Chapter 16: CHAPTER 16

Chapter Sixteen

~DARKMOON PACK~

Kieran’s POV

I woke up feeling like I hadn’t slept at all. I actually didn't. I wasn't able to. My whole body ached from the torment.

I groaned and sat up, rubbing a hand down my face. My body still ached, but the worst part wasn’t the physical exhaustion. It was the confusion. The frustration.

I stood, forcing the thoughts away, and moved to my massive bathroom. Stripping off my clothes, I stepped under the cold shower, letting the water wash over me. It did ease my pain and also quenched fire raging inside me—if only for a moment.

I am angry. Very angry

Once I was done, I dried off and got into my dark trousers and a black shirt, rolling up the sleeves to my forearms. My reflection in the mirror was the same, yet somehow different. My jaw was locked, my expression unreadable. But beneath it all, I knew—knew that something was shifting inside me.

I hated it.

Shaking off thoughts, I left my suite, stepping into the hall.

The moment I opened the door, Jay, my personal bodyguard, was already standing there. His p brown eyes met mine for a brief second before he bowed.

“Alpha,” he greeted.

I gave him a small nod before walking forward, and as expected, he walked behind me following my lead

“Good morning, Alpha”

“Alpha Kieran”

“Good morning Alpha”

As I moved through the halls, maids and guards paused in their tasks to bow in greeting. Their voices echoed around me but I barely acknowledged them. My mind was elsewhere.

I needed answers.

And I knew exactly where to get them.

Stepping outside, the cool breeze also sent their greetings, I headed toward the stables where our best horses were kept. My eyes landed on Kayla, my pure whitemare, and without hesitation, I moved toward her.

Jay also reached for another horse to follow me.

“You’re not coming,” I said flatly.

He paused. “Alpha?”

“I need to go alone.” My tone left no room for argument.

Greg hesitated but nodded. “Understood.”

I climbed on Kayla, gripping the reins tightly before kicking off. She took off instantly, galloping down the long stretch of land surrounding my mansion.

I rode fast and faster than I usually would, letting the wind whip against my face as I pushed forward, away from my home, away from my responsibilities.

I passed the town in a blur ignoring the greetings of the people who noticed their Alpha on a horse, and soon, the open road turned into thick, towering trees

The journey was long, but I didn’t stop. Not even when the trees thickened.

And then I finally saw it.

A small hut standing and hidden deep within the woods.

I pulled Kayla to a stop, jumping off and tying her to a tree nearby. She neighed softly, almost in protest, but I ignored her.

The hut was old, the wooden structure covered in vines and strange markings. The air around it hummed with something unnatural, something forbidden.

And standing at the entrance, as if she had been waiting for me all along, was the woman I came to see.

She wore red. A deep, blood-like red that draped over her body in layers. Her silver hair fell past her shoulders, her dark eyes staring into my soul.

Vanya.

A shaman. One of the many who had been banished from Darkmoon Pack long ago.

She tilted her head slightly, her lips curving into a knowing smile. “You came.”

I stepped forward, my jaw tight. “You know why I’m here.”

“I do.” Her voice was smooth, eerily calm.

“Then tell me,” I growled.

She shook her head. “I have no answers for you.”

I curled my hand into a fist

The last thing I needed was riddles.

“You’re lying,” I retorted ,stepping closer. “You know exactly why I’m feeling this—this pain—whenever she cries.”

Vanya didn’t flinch. “It is not for me to say.”

My wolf snapped inside me but I calmed him down. My hands clenched tightly.

She was playing games with me.

Before I could stop myself, I lunged at her.

I grabbed her by the throat, slamming her against the wooden door of the hut. Her robes pooled around her, but she didn’t struggle. She simply stared at me with those dark, knowing eyes.

“Tell me,” I hissed, my fingers tightening.

Still, she did not react.

Fury burned through my veins, my wolf howling in frustration.

“I will break every bone in your body if you don’t—”

Before I could finish, a force unlike anything I had ever felt waved through me, throwing me backward with such force that I crashed into the ground, the impact rattling my bones.

I let out a sharp growl, pushing myself up, but she was already standing over me, her expression blank.

“You cannot fight what has already been decided,” she said, her voice softer now, almost… pitying.

I gritted my teeth. “And what exactly has been decided?”

Vanya sighed, stepping back toward her hut. “You already know the answer to that.”

I felt my entire body tense, my claws itching to tear something apart.

She turned her back on me, walking toward the door. “Now leave.”

My wolf roared inside me, and before I knew it, I lashed out.

With a single strike, I knocked over one of the wood supporting her hut, sending a section of the roof crashing down. The ground shook and I looked at her with my darkest eyes.

Vanya didn’t flinch.

She simply turned her head slightly, her voice sharper this time.

“Destroy all you want,” she said. “But it won’t change your fate.”

Her words made me halt.

I stood there, chest heaving, fists clenched at my sides. My anger was a wildfire, consuming me, but even through the rage I knew.

She was right.

I hated it.

Without another word, I turned on my heel and stormed back to Kayla, untying the reins and mounting her in one swift motion.

I didn’t look back.

I rode away, faster this time.

To hell with the fking Fate.

To hell with Sienna Valerius.

I will destroy you, Sienna.
