Chapter 75 I am pregnant (End S1)
“Danieru, I want to separate from you.”
Danieru was stunned; it felt as if his soul had left his body when Camilla said that. He stared into her eyes—there was not the slightest hint of doubt in them.
“A-are you joking?” Danieru asked, forcing a small smile as cold sweat began to seep from his pores.
“No ... I’m very serious right now.” Camilla pushed Danieru away and gave a faint smile once he was no longer hovering over her. She felt relieved after saying it, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.
Danieru, now standing, looked at Camilla in disbelief at the reality he was facing. How could this be? How could Camilla say something like that so easily?
“What did our time together mean? Why can you say something like that so easily?” Danieru restrained himself from acting harshly; his hands were clenched into fists.
“Isn’t it already very clear?” Camilla sat down on the bed and looked at Danieru, her smile softer now.
“What?” Danieru asked.
“You’ve found the woman you love. Go back to your first love, make her happy, give her a good life.” Camilla removed the necklace from her neck and held it out to Danieru, returning it to him.
“I don’t love her anymore. I love you, and that will never change. I want you and no one else. Camilla, I love you. I don’t want to let you go.” Danieru grabbed Camilla’s wrist, holding it tightly.
“I will protect you forever. Because you are my breath, my heart, my blood, and you are my soul. You are my life. I can’t live without you!”
Hearing that, Camilla held back a laugh. She hadn’t expected to hear such words from Danieru.
“Am I that funny? Are you testing me?” Danieru looked slightly relieved.
Camilla shook her head. “Danieru, have you forgotten our agreement? Whoever falls in love first will leave without a trace and never see each other again.”
Danieru swallowed hard.
“Our contract marriage ended the moment one of us fell in love.”
“No! I already said that promise no longer applies,” Danieru replied.
Hearing that, Camilla lowered her head. She looked deeply disappointed by Danieru’s words.
“Have you forgotten our wedding vows?” Danieru asked.
Camilla took a deep breath. She hadn’t forgotten those vows; she still remembered every word they had spoken.
“Answer me!” Danieru shouted. His grip on Camilla’s hand tightened, surely hurting her. He fought desperately to control his emotions, trying not to cross the line.
“You’re so naive, Danieru.” Camilla looked at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Camilla ... haven’t you thought about our marriage?” Danieru swallowed hard, not expecting her to be truly serious about separating.
“From the very beginning, we played with those wedding vows, Danieru. I hate someone who breaks a promise unilaterally. I never said I agreed with your way. You forgot the first promise we made, then you used wedding vows that were completely useless because our first promise had already been made and had to be fulfilled.” Camilla brushed Danieru’s hand away, and he immediately let go.
“Camilla, can’t we let go of that promise and live well in the future?” Danieru looked desperate.
“Danieru ... a promise is a debt, and I hate doing that. If from the start we had truly intended to marry, none of this would have happened. From the beginning we toyed with marriage; our vow in the church back then was only a manipulation of the contract marriage agreement.” Camilla stood up, folded her arms, and exhaled slowly.
“Can’t we be selfish just this once? Keep this marriage and build our love within one family?” Danieru asked.
Camilla looked at their wedding photo.
“It’s not too late to change everything. Camilla, we still have a chance.”
Camilla felt amused hearing that.
“I love you, and you feel the same.”
Camilla looked at Danieru. “I never said I love you, and I don’t feel love for you. I only see you as a companion who fought beside me. You are not the one in my heart, and I’m not interested in romantic love between a man and a woman.”
It hurt ...
Danieru felt his heart truly shatter; he even grimaced as the wound in his heart grew deeper. Every sentence Camilla spoke was like an invisible knife stabbing him repeatedly.
“I only love you as an ordinary person. I don’t love you as a man, Danieru.”
“But I love you. Can you learn to love me?” Danieru asked again. His body trembled; he couldn’t even control the tone of his voice.
“Camilla, please give me a chance!”
Camilla shook her head, looking at him. “Love gives birth to selfishness, and selfishness gives birth to bad things. I already know all the stories about your father and mother. I also know your father’s past very well. Because of love, he did something terrible to your family, and it affected the lives of innocent people.”
Danieru froze, feeling paralyzed.
“Camilla, why can’t you feel it? Are you not opening your heart because of your bad past? Listen ... I love you sincerely. I don’t care what you’re like; I don’t blame you for anything.”
“No ... I’m no longer dependent on the past. That’s not what made me make such a big decision in our relationship.” Camilla approached Danieru and lowered herself to match the height of the man who now sat weakly with his head bowed.
“Does my love mean nothing to you?” Danieru asked. He lifted his head to meet her gaze; tears had begun streaming down his face.
“Thank you for loving me, but I’m sorry ... I can’t.”
“Camilla ....”
Camilla wiped the tears pooling on Danieru’s cheeks. “Don’t cry, you’re a man. You should be stronger and able to control your feelings.”
