Chapter 74 Idiot
Genesis's POV:
I walked back down the hallway and unexpectedly ran into Forth at the corner.
He was limping, like he'd twisted his ankle. I froze on the spot.
This was our first meeting since that day Eli had angrily driven him away from the Martinez family villa.
I recalled that humiliating memory. It felt like all my shame had been brutally torn open and exposed in front of him.
I pressed my lips together and tried to avoid his gaze as I walked around him.
But Forth suddenly reached out and grabbed my wrist, pulling me all the way to the stairwell.
I panicked and pulled my hand back, instinctively looking around.
If Eli caught me having contact with him, he would really kill Forth.
Forth's eyes immediately turned red.
He stared at me intently. "You want to pretend you don't know me?"
I silently gestured to him: \[I'm sorry.\]
Seeing my gesture, Forth suddenly became agitated.
He looked directly into my eyes. "I've figured it out these past days. Eli forced you, didn't he? I've been accepted to Novien University of Technology. I can take you away!"
He reached for my wrist again, but I dodged once more.
Forth looked at me in confusion, not understanding what I meant.
I met his gaze and slowly shook my head.
Forth was no match for Eli. If he really dared to take me away, Eli would never let him go!
If Eli wanted to kill him, it would be as simple as moving a finger!
Forth had finally gotten out of this mess. I didn't want him getting involved between Eli and me again.
Looking at Forth's anxious expression, I sighed silently.
\[Why did you choose Novien University of Technology?\] I borrowed his phone and typed this line on the screen.
Forth's face immediately changed. He tried to explain. "I just wanted to be closer to you, in case there might still be a chance..."
I thought Forth had already moved on, but I never expected he would follow me abroad.
I couldn't agree to this, and I didn't want to give him any more hope.
\[I've already declined Novien University of Technology's offer. Sorry.\] I shoved Forth's phone back into his hands and turned to leave.
"Just because you fell in love with your own uncle?" Forth glared at me angrily and shouted. "Why are you so shameless! This is incest!"
I felt like I'd been struck by lightning, frozen in place.
I'd imagined countless times what would happen when someone discovered my relationship with Eli, how they would despise and scold me.
But when that day really came, I realized I still couldn't bear it.
Especially when the person scolding me was one of my few friends.
I opened my mouth, wanting to explain, but in the end I swallowed both my words and tears.
From the beginning until now, no one had given me a choice.
Eli was like this. He liked me, so I had to stay by his side as his beloved canary.
Forth was the same. He liked me, so he wanted to follow me to university abroad.
None of them had ever asked for my wishes or cared about my thoughts.
It was as if I was just a pretty object that could be taken home if they liked it.
But why should that be?
I was also a complete person. I had the right to make my own choices, whether I liked something or not.
Forth rushed in front of me, looking at me with infinite disappointment. "That man is your uncle! How could you get involved with him! I always thought you were a pure, quiet girl. I never imagined you could be so shameless!"
Countless complex emotions surged in my heart.
I felt ashamed, painful, and unable to defend myself.
I bit my lower lip hard, not letting myself appear too pathetic.
"Is it because he saved you from Lennon last time that you fell in love with him? Or that day when you were drugged, did you two already do things you shouldn't have!" Forth grabbed my arm forcefully, his eyes red as he questioned me.
His eyes were full of disgust and mockery. I felt stung and stepped back two paces.
His gaze was like a slap across my face.
"What are you doing here?" Just then, Walker pushed Eli in his wheelchair and kicked open the stairwell door. Both Forth and I were startled.
Forth glared at Eli with red eyes. Eli stared back coldly.
The atmosphere between them was tense, ready to explode.
If they really started fighting, how could Forth be Eli's match?
He would be beaten to death! Even though Eli was injured now, he was still the Martinez family's most outstanding member!
Forth stared at Eli with hatred. "You beast in human clothing! How could you lay hands on Genesis? She's your niece!"
"None of your damn business!" Eli furiously drew his gun and aimed it at Forth. "I told you, if you appeared in front of her again, I'd put a bullet in you."
I couldn't care about saving anyone anymore. I quickly hugged Eli's arm, signaling him not to be impulsive.
No matter how much Forth hated me now, the fact remained that he had helped me many times. I couldn't let Eli actually kill him!
Eli glared at me coldly. "What? I'm going to kill your lover and you're worried?"
Of course not! I just didn't want the situation to become more chaotic!
I pressed my lips together and pushed Eli toward the exit.
Eli finally softened, gave Forth one last vicious look, and left the stairwell with me.
Delilah's POV:
Eli left with Genesis. He was so good to Genesis!
But he acted so cold toward me!
He even had Walker throw me out of his hospital room!
Twenty minutes ago, I accidentally overheard Jacob mentioning that Eli had been assassinated and injured, so I immediately rushed to the hospital.
I loved Eli. Even though he killed my father, Dad had betrayed him first.
But I never dreamed that when I found Eli, he would mercilessly drive me away!
"Eli, I'm willing to get back together with you! Only I truly care about you!" I cried and clung to the door frame, refusing to leave.
Why wouldn't he be with me when he clearly still loved me?
Eli impatiently had Walker throw me out!
So many doctors and nurses saw it! I was completely humiliated!
I walked out with a dark expression. I accidentally overheard a conversation between some of Eli's men and learned that Eli had been camping with Genesis the day he got injured.
Eli had never even taken me camping!
I was so angry I could barely contain myself. I rushed upstairs like a madwoman, wishing I could kill Genesis right now!
Unexpectedly, as soon as I entered the stairwell, I accidentally witnessed Genesis and Forth arguing!
What a perfect opportunity!
That poor Forth was crouched on the ground, heartbroken.
Another fool seduced by Genesis!
But perfect for me to use!
I adjusted my expression and walked over with a smile to greet her.
