“You need an appointment to see the boss.” The guards manning the gates said, one of them going to check the back of my car. My impatience mounted and I tapped on the steering wheel with my fingers.
“Move.”
He flinched, but recovered almost immediately. “Make me.” He scoffed. Seconds later, both of them were flung far away from the black security gates and I drove in. Qyle had texted me the exact address and I had no difficulty locating it.
Jayden Damion. The name struck me as familiar, but I couldn't place where. There were more guards manning different sections of the large mansion.
“Who are you?” One of them finally asked, as I walked towards the entrance.
“Get Jayden Damion down here this instant.” I ordered.
They cocked their guns, and rounded up on me. “Stop moving.” One of them commanded, his hand going to the earpiece hanging on his ears.
“We have an emergency.” He said, his eyes narrowing.
I had no time to waste, nor did I have an intention to waste my breath on them. With a speed that couldn't be comprehended by a human, I moved past them. They ran after me, shooting and yelling. I halted in my tracks, reversing the bullets back to them. When all was quiet again, I cleaned my hand carefully with a handkerchief I kept for the purpose.
I'd barely raised my head when dozens of bodyguards piled out of the mansion. Three ran to the front, and cocked their guns.
“Halt in your tracks,” one of them ordered, his gaze looking down at his colleagues.
A cold smile tugged at my lips. “Get Jayden Damion this instant.” I repeated my earlier words.
“I didn't believe I was so popular to the point where a serial killer would trace me to my home.” An arrogant voice said at that moment, and I waited to see who it belonged to. Jayden Damion. It finally struck me, where I knew him from. The fool at the cafè. The surprise on his face masked mine, as he came out from behind his bodyguards.
“We meet again.” I merely said, moving fast to grab him by the neck. His eyes dilated, and one of his men shot at me.
“We can have a decent conversation,” I said to him. “But if any of your men shoot again, all of you wouldn't see tomorrow.” I warned, adding pressure to my hold.
His face purpled, and he hit my hand in panic. He signaled at his men to stand down, and they backed away. Hesitantly, I let him down. “Good.” I looked around. I caught her scent. She was definitely here.
“Where is Mirah?” I asked him.
Surprise flashed across his eyes for a second, before he burst into laughter. “Are you fucking kidding me? Did you do all these for that slut?”
The words weren't completely out, when I kicked him to the ground. “Slut? You aren't even qualified to call her name with that filthy mouth of yours. How dare you?” I could feel the whites of my eyes receding.
I turned to his men, and made quick work of them. As Jayden glanced at his men writhing beside their guns, I finally saw what I'd been waiting for in his eyes.
Fear.
“W-what do you want?” He stuttered, and I snickered.
“Mirah.”
An order and stutter later, he ordered his men to bring Mirah out. I waited with bated breath as I looked at the entrance to the mansion. When she was led out by two men, my breath caught. All of a sudden, I could see nothing else. Just her.
She shrugged out of their hold, her face a cold mask. She barely spared me a glance as she stood close to Jayden who was now back on his feet.
“Mirah,” I stretched out my hand, miscalculating the distance between us. Emotions flickered in her eyes, which was good enough. I could work with the hate in her eyes. But nothing at all?
It'd kill me.
“Zeke.” She muttered.
Jayden was back to his cold arrogant self. “You've seen her. Can you go now?” He asked.
My eyes glinted. “I'm taking her with me.” I declared.
Mirah's head jerked up towards me and my throat flexed. I hadn't appreciated her taut nipple which pushed against her blue cashmere sweater when Jayden moved protectively before her.
“I've tolerated everything. But you can't take my fiancèe right in my presence.” He raised a hand towards me.
I walked towards them. “And who's going to stop me?” Unlike before, his men didn't make any move to stop me. Fear flashed across their faces, and their legs wobbled. Mirah moved away from behind him, and stood to the side. I halted right before them. He tried standing his ground.
“Stand down, now that I'm giving you a chance to.” He warned, a sharp contrast to his shaky voice.
“Did he touch you?” I ignored his bravado and turned to Mirah. She started, and dipped her gaze. The gesture squeezed my heart.
Lord, I missed this woman.
When she didn't respond, I grabbed Jayden's right hand. “Did he touch you?” I asked again. She nodded gently. The next moment, the echo of a cracked arm and Jayden's pained yell filled the air.
She still gave no reaction. I grabbed the other arm, and cracked it without hesitation. He fell to the floor, beads of sweat covering his forehead.
“Please-” He whimpered.
“I warned you the first time, Jayden Damion. This is my final warning to you.” I said with gritted teeth, my eyes a glowing dark red.
“Touch what's mine, and see how I'd make the rest of your life miserable.” I spat.
Left with no other choice, he nodded weakly. I grabbed Mirah and gently dragged her towards my car. Surprisingly, she didn't resist.
It wasn't until we were in the car, did she finally react.
“Drop me at Tristan Estate. I will give you the address.” She said quietly.
I swallowed the non-existent saliva, and faced her. “I'm taking us home, Mirah.”
She laughed without mirth. “My home-” She looked deeper into my eyes.
“My home was never with you. I never belonged with you, Prince Ezekiel.”
