Chapter 56 56: The Time Travel

“I can’t believe this,” I shook my head at the sight before me. “I’m sitting here drinking a milkshake with you,”
Ryder and I were at the cliff where we almost had our first kiss. In our hands were our favorite vanilla milkshake, and we were sitting atop Ryder’s bike.
“I can’t believe it either,” he said as he linked an arm around my waist. “My fiancée is actually here in the flesh with me,”
My breath hitched as I heard the word. Being called Ryder’s fiancée was something incredible. It was kind of chilly outside, but I felt all warm on the inside.
Ryder was gazing out into the night sea. The stars were twinkling above us and the moon was silver and bright. It was a glorious sight, but my eyes were glued to Ryder’s face, because compared to all that, I still thought that he looked better.
His eyes were deep piercing blue. His eyelashes were freakishly long. His jawline is as sharp as the rocks below us. And those lips were the softest and sexiest lips I had ever seen.
Looking at him like this brought me back to the summer of four years ago. It was my first time in Hawaii and Ryder took me here to watch the sunset. I had only met him for a couple of hours but I already felt more things with him than I had felt with anyone else my entire life.
“This brings back a lot of memories, huh?” he said suddenly.
“Yeah,” I nodded in agreement. “We've come so far since the time we sneaked around in the middle of the night,”
This place and our secret beach were our go-to locations for our midnight sneak-out. We would go out here when our parents were asleep and make out until the sunrise.
“I remembered that,” he laughed and nodded along. “And I remembered the stupid rules that you made us do,”
Ah, the short-lived no sex rule.
“Yeah, and then we had a stupid because of Vanessa,” I rolled my eyes at the memory.
“And I punched your friend at the wedding,” he sighed.
“That’s true,” I remembered that night. I was so angry at Ryder for unloading his jealousy out on Gabe.
“And then you ran away from me because I told you I love you,” he chuckled.
“But then I asked you to make love to me,”
“Damn right I did,” he smirked.
“And then it was like we were on a honeymoon of our own,”
“Yeah, we lived like kings,”
“And you got a tattoo of my name,”
“And then our parents came back early and we had to clean the entire house,”
“And then I ran again, I left you in that tent,”
“That fucking sucks,” he groaned. “But I came looking for you three years later,”
“And I fell back in love with you all over again,”
“It’s quite the story,” he said as he turned his head to me.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,”
“And it all started here. With this,” he lifted his cup of milkshake and I laughed.
Since meeting Ryder, I couldn’t look at a milkshake the same way again. I remembered sitting in his truck and being so annoyed by him because he kept teasing me for being a virgin. He then got me some milkshake because he knew I was upset. He claimed it was the best milkshake in the world. And it was.
“Do you know when it started for me?” I asked him as I tilted my head to the side.
“When?”
“It started right outside the house when I first met you and you smiled,” I said as I cupped his face with my hands. “You were smiling just like this,”
The smile on Ryder’s face grew wider. I really loved his smile. It was boyish and sexy, with a hint of danger and mystery.
His hand reached up to my face and he leaned his forehead against mine. Still smiling that wild smile, he whispered, “I love you, K,”
“I love you, Ry—”
Before I could even finish, Ryder had crashed his lips onto mine, shutting me up. There were so many feelings that came over me with this kiss. My heart was overflowing with joy and my stomach was twisting into knots.
My whole body was quivering as Ryder wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. Letting out a low growl, his lips claimed mine passionately and possessively. I responded by arching my back and molding my body into his form, completely drowning in the wave of pleasure that was Ryder.
When our tongues met and tangled with each other, I completely lost my mind. My hands dug into his hair and low moans escaped my lips. I had been waiting to inhale his scent and to taste him like this for a month now. No, more than that. I had been waiting for this for years.
Because this was a kiss four years overdue.

It was the surprise of a lifetime. The best birthday present ever.
