chapter 82 Delilah's Death
Genesis's POV:
After hanging up the phone, Delilah still wasn't satisfied and slapped me hard twice.
The pain on my face felt like needle pricks, sharply stimulating my nerves one after another.
But this pain was nothing compared to the agony throughout my body.
The whip soaked in chili water tore at my skin. Every inch felt like it was being ripped open and pulled apart. The pain reached its peak.
Several times, I passed out from the pain only to be jolted awake by more agony.
Why wasn't this endless torture over yet? I couldn't see an end to it anymore.
Click, click. Delilah excitedly took several photos of me, extremely satisfied.
"After you die, I'll send these photos to Eli so he'll remember you looking this disgusting." Delilah smiled smugly. "It's been two hours already? Eli really didn't come."
Delilah's sharp nails pierced my wounds again. I hung numbly in midair, enduring her torture.
"You don't really expect Eli to come save you, do you?" Delilah played with her phone, sneering. "Is your worthless life worth 10 billion dollars?"
I quietly glanced toward the main gate, then quickly looked away and lowered my eyes.
Actually, I knew. I knew Eli definitely wouldn't come.
Even if his feelings for me weren't just novelty, even if he liked me a little, could that little bit of affection outweigh years of effort and the temptation of Don Martinez's position?
Impossible.
Like Delilah said, how could my life be worth 10 billion dollars?
Besides, he had to consider loyal made men like Walker and Inigo.
So why would he use his entire fortune to trade for me?
Delilah forced me to meet her gaze, mocking me. "Eli is just playing with you. Women like you with no parents are easy to catch with a few favors. Playing around doesn't matter. No one truly cares about you."
Delilah probably thought her words would make me sad, but they didn't.
Eli had already saved me many times. He had no obligation to appear and help me every time.
Besides, I wasn't a good person. I reported his arms shipments to the FBI and sent Jordan a video that would hurt him. Although Jordan hadn't received it yet, when he did, Eli would probably suffer greatly.
So he shouldn't come save me, and I didn't want him to save me.
Because I didn't want to owe him too much anymore.
Delilah didn't see me break down crying as she expected. Her face immediately twisted with rage.
She grabbed my hair tightly, forcing me to look up at her.
"You bitch! I'll take you to the high seas and cut you up piece by piece to feed the fish!" Delilah gestured to her subordinates behind her. They immediately stepped forward, untied me, and dragged me outside like a dead dog.
Their movements were extremely rough. The pain made my consciousness blur. I could only bite my lip hard to stay awake.
Bang!
The farm gate was kicked open. Delilah screamed in fright.
A figure stood silhouetted against the light at the entrance. I struggled to lift my head as suppressed emotions immediately surged up.
Could it be Eli?
The person walked in. Delilah's expression changed from alertness to happiness.
It was actually Jacob.
Endless disappointment flooded my heart. I mocked myself internally. Hadn't I already figured it out? Why was I still hoping for something impossible?
Wake up, Genesis.
Jacob immediately assessed the situation in the farm and stepped forward to slap Delilah hard without hesitation.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the farm. Delilah looked at Jacob in shock.
"Are you crazy? Why did you hit me!"
Jacob's face no longer showed his former indulgence toward Delilah, but was full of anger.
He grabbed Delilah's wrist and questioned loudly. "What are you doing, you idiot! Don't you know that since Dad died, our entire family depends on the Martinez family for survival! What stupid thing are you doing now!"
He was furious. The force in his hands made Delilah cry out in pain.
"Let go! You're hurting me!"
Jacob pushed hard, and Delilah staggered back several steps.
She was dismissive. "I just don't accept it! Why doesn't Eli like me but likes this dirty bastard! She's just an adopted daughter. The Martinez family doesn't care about her at all!"
Jacob slapped her again without hesitation. "Don't care?! Do you know the Martinez family has already publicly announced her kidnapping? They've put out word that they will definitely find Genesis!"
Hearing Jacob's words, not only Delilah but even I found it unbelievable.
Last time when Lennon took me away and abused me, the Martinez family didn't hesitate to cover up the news. How could they suddenly value me this time?
Could it be Eli? Complex emotions surged in my heart.
"Impossible!" Delilah screamed. "The Martinez family doesn't value her!"
Jacob didn't want to argue with her anymore. He said coldly, "They're using all their resources to find Genesis. Once they discover you did this, our entire Nelson family will pay for your stupidity!"
Delilah still insisted, raising her neck and shouting loudly. "I'm not wrong! If it weren't for this bitch, how could Eli give up our engagement! I did nothing wrong!"
"Is there only Eli in that stupid brain of yours? Don't you think about your brother? Don't you think about the family's made men? Are you trying to get us all killed?"
"What do you all have to do with me? I just want to kill this bitch Genesis!" Delilah yelled like a madwoman.
I saw Jacob grit his teeth and take a deep breath. Then he pulled out a gun from his jacket and shot Delilah.
Delilah's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Jacob and fell down.
Jacob actually killed Delilah!
I never expected him to do this!
Although I hadn't seen Jacob many times, I knew how much he used to dote on his sister Delilah!
But now, he killed her without hesitation!
Looking at Delilah lying in a pool of blood, my feelings were extremely complicated.
Even Jacob, her own brother, could abandon Delilah so easily. It was perfectly normal for Eli to be unwilling to give up his entire fortune to save me.
Looking at Jacob's cold expression, a glimmer of hope rose in my heart.
Since he killed Delilah, would he let me go?
But Jacob slowly walked up to me and stared at me grimly for a while.
"My sister is dead. You should die with her."
I weakly shook my head, looking at Jacob pleadingly.
But Jacob remained unmoved and grabbed my arm. "I can't let you live to tell Don Martinez. In this world, only the dead can keep secrets."
He looked at his subordinates. "Take her to the high seas and throw her overboard! Clean up all traces in the farm!"
