Chapter Thirty One
Chapter Thirty
POV Elle:
I'm still too stunned by my latest interaction with Rain to really do anything else but sit back down on the bed. The huge bed with a fur blanket on it. A part of me wants to curl back into the bed that smells like pine and the woods just like him. A small knock on the door grabs back my attention. "Come in, I say unsure of who else it could be knocking on the door right now." A women steps through the door with black hair and steely green eyes. She's holding a tray and staring at me like she is really happy to see me. But, why?
"Hi Lun- I mean Elle, it's so nice to finally meet you. My name is Bex I'm a she wolf here at the pack," She steps over and sits down the tray of glorious looking food on a small table tucked into a corner I hadn't noticed yet. Suddenly, I feel really hungry but also a sense of peace, like I belong here. I could belong here with her, with these people. I could belong with Rain here. We could sleep in this bed together every night. No, Elle I chide myself you don't want to belong here, you need to get home and get the fuck away from all this mess. There is no such thing as witches, or wolves, or fated mates.
I look over to the she wolf again as I've become lost in my thoughts. Shes staring at me waiting for me to say something or do something. So, I put on my fake tarot reader smile and I say, "Nice to meet you Bex, I'm Elle." I hold out my hand for her to shake and Bex bows instead. Well, thats fucking strange. So, I bow in return. Bex snorts. "You don't know how this all works do you?"
"How what works?" I ask
Bex walks over to the the table and picks up a cup of coffee from the tray and hands it to me. "Here, you look like you could use this."
I take the steaming hot cup of coffee and drink. God I missed coffee in the mornings. Peering over the cup I look at Bex who is now sitting in the ajoining chair. I take a deep breath and sit back down on the bed.
"Look I don't know who you are but, I don't believe in all this stuff?" Bex looks at me surprised and raises her eyebrows.
"Stuff." she repeats.
"All this stuff." She says once more using her hands in quatation marks. "Elle I'm going to hold your hand when I say this. But, all of this stuff is real. I know you have recently gone through a trauma but, you're really here.
"You're here within our pack house, you and Alpha Rain.
She paused for a second like she was picking at her words. "Elle we are going to keep you safe. Safer then those witches."
"Those witches are my coven, were my coven." I honestly don't know anymore. I just want my life to feel normal again." I'm exhausted. I put the cup of coffee down. I begin to pick at the amazing meal Bex has brought me. Maybe pack living isn't as bad as I thought.
Bex looks at me with pity in her eyes. It's hard to tell. She stands up and says, "Come with me. Why, don't you see how we live get to know us."
I see her hand outstretched to mine and I smile up. I feel a small wind around me move. I don't know if Bex feels it or not. But I do. The spirits are trying to speak to me again.
I strain trying to hear them. I feel a little blocked disconnected almost. It hits me this isn't my land and maybe whatever magic I have might be harder to connect with here than at the coven's lands.
But none the less I hear the spirits chant. trust her. so I do. I get up and I walk with her. we start down the hall way. I hear people milling about downstairs. we walk down the spiral staircase and immediately I'm greeted with eyes as people stop and stare at me. I'm aware that this is a big deal. I feel the air move about me once more and I hear the spirits or maybe it's the wolves as all their eyes become colbolt blue Luna, luna Luna.
It's like a song intoxicating. I want to be their Luna. whatever that means.
Bex looks at me and spits out to all the wolves around her. what the fuck are you all looking at? They each bow their heads down in a moment of respect or fear I honestly can't tell secretly I think you're a bad ass. I walk past them and nod a quick hello. I'm unsure of what I am to them.
Bex keeps walking and we head out of what looks like a common room and we walk together hand in hand down a hallway. the hallway holds different pictures of men and women on each side of the wall. The end of the hallway. there's a large wooden door. there are voices coming from the other side of that door. I hear rain shouting things and I cannot understand. I want to go to him. I also still feel like I hate him a little.
Bex looks at me sensing my unease. we aren't going in there. He's in a mood. I look at her puzzled. She points at the wall. this is the wall of the alphas. every single pack alpha is on this wall. I look to see rains picture and don't see it. We only put the alpha on the wall once he has met is Luna his mate. she points to the opposite end of the wall. This wall is filled with pictures of powerful and beautiful looking women.
Each woman is different in her beauty but you can tell each were loved.
Elle it is not my place to tell you who you are to the pack. but I will say that it's an honor to meet someone like you. the reason the wolves downstairs were on edge is because they can sense you arent a wolf. they know you're different. I know you're different. It's been hundreds of years since we've had someone like you come to the pack.
"why" I ask?
Bex hesitates but then she clears her throat.
I step back to run away but, something hard comes into contact with my back. Woods and pine fill my nose. Rain. I turn around and see his beautiful eyes looking back at me.
"What are we doing here?"he asks as he looks down at. I want him to snake his tattooed arms around me but he doesn't.
I'm just showing her the pack house alpha. "Bex is being very welcoming."
I chime in. I don't want her getting into trouble.
"What were you just doing?"
I blurt out. Rain narrows his eyes at me like he's annoyed.
He narrows his eyes at me. Arms. crossed. tattoos rippling. over his arms like snakes.
"Pack business". He says.
"Am I not a part of the pack?" I boldly say to him.
Rain shrugs." If you want to be yeah. "
I blush.
Do I want to be?
Bex backs up and says," I think it's time I go do some training with the young pups. I forgot it was my turn today."
Rain chuckles a small laugh escapes from his lips. He waves a cordial goodbye to Bex.
"Sure you did."
Rain sticks out his tongue at her in a playful manner.
Bex walks off flipping him the bird.
He leans down next to me to whisper in my ear. "I think it's time we go take a walk and talk this out.Or we can fuck it out. whichever you want to do." He snickers. He extends his hand waiting for me to take it.
An hour ago I wanted to fucking kill him, he did reject me after all. but then he came back and saved me. why? was his rejection a lie?
Fuck it. I
have to know what all this means. I may have not forgiven him or forgotten how he has treated me. But, I have to know what's going on and I need to formulate a plan to get Silas my father back.
