him, and they both came to an abrupt stop, eyes wide with horror as they took in my state.

“Kieran!” Damian rushed forward, his brows furrowed in concern. “What the hell is happening to you?”

I couldn’t answer. I could barely think.

I was on the floor, shaking, breathing hard. The pain was still there but slowly it was beginning to subside.

I sucked in a breath and pushed myself up on one elbow, wiping the sweat off my forehead. My body was still weak, but the sharp pain was gone.

“Kaelith said she was crying” I said, my voice hoarse and weak.

Damian looked at me confusedly, “who?”

I looked up at them, the dizziness clearing of and I could see the recognition on their faces

Lucas was the first to speak.

“Well,” he said darkly, crossing his arms. “This wouldn’t be happening if you’d just approved her execution. If you had killed her the moment she stepped foot in this pack, you wouldn’t be going through this now.”

A deep, rumbling growl erupted from Damian’s chest. His hands clenched into fists at his sides, his entire body shook with fury.

“You’re heartless,” Damian spat.

Lucas scoffed. “I’m practical.”

“Practical?” Damian’s voice was thick with rage. “She’s just a girl. Her only crime is being Darius’ daughter. She hasn’t raised a sword against you, hasn’t harmed this pack in any way—”

“She doesn’t have to,” Lucas cut him off coldly. His eyes burned with raw hatred. “Her father did. He murdered my parents, Damian. He slaughtered them in cold blood. Don’t stand there and act like I don’t have the right to hate her.”

For a moment, there was silence between them.

Then Damian let out a bitter laugh.

“You think you’re the only one who lost someone?” His voice was sharp and angry. “My parents were murdered too. By his men. By that his fucking Beta.”

Lucas’ jaw clenched. “Then you should want her dead as much as I do.”

Damian took a step closer. “I want Darius dead,” he snapped. “Not his daughter. If you want vengeance, Lucas, then focus on the man who actually pulled the trigger. But instead, you want to torment a girl who had no say in the matter.”

“She’s not innocent,” Lucas hissed.

“She’s not guilty either,” Damian shot back. “Tell me, what has she done? Did she kill your parents herself? Did she give the orders?”

Lucas didn’t answer.

Damian scoffed, shaking his head. “You’re just looking for someone to blame.”

Lucas' nostrils flared. “She is Darius' blood.”

“And so are hundreds of others,” Damian argued. “What about his soldiers? His generals? You don’t hunt them down with the same passion, do you?”

Lucas growled. “They aren’t sleeping in our cells.”

Damian let out a humorless laugh. “And yet, if she weren’t, you wouldn’t even give her a second thought.”

Lucas hands curled into fists. “Why are you supporting her, huh??.”

Damian’s eyes flashed with anger. “I am telling you the right thing to do.”

“You're in love with her, huh?.”

“She’s suffering, you motherfucker!.”

They were close now, their bodies tense, their eyes locked in a furious stare.

Then, just as Lucas took a step forward, his hand curled up in a fist.

I knew what was about to happen

“Enough!” I commended

Both men froze, turning to me.

I exhaled slowly, dragging a hand down my face. My head is still banging.

I locked eyes with Damian.

And then, to everyone’s shock including my own—I said, “Get out!.”

Damian’s eyes widened slightly. “What?”

I repeated. “I said get out.”

For the first time, Damian looked truly taken aback.

Lucas, on the other hand, smirked.

“You heard him.”

Damian turned to him sharply, his fists still clenched. For a moment, I thought he was going to punch Lucas in the face. But instead, with a sharp glare in my direction, he turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

Silence.

Lucas let out a low chuckle. “Well, that was satisfying.”

I didn’t respond. I simply stared at the door Damian had just walked out of.

I stood up, my body protesting in pain. I staggered towards the restroom, leaving Lucas alone in the bedroom.

“What the hell Kieran?!” I heard Lucas exclaim behind me but I ignored him.