“But this hurts!” Danieru didn’t care that he was crying in front of a woman; he couldn’t hold it back anymore. His heart was shattered, his feelings treated like trash by Camilla.
“Listen to me ...” Camilla hugged Danieru and stroked his hair. “... Love doesn’t always mean possession, right? I don’t love you, and I don’t want to force it. If I pretend to love you, I’ll only become a loser doing something foolish.”
Danieru closed his eyes; Camilla’s embrace made him feel as though he were drowning in a sea of blood from his wounded heart.
“Not only would I become a loser, I would make your life a lie. The happiness you feel would be nothing but an illusion, and I would suffer from constantly doing something my heart doesn’t want. By pretending to love you, I would hurt you and myself at the same time. We would only wound each other, and when death comes, everything would turn into regret.”
Danieru hugged Camilla tightly; he truly couldn’t bear it.
“I care about you, I cherish you, and I want you. But ... but not as a woman to a man. I only see you as a friend, a best friend, and family. I can’t force myself to make you the man I love.”
Danieru could say nothing more. He had truly lost this time. Yes ... if he forced it and acted selfishly, Camilla would be hurt. But if he didn’t follow his heart, then he alone would suffer.
“Camilla ... why are you doing this?” Danieru asked hoarsely.
“Because I don’t want you to live in a world of illusion. You are someone very precious to me, and I don’t want you to live in uncertainty. Danieru ... understand, I can’t do that. This isn’t because of my bad past, but because I truly don’t see love in my heart as something beyond the ordinary. I can’t continue this marriage. Besides hurting the beauty of a family, it would prove that we’re trampling on the true meaning of marriage.”
Danieru could no longer hold back his tears; he remained in Camilla’s embrace, clutching her and crying his heart out.
“Listen ... our relationship won’t just end like this. Because you and I ... we already share a strong bond. Danieru ... we can still meet and greet each other. We can still maintain a good relationship.”
“Camilla ....”
“Ssssttt ... be quiet.” Camilla released her embrace, then smiled and placed the necklace Rachel had once given her around Danieru’s neck. She felt relieved, wiped his tears, and gently kissed his forehead.
“You fool ... you’ve become a man who cries so easily. Where’s the guy who once offered to be my friend? Did you kill him?” Camilla asked.
Danieru looked into Camilla’s eyes—the woman who rejected his love and ended their relationship in such an unusual way.
“Not yet. That foolish man isn’t dead.”
Camilla felt relieved.
“Alright, let’s separate on good terms, Camilla.”
Hearing that, Camilla nodded, smiled, and stood up. She took a divorce document and a pen from the table, then handed them to Danieru.
“Sign it,” Camilla said.
Danieru slowly took the divorce papers and signed them.
“Tomorrow you’ll become the leader of the company, and now I’ll call you by a title,” Camilla said. She took the paper and handed another sheet to Danieru.
“What title?” Danieru asked. He took the paper Camilla gave him and, without thinking, signed it as well.
“Today you become a soon-to-be wealthy widower,” Camilla replied.
“You too ... you’re just a poor widow now.”
They stopped talking, looked at each other, then laughed.
“Hah ... we’re finally divorced. So? Do you feel relieved?” Camilla asked.
Danieru stopped laughing and gave a bitter smile. How could he feel relieved?
“I’m relieved, because this frees us from that marriage. Danieru, a marriage based on an agreement is not perfect.”
Danieru looked at Camilla again. “It seems you understand these things very well.”
Camilla glanced at him. “Oh, of course ... I’m a novelist, and I’ve often experienced what a story is. You know? When I create a character in a story, I see them as myself. Experiencing the things that have been destined—whether they bring happiness or carve wounds. I ... I already know it all.”
“Tch ... I don’t know why I fell in love with you.”
“Because I’m a good woman,” Camilla said.
“And that good woman just broke my heart,” Danieru replied.
“You fool ....” Camilla stood up, walked to the table, and took an envelope from her bag. She handed the white envelope to Danieru, then stood with her hands on her hips.
“What is this?” Danieru asked. He took it and opened it slowly. As he read it, his expression grew increasingly annoyed.
“I’m pregnant with your child, and we will raise this child together.”
“TOGETHER?” Danieru shouted.
Camilla nodded, without a trace of regret on her face.
“WE JUST GOT DIVORCED, YOU FOOL!” Danieru yelled.
Camilla looked at him. “So ... what’s the problem?”
Danieru stood up immediately. “HOW CAN WE WORK WELL TOGETHER IF WE’RE NOT MARRIED? DID YOU HIT YOUR HEAD AND BECOME EVEN MORE FOOLISH?”
“Come on, you don’t need to yell at me like that,” Camilla replied lightly.
Danieru was speechless. “Terrifying woman. You really can drive me crazy.”
“Fool!” Camilla snapped. Her face looked extremely satisfied with what she had just done; she truly had no regrets.
“Camilla, let’s get married again. I’ll take responsibility. No matter what, that child needs a complete family.”
