Chapter 83 Both Stupid and Clumsy

Chapter 83 Both Stupid and Clumsy

"I really didn't expect you'd actually be here."

Hearing the familiar voice, Sophia turned to look at the entrance.

Lyric stood there with heavy makeup, accompanied by two friends.

Their clothes were flashy, and you could tell at a glance they were wealthy.

The three of them looked hostile. Zander slowly moved to Sophia's side and said quietly.

"Ms. Brown, should I kick these three out? I feel like they're up to no good."

Hearing his serious tone, Sophia laughed.

"Zander, I never realized you were so funny before. It's fine, it's fine. You go do your thing. I can handle these three."

Seeing Sophia's relaxed expression, Zander still felt uneasy. Only when Isla walked over to her side did he feel reassured.

"Alright then, I'll go take care of my stuff."

After speaking, he turned and walked inside.

Lyric swaggered in from the entrance, casually picked up a jade bracelet, and examined it critically, turning it over and over.

"This thing doesn't look genuine. I've seen jade bracelets way more translucent than this."

Her picky comments didn't provoke Sophia's anger. In fact, she didn't take her words to heart at all.

"If you don't like it, just go to another store. Turn left when you leave. I won't see you out."

"You!"

Lyric was about to lose her temper when her friend stopped her.

"We came here today to cause trouble. Don't let her words make you leave."

Hearing this, Lyric tried to calm herself down. She took three deep breaths before holding it in.

"I won't fall for your trick. I'm going to stay here and buy something, right here!"

Sophia didn't care at all. A smile appeared at the corner of her lips, and she stopped paying attention.

She turned and sat down in a chair to eat fruit, chatting and laughing with Isla, completely ignoring her.

Being ignored again, Lyric couldn't stand this treatment. She grabbed the jade bracelet and smashed it on the ground.

The jade bracelet shattered into pieces on the floor with a clear clinking sound.

The sudden incident attracted everyone's attention.

"I'm so sorry, I accidentally broke your item. Why don't you tell me how much it costs? I'll pay you back."

Lyric said smugly, without any sign of apology on her face.

Seeing her looking so pleased with herself, Sophia found it ridiculous.

This woman must not have a brain.

"If something's broken, you should pay for it. I just don't know if you have enough money to afford it."

"What do you mean? How much could this crappy bracelet cost? Don't tell me it's worth hundreds of millions of dollars!"

Lyric rolled her eyes at her.

Sophia spread her hands and shrugged, speaking in a relaxed tone.

"Not hundreds of millions, but it is fifty million dollars. Will you pay by card or transfer?"

Hearing the amount, everyone gasped, their eyes wide as saucers.

Even Lyric stared in disbelief, pointing at Sophia.

"Fifty million dollars? What nonsense are you talking about! How could this thing be that expensive? Doesn't the price tag say fifty thousand dollars!"

She exclaimed, turning to look for the price tag.

"Miss, I think you're mistaken. Our tag has always said fifty million."

Sophia smiled and gestured for her to look at the glass counter behind her.

A tag was sitting right there. Lyric quickly grabbed it and looked at the numbers.

"Fifty million dollars... How is this possible..."

She looked at it over and over, and it still said fifty million dollars, no more, no less.

Seeing the numbers, Lyric felt her scalp tingle. If she had known this thing was so expensive, she would have found something cheaper to break!

She came here to annoy Sophia and make her miserable, but she never thought she'd get herself into trouble.

Now saddled with this debt, she didn't know what punishment awaited her when she got back.

"Excuse me, miss, how would you like to pay?"

Sophia asked again with a smile. Lyric stood there like a wooden pole, not saying a word.

She turned to look at her two friends.

"Hey, this was your idea. Now that things are like this, you'd better give me some money to settle this."

Hearing this, the two quickly looked away, not daring to look Lyric in the eye, afraid she'd grab onto them.

"Are you two mute? Say something!"

"I, we just came with you to browse the jade store, we had no other intentions. You dropped it yourself, you can't blame us..."

"Right, this wasn't caused by us. You'd better figure out how to pay..."

The two avoided eye contact with her, not daring to meet her gaze. If Lyric hadn't been holding onto them, they would have run away already.

Watching the three of them shift the blame among themselves, Sophia found it laughable.

To come up with such a stupid idea, and for Lyric to actually be dumb enough to do it.

"Can you give me some time? I can't come up with that much money right now. How about I pay on credit..."

"What? Looking at how you're dressed, you seem pretty wealthy. We run a small business here. If I let you pay on credit, you might walk out and pretend you don't know me. Where would I find you? Either call your family to come over now, or I'll call the police."

Call the police?

Once the police were called, this would blow up. Before long, everyone in the Mitchell family would know about her stupid mistake.

If she wanted to have any connection with the Mitchell family in the future, they'd probably avoid her.

"No! I'll pay, but I really don't have that much money right now!"

Lyric was jumping with anxiety. With so many eyes watching, she couldn't throw a tantrum, and she didn't dare confront Sophia directly.

"Just tell me what you want."

It seemed there really was no way out.

Sophia chuckled, "Pay the money, of course. My cameras are crystal clear. The evidence is all there, so you can't weasel out of it."

She pointed at the camera above, and there was another one right next to Lyric.

It had captured her actions clearly. Lyric's face looked terrible, unable to speak for a long time.

"So pay up now."

Sophia smiled and pushed the POS machine in front of her, but she still didn't move.

"This girl is wearing designer brands too, but it looks like she can't afford the compensation."

"Fifty million dollars! Who could pay that much all at once? I think this woman is in trouble today."

"She'll probably have to call the police."

All the voices around fell on Lyric's ears, and her face looked awful.

"I'll pay her compensation."

A voice came from the entrance, and everyone's eyes turned toward it.

Philip? What's he doing here!
