Chapter 80 You Will Die If You Eat This Thing

Philip's brow furrowed as he stared into her eyes, unable to read them.

His deep gaze tried to see into Sophia's soul, but it was like looking through a veil— nothing seemed real.

His large hand reached up and gripped Sophia's neck, gradually tightening.

Mia anxiously moved to stop him, but her wrist was caught and held back by Isla.

The latter gave her a look that said "don't go over there," leaving Mia completely confused about what was going on.

"Philip, what's wrong?"

Sophia felt the pressure on her neck, her very breathing now in his control.

Philip's thin lips pressed tight, the anger in his eyes completely unconcealed.

Sophia frowned pitifully, her face beginning to turn pale.

Seeing her like this, Philip paused, his gaze sweeping over her abdomen before releasing his hand.

"Remember what I said," Philip said coldly.

"Philip, I think you've misunderstood. I'll handle my own problems myself."

Her gaze was firm, showing no hint of deception.

The two locked eyes, neither able to guess what the other was thinking.

After staring at her for a moment, Philip turned around, his warning words coming out again.

"If I find out you're using the Mitchell family to help you, I'll make sure you know the consequences."

With those words, Philip left the villa without looking back. Outside, a car engine roared to life, the sound growing fainter as it drove away.

"Mrs. Mitchell, are you okay!"

Mia rushed over, carefully checking Sophia's body, afraid something might be wrong.

Sophia shook her head and said softly, "I'm fine, don't worry. Let's go back."

She smiled at the two of them, the corners of her lips turning up.

Mia wanted to say more, but Isla pulled her back and led her away from the living room.

The spacious living room was left with only Sophia, the surrounding silence wrapping around her like a cocoon.

She let out a self-mocking, bitter laugh and headed toward the bedroom.

No matter what lay ahead, even if the path was full of thorns, she would step forward one step at a time.

The next day, Sophia arrived at Jade Haven. Zander was rushing out in a panic and ran right into her.

"What's wrong, Zander? Why are you in such a hurry? Did something happen?"

"Ms. Brown! I was just about to contact you. There's this strange person here saying they want to place an order with Jade Haven, but they insist on dealing only with you."

Hearing this, Sophia looked up and followed his gaze, seeing the back of a long-haired woman.

"Okay, I got it. Zander, you go handle other things. I'll take care of this."

"Okay, Ms. Brown."

Sophia walked over, her eyes scanning the person, and asked, "Hello, are you interested in placing an order with Jade Haven?"

The person turned around at the sound of her voice, revealing a pair of stunning emerald green eyes.

"Hello, are you Ms. Brown?"

"Yes, please sit down and let's talk."

Sophia's gaze followed her. She had no memory of ever meeting someone like this before.

"My name is Nola Skye. I saw news about Jade Haven online, so I wanted to come see it in person and check it out."

Her tone was casual, revealing no flaws, but the more natural it seemed, the more uneasy Sophia felt.

Foreign brands were popping up everywhere like bamboo shoots after rain—there was no shortage of jewelry merchants. Why would she specifically choose them?

"Ms. Skye, what products are you interested in purchasing, and how many pieces?"

"I've looked at your jewelry. The jade quality is excellent—some pieces could even be called perfect. I've also heard rumors about Ms. Brown's stone gambling skills. I really didn't expect Ms. Brown to have such impressive expertise in this area at such a young age."

These words felt somewhat strange.

Sophia's expression remained unchanged as she continued the conversation smoothly.

"Ms. Skye, you're too kind. So what kind of jewelry are you planning to have custom-made?"

As she finished speaking, the other person placed a design portfolio in front of Sophia.

"What I want is this. Ms. Brown, why don't you take a good look and then give me an answer?"

Looking at the smile on her face, Sophia felt something was off. She took the design portfolio and opened the first page—her expression froze.

The smile at the corner of her lips stiffened on her face, but she regained her composure in just an instant.

"Ms. Skye's designs are quite good. I've never seen such excellent sketches before."

Sophia feigned surprise, her fingers hidden beneath the portfolio, curving and gripping the cover tightly.

"I knew Ms. Brown would be satisfied with this portfolio. So I'll pay the deposit today, and after you finish making them, I'll pay the rest."

Nola said with a light laugh, taking out a pre-drafted contract and handing it over.

"Ms. Brown, you can look over this contract first. Once you've confirmed everything, we can sign. If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

"Okay."

Nola walked to the door and looked back at Sophia with a meaningful gaze, her eyes crinkling with a smile, then turned and walked away.

This person...

Sophia stood at the door, staring at her retreating figure in a daze.

"Ms. Brown, is there something wrong with that person? If you feel something's off, we don't have to do business with her."

Seeing her expression, Zander quickly stepped forward to advise.

Sophia shook her head wearily and said, "It's nothing. She just reminded me of someone. We'll take this business."

The sketches were drawn by Dax before. You could clearly see some tea stains on them—she had accidentally spilled hot tea on them while fooling around.

If she remembered correctly, these were on the yacht. Why would they appear here now? Could Dax still be alive?

No!

The ship had exploded repeatedly—there was no way anyone could have escaped. Otherwise, why wouldn't there have been any news of them all these years?

Sophia's heart surged with hatred, tears welling in her eyes. Her fingers tightened as she turned and went back into Jade Haven.

Not long after, a business van appeared in front of the Brown family residence.

"Dad, do we have guests today? Why is there a car parked outside?"

Hearing this, Chase walked to the door. The black business van parked at the main gate was particularly conspicuous.

"I haven't heard about anyone coming today. Let's see who it is first."

The security guard at the gate spoke through the intercom.

"Mr. Brown, they say they're an important guest of the Brown family and want you to come to the gate to receive them personally. Otherwise, you'll miss out on a big deal."

Hearing about business, Juno immediately perked up and came over.

"Chase, I think your luck is turning around. The people above just helped us solve our troubles—now here's a deal. If we can get some money back for the company, won't we be back on our feet?"

This deal sounded good. Chase nodded thoughtfully.

"Alright, I'll go to the gate and see who it is that insists I personally receive them."

The family of three rushed to the gate. Chase greeted them with a smile, and the large iron gate opened at that moment.

"I don't know which big shot has honored us with their presence! Let me have someone prepare..."

"Thanks for offering to prepare food for me, but unfortunately, eating at your place could kill someone."
