Chapter 211 My Damian Cannot Be Kissing My Sister
Chapter 211 My Damian Cannot Be Kissing My Sister
Airinia's POV
The crowd around her parts slightly, and I see her fully. My brain can't process what I'm seeing. My awkward, half-blood sister—the one I haven't seen in years—stands in the center of MY welcome party, looking... looking...beautiful?
I rush forward, pushing past several pack members who dare stand between me and my sister. "Lya!" I throw my arms around her, squeezing tight. This is unexpected but wonderful! Having my sister here for my reunion with Damian makes this night even more special. She feels different in my arms—toned and confident, not the awkward girl I remember.
When I pull back, I'm struck again by her appearance. The transformation is shocking. Gone is the hunched posture, the acne-covered face, those ridiculous glasses, and the aura of perpetual shame. In their place stands a poised, clear-skinned woman with an almost regal bearing.
"Oh my god, Lya! I hardly believe it's you!" I examine her face, searching for the familiar awkward features. "What happened to my pimple-faced little sister with those hideous glasses?"
Her expression remains neutral, almost cold. She doesn't return my embrace with equal enthusiasm, which irritates me slightly. I've come all this way, survived being "dead," and she can't even properly greet her big sister?
"Hello, Airina," she says, her tone as frigid as her eyes. "I came with Damian."
"I'm so happy to see you!!!" I gush, bouncing slightly on my toes. "I can't believe Damian brought you as a surprise for me! He's so wonderful!"
"Yes, I agree." Lya agrees, her expression shifting in a way I can't quite read.
As she turns slightly, I notice something on her neck—a mating mark. My eyes widen. I never imagined my mixed-blood sister would find a mate so quickly. "You've been marked!" I exclaim, leaning closer to examine it. "So you've been with your mate all this time?"
Her expression turns strange, almost amused. "Yes, I have been with my mate."
I feel a rush of excitement. My awkward half-blood sister has found someone who accepts her!
"Oh..." I glance around the crowded hall. "Where is he? I can't wait to meet him. We should plan a double date soon!!! Is he a gamma or beta from another pack?"
Lya's lips curve into what might almost be a smile, but her eyes remain cold. "There won't be any double dates, Airina."
I feel a flicker of confusion. Is she still holding grudges after all this time? "You're not still upset about..." I begin carefully, not wanting to create a scene at my own party.
"Your Luna training?" she finishes for me. "The torture you inflicted on me?"
"That's all in the past, dear sister," Lya continues, her voice softening but still distant. "I have more important things to worry about now."
I study her again, amazed at how much she's changed. She's actually beautiful now, though not as beautiful as me, of course. There's something different about her—a friendly yet distant quality that's unsettling. If she didn't already have a mate mark, I might worry she'd try to steal Damian from me. Perhaps someday we can repair our relationship.
"So where is your mate?" I ask, looking around again. "I don't see anyone hovering protectively nearby."
For the first time, Lya's voice carries genuine emotion, vulnerability, even. "He was supposed to meet me here. I'm not sure where he is. I'm starting to get a little worried."
I pat her arm reassuringly. "I'm sure he'll be here soon. If he's your mate, he's probably as drawn to you as you are to him."
A commotion near the entrance of the hall catches my attention. The crowd shifts, whispers rippling through the gathering. The sea of people parts, and my breath catches in my throat.
Damian.
He looks devastatingly handsome in his formal wear, his confident stride and powerful presence making my heart race and my body heat. The Greek gods would pale in comparison to this version of Damian. If I'd known he would grow to look like this, I would never have left. His shoulders have broadened, his jawline sharpened, his eyes more intense. He exudes power and sexuality in a way that makes my mouth go dry.
My previous thoughts about a threesome with Jack vanish like morning mist. I'll forgive Sophia for sleeping with Damian. I'll forgive anyone anything just to have this man in my bed tonight.
I don't smell any unusual scents on him, but the room is crowded with hundreds of wolves. The important thing is the love I see in his eyes as he walks directly toward us.
I open my arms, my body already humming with anticipation, ready to embrace my mate. At last, the moment I've dreamed of for so long!
But Damian walks past me.
Without even glancing in my direction, he moves straight to Lya, cups her face in his hands, and kisses her deeply.
I stand frozen, my arms still half-raised, my mouth dropping open. This... this can't be happening.
"Uh, what?!?!" I blurt out, my voice embarrassingly high-pitched. "Damian, my Damian, cannot be kissing my sister."
He continues kissing her, completely ignoring me. I raise my voice, desperate to break whatever spell has taken hold of him.
"Damian? Hello? Damian?! DAMIAN!!! I'm right here. That's Lya, not me." I wave my hands frantically. Has he forgotten what I look like after two years? "It's me, Airina! Your mate!"
He doesn't even acknowledge me. Not a glance, not a twitch. Nothing. I look around wildly for Lya's mate, wondering why he isn't stopping this outrage. Is no one else seeing this?
Finally, Damian breaks the kiss, but his hands remain on Lya's face. His eyes never leave hers, full of an adoration I've never seen before.
"You're late," Lya murmurs, her eyes locked with his.
"Yes, I'm sorry, dear," Damian replies, his voice tender in a way I've never heard before. "I had to track down something."
He reaches into his suit jacket and pulls out a framed baseball photo. I recognize it as one of the items I'd thrown away when cleaning his room.
"I wanted to find this before the party," he explains to Lya. "It took some effort tracking it down from the Omegas who rescued it from the trash."
Lya's face softens as she looks at the photo. "You kept that old thing?"
"No, this is the one you gave me," Damian corrects her gently. "This is the one that told me there was still hope for us. It meant the world to me."
Lya smiles, "You've gotten a bit sentimental, you know that?"
Damian gazes at her with such naked adoration that my stomach twists painfully. "Only when it comes to you, dear."
