Chapter 110 Bacco's Wine II

Chapter 110 Bacco's Wine II
HER

“Don't be jealous, female. I bear your mark, remember?” Eli growled lightly. “The marked wolves will escort you and the human Luna so there are no accidents. The unmated males are stationed at the perimeter, far enough so they won't be triggered by her scent.”
The djinn woman grabbed my hand. Your crimson-painted lips curled into a smile, and those tiny sparks flared in her eyes again.
“Come, Luna. It is time to meet your destiny.”
I wanted to say no, but my body wouldn't obey. It was completely compliant. I followed her out of the room. The cool night breeze hit my bare skin through the sheer fabric, and it felt amazing.
I was burning up.
A total, infernal heat wave.
“I'm thirsty.”
“Of course, Luna. Sit here on this stone, and I will fetch you more wine.”
I sat down on a massive, cold boulder. It looked just like the sacred altar stone back at my wolf’s pack house.
Who copied whose rock?
Ha!
Alphas are supposed to be bitter enemies, but they are so alike. Even down to their fancy rocks. Both of them big, handsome Alphas.
Down there... my little friend was acting weird. It was getting way too hot.
“Here, Luna. Drink up.”
I downed the mug in one go, coughing as the liquid burned my throat. This wasn't the sweet juice from before. This wine was much, much stronger.
“Hey, Hira. You are a djinn woman, right?” I asked, my words slurring together. I had to repeat myself before she finally understood.
“A djinn? No, little human. I am no djinn. If I were, I would have told you.” She laughed, her face taking on a sharp, almost demonic beauty. “Now that you’ve drunk my special vintage, human Luna, you won't remember a thing. This is far more potent than that old fool's potion.”
“Oh... so you make wine too?” At that moment, it felt like a deeply intellectual question to ask.
“Only the special kinds. The ones that serve my purposes.”
“Hmm... I think my ovaries are on fire.”
“That is the rapid ovulation triggered by the hormones in the wine I gave you. Now, it is guaranteed that you will conceive during the ceremony. Your human body will bless our pack with fertility.”
“Ovaries? Eggs... little eggs... You're a scorpion. I don't like you, djinn!”
“I don't like you either. But you will be highly useful to me tonight. So, I will be generous and give you a piece of advice: relax and enjoy it, because your little human heat is about to take all three shifts of the Alpha.”
She cackled like a wicked witch. That... that... backstabbing snake!
No, wait. The snake is the other one.
That fake, psycho wolf-whore who sleeps with her own brother. Gross!
She is never going to be the Luna. I am the Luna.
“I am going to slap the taste out of her mouth!” I muttered.
“Whose mouth?” the djinn asked, raising a perfectly sculpted eyebrow.
“Estela! That psycho, knocked-up-by-her-own-brother bitch! Do you know her? You both have venom, so you must be friends! Sometimes, I just want to rip her throat out. Do you think that makes me evil?”
I asked her earnestly. She had to know, right? If I was evil... she was a djinn, she knew about dark stuff.
“Ah, yes. I know her. A reckless idiot who ruins her own plans because she lacks patience.” Hira smiled darkly. “I certainly hope you don't forget your desire to kill her, human Luna. Splitting her throat open would make you a very fine Luna indeed—and highly useful to my agenda. Estela will look much better with her pretty little mouth shut forever.”

Lord Agar hurried forward in his human form, feeling far too old to shift into his wolf.
He was a Delta—a rank rarely celebrated for raw power, but Agar was different. He was deeply attuned to ancient herbs and dark magic. Years ago, he had lived in a small, isolated cabin deep within a rival pack’s forest. When his true mate—a shallow Beta female who deemed him inferior simply because he was a Delta—cruelly rejected their bond, Agar chose exile. With the help of Dófona, a fellow practitioner of the mystic arts and an apprentice to the same sorcerer, he found a new home with the Black Wolf Pack.
Through decades of grueling effort and absolute loyalty to the pack's previous rulers, they began addressing him as Lord. It was a title he utterly despised. He was a proud Delta, a loyal servant of the Moon Goddess, and a keeper of the earth’s secrets.
He had watched the rise and fall of the previous Alpha—a ruthless mercenary who would have gladly sold his own kind into slavery if the price was right.
Agar’s sharp, trained eyes missed nothing. His intuition was terrifyingly acute; he studied the souls of men and saw things others couldn't.
When Derik was born, Agar knew.
The pup had come into the world with pale, nearly translucent eyes, harboring an aura dangerously similar to the cursed child of the New Moon Pack. Agar didn't possess the raw prophecies that Dófona did, but he felt things. He felt that the destinies of Ares and Derik were inherently entangled. He also knew they would endure identical agonies. Those chosen by Hecate were always blessed, and the blessed carried the heaviest, most agonizing burdens.
In his youth, Agar struggled to understand his internal visions. Once he finally learned to decipher them, hiding them became his greatest challenge—haunted by the fear of vanity, the sheer terror of being wrong, and the consequences of tampering with fate. But time was an excellent teacher.
Now, old and weary, Agar found amusement in noticing the hidden threads connecting people. Whenever he could, he gave a subtle, invisible nudge to the wolves who occupied a place in his heart.
