Ruby’s POV

‘’Shit!’’ I gasped as my body shuddered in deep, heavy pleasure. My hips bucked in response to the wet movement of his tongue on my breast as he devoured me hungrily. He was moving like a man who had  been starved as his tongue dancing from one breast to the other while his hands moved behind my back to massage the skin there.

The room got silent except for our panting, and in that moment of quiet, the words just spilled out of me. ‘’I love you..’’ I suddenly blurted out to him, staring up at him with a starry gaze. I've always found it hard to verbalize my feelings for him, even after I figured out a long while back that I was actually in love with him. My heart suddenly sped up as Thane didn't say anything. Seconds kept passing by with him just staring at me with his face unreadable and saying absolutely nothing.

The silence was as loud as anything ‘’What? You're not going to say anything?’’ I said, my voice coming out a little small. I could already feel that sinking feeling in my chest, like I was getting way too ahead of myself and had just made things awkward. I was halfway through pulling my hands away from his neck, feeling the sting of rejection already starting to burn in my throat.

‘’No, no, no, not that… it's just… I thought you would never say those words to me again…’’ Thane hurriedly spoke up, his eyes searching mine to clear the doubt in my mind before it could take root. 

‘’Why would you think that?’’ I blurted out, genuinely curious. My hands flew to his cheeks to raise his head up so he had no choice but to look me right in the eye. I needed to know what was going on in that head of his. 

‘’Well..’’ He cleared his throat, his gaze flickering away for a split second before returning to mine. ‘’When I had held you in my arms as you… died back then as Auxoria, you said you hated me. You told me you would never love a monster like me…’’ Thane slowly said, and a deep furrow came to stick on my forehead.

Those didn't sound like words that Auxoria would speak. I mean, I had met her in the spirit realm, and she had seemed very much in love with Thane even after all this time. 

‘’How did she die?’’ I decided to ask. I know I had seen a short glimpse of the past before, and it had looked like Thane was the one to kill her, but something told me that there was a lot more to that story than that. Thane couldn't have possibly killed a woman who he was willing to wait centuries for just to see her reincarnate. 

‘’Tautia had taken my appearance and managed to get close to her… we weren't exactly on talking terms then because of the war… actually because…’’ Thane’s words were cut short as there was an insistent, loud knock on the door from the other side. It was followed immediately by Lucas’s slightly urgent voice, breaking the heavy silence of the bedroom.