“No, I don’t want to marry you again.” Camilla turned her face away and continued, “I don’t want to marry a foolish man like you again.”
“Camilla, please.”
“Besides being foolish, you’re very easy to deceive. You signed so easily, and with such shallow thinking you let me go. Ah ... you foolish man, just die.”
Danieru fell silent, then reread the document he had signed earlier. His expression turned blank, and as he read further, his eyes widened in shock.
Camilla, seeing that, felt relieved and smiled.
“Did you trick me?”
“What do you think?”
Danieru immediately stepped closer and hugged Camilla, happiness flooding through him. Truly foolish—he realized it now. Camilla hadn’t divorced him; she had ended their contract agreement, turning him into a real husband without any contractual ties. Camilla had made him feel like he had fallen to the depths of hell, only to lift him up to heaven.
“Thank you, Camilla.”
“For what?”
“Thank you for making me your husband and your last love. And ... and thank you for giving this foolish man a child.”
“Yes ... I hope our child doesn’t inherit your foolish brain. And I also hope this child won’t be as hasty as you,” Camilla replied.
“B-but ... I ... I’ve disappointed my father-in-law.”
“Father gave me a choice, and he will never restrain me. My happiness is his happiness.”
Danieru released his embrace, leaned closer, and kissed Camilla’s forehead. Then he captured her lips, pouring out the love he could no longer hold back.
Camilla immediately returned Danieru’s gentle kiss. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the strange sensation coursing through her body.
‘This is the end of everything. Danieru, I choose you, and I love you. I won’t run, and I will protect everything with you. Forever ... only like this with you.’
...
While Danieru and Camilla were feeling happy, in a place far away and unreachable to ordinary people, Zinan was making a visit to Golden Snake’s laboratory.
The man walked slowly beside Cancri, feeling extremely pleased now that Cancri had completed what he had requested.
Zinan felt nervous, while Cancri, walking next to him, wore an indifferent expression. The two kept walking, occasionally passing Golden Snake’s subordinates.
“Mr. Snake, are you truly sure it’s perfect?” Zinan asked.
Hearing his ally’s question, Cancri glanced at him. “You’ve only just started working with me. It’s only natural for you to have doubts about this, Mr. Xrezone.”
Zinan swallowed hard. “Forgive me ... I just feel a bit uncertain. This goes beyond logic, and well ... I need to see it with my own eyes.”
Cancri merely nodded and stopped in front of a massive, towering steel door. A guard stood before it, and clearly, he was no ordinary person.
“Ludino, how is everything?” Cancri asked.
Ludino crossed his arms. “Miss Rebecca put everything on properly. And because of your request, I even had to babysit her child for a while.”
Hearing that, Cancri simply nodded. He looked at Zinan, who appeared tense—perhaps the man truly couldn’t suppress his curiosity any longer.
“Is Sister Rebecca inside?” Cancri asked.
“Yes, and I’m grateful Vulcan came quickly to pick up their child.”
Zinan remained silent as he listened to their conversation.
“Open the door,” Cancri ordered.
Ludino immediately opened it. Layer by layer, the steel door unlocked. The final barrier was a glass door, and through it, they could clearly see a woman sitting calmly inside.
“Let’s go in,” Cancri said.
Zinan stepped forward with Cancri, hoping everything would go well and according to his wishes.
After walking for a while, they finally reached the glass door. They entered and came face to face with a beautiful long-haired woman. She was Rebecca, Cancri’s adoptive older sister.
“How is it, Sister?” Cancri asked.
“Everything is fine. Come, I’ll show both of you.” Rebecca walked ahead, passing rows of glass tubes.
Growing more nervous, Zinan followed slowly until they arrived at another glass-walled room.
The glass door opened automatically, and without hesitation, they stepped inside. There was only one glass tube in the room, and it was the result of Zinan’s request.
“This is the result. The DNA combination of Mr. Xrezone and Miss Camilla is quite good and compatible. I’ve formed it into an embryo, and it will develop like a normal fetus,” Rebecca explained.
Without realizing it, Zinan stepped forward and placed his hand on the glass tube. He felt happiness—an emotion he couldn’t even put into words.
“This is like in vitro fertilization, and we’ll see the perfect result over the next nine months. Remember, this is not a cloned human, nor is it a modification.” Rebecca looked very satisfied with her research and its outcome.
“Are you sure this will become a normal human?” Zinan asked.
“I’m absolutely sure.” Rebecca winked, clearly impressed by her own hard work.
“I can’t wait,” Zinan said.
Cancri smiled in satisfaction. “Now you only need to wait, and trust that everything will be fine. We should leave. This is a sterile room and will always be carefully maintained by my people.”
Zinan nodded, and they left the place.
‘In the end, this is enough ... and I’m already very happy. Camilla, I will raise this child well, give them happiness and an incredibly promising life. I will make this child’s future so bright that I’ll be dazzled and blinded by my own pride.’