Kara and I spent the entire Thanksgiving weekend together exploring the island and reminiscing about the good old days. It was the best weekend I had in a long ass time. We’d go to the beach in the morning, make out, then we’d have lunch at the diner, make out, then we’d go catch a movie at the drive-in theater, and yeah, we make out a lot. Get used to it.
We didn’t do a lot of it around the house though. It felt kinda weird making out with my ex-stepsister in front of my father. It was totally legal and all, it just felt weird. It was like when I was making out with her in front of her mom. Lacey was alright when Kara told her about my proposal, she didn’t die of a heart attack or get a stroke or anything like that. But when she saw us making out, she would make this awkward noise coughing sound, and I would pull away out of politeness. I got where she was coming from now. It must be hella awkward watching her daughter kiss her ex-stepson.
Anyway, Sunday morning was my favorite time of the day. We woke up late and we just lazed around the house. My dad went out to meet some friends, so we got the house all to ourselves.
When I got up that morning, Kara was still asleep, lying naked on my bed. It was the most gorgeous sight I’d ever seen, and no, it wasn’t just my massive boner talking. I found myself staring at her like a creep while my fingers ran gently across the curves of her skin. I made sure that I was being careful and I wouldn’t wake her up. I was probably doing it for like ten minutes before she stirred in her sleep and woke up.
“Good morning, baby girl,” I said as her eyes fluttered open.
“Mmhm,” she smiled lazily when she saw my face right in front of hers. I took it she liked what she saw. “Good morning, Ry,”
Damn, even her voice is smooth like silk.
I reached for her body and pulled her closer to me. Her back was pressed against my chest and my arms were wrapped around her stomach. Kara let out a soft sigh as she rested her head on the crook of my neck.
For the longest time, we just lay there listening to each other’s breathing. The sunlight was streaming through the window and it was hitting her skin at the best possible angle. She was literally glowing in gold. And I had the privilege to witness this beauty and hold her in my hands.
I took a deep breath and buried my face into her neck, inhaling her scent. She let out a moan as my lips connected with her skin. Her body started squirming in the sheets, but her ass was pressed against my shaft and the friction only made me harder. And just like that, I made love to my fiancée that morning.
I can't wait to do this for the rest of my life.
Later that afternoon, Kara insisted that she wanted to cook something for me. Wearing nothing but my t-shirt and an apron, she stood in the kitchen and attempted to make spam fried rice. It was high-key really cute, watching her work the frying pan as she watched a tutorial on YouTube. I could just picture it, years from now, she’d be making the same lunch for our kids.
That got me smiling from ear to ear.
But when Sunday night came along, it was the worst. Kara was taking the red-eye flight back to New York City, so I was driving her to the airport right after dinner. This was an agonizing task. I’d rather be punched in the nut than to see her leave my sight.
Kara wasn't too happy about leaving either. She kept holding onto my hand, refusing to let me go even when I was moving the bags from the trunk.
“I’m gonna miss you so much,” she sighed as we reached the departure gate. This was as far as I could go without a boarding pass.
She looked up at me with a sad smile on her face, and my chest felt tight and hollow.
“Do you really have to go?” I said as I palmed her face in my hand. “Can I just kidnap you and lock you up in my room?”
She stifled a laugh and shoved my arm, “Ryder, we’ll see each other in six months,”
“The next time we see each other, we’re gonna be married,” I reminded her.
“That sounds kinda crazy, isn’t it?” she grinned.
“I can’t wait to be married to you,”
“I can’t wait to be married to you too,”
“You’re gonna be stuck with me forever,”
“Oh, the horror,” she rolled her eyes playfully.
That got me to laugh. I remembered she said the same thing when we were dropping our parents at the airport and I told her she was stuck with me.
Letting out a sigh, I pressed our foreheads together and said, “Six more months, baby,”
She nodded meekly and said, “And then it’s forever?”
I nodded in response.
“And then it’s forever,”
