Chapter 67 Unexpected Person, Bruce

Chapter 67 Unexpected Person, Bruce

Emily bared her teeth like a wild animal.

She let out a shout and rushed towards the two of them, but Isla stepped in to block her.

"Hey, you don't know Ms. Brown, do you? Show some respect!"

Emily glared at Isla with wide eyes, full of malice.

"Who do you think you are? Do I need to care about anyone when I want to do things?"

She brushed past Isla, her gaze landing on Sophia.

Her stare was like a hungry wolf eyeing its prey, ready to tear her apart and consume her.

It was people like Emily who had drained the Brown family dry, and now these three were back to stir up trouble. There must be something suspicious going on behind the scenes.

"Sophia, don't think you can scare us by hiring a few people. You pose no threat to us now!"

Sophia heard this and curled her lips into a slight smile, taking two steps forward.

She lifted her chin and spoke in a calm tone.

"Oh, really?"

"Yes, you wretched...!"

A loud slap landed on Emily's face.

The sudden commotion drew everyone's attention.

The slap left Emily stunned. She covered her swollen cheek and looked at Sophia in disbelief.

She spat out her words through clenched teeth, glaring at Sophia.

"How dare you hit me!"

As she finished speaking, she raised her hand to slap Sophia back.

Before Isla could intervene, another slender arm blocked Emily's hand.

"Sophia is my honored guest. Do you intend to disrespect her in front of me?"

Aurelia's eyes were cold as she effortlessly held Emily's hand back.

Her words left Emily shocked, and she gasped.

"An honored guest? Her?"

Aurelia's face darkened, and she raised her hand, signaling two security guards who quickly appeared by her side.

"Ms. Kingsley."

"I think you should learn some basic etiquette before coming to the Kingsley Family's banquet. Escort this rude person out."

Aurelia spoke coldly, giving Emily a disdainful look.

The two security guards nodded without asking any questions, and they grabbed Emily's arms, dragging her out.

Emily's cries echoed in the hall, filled with curses aimed at Sophia.

"Sophia, you wretched girl! I don't believe you'll have a good ending, Sophia!"

Aurelia, unable to tolerate it any longer, grabbed a cloth napkin from a nearby table and swiftly stuffed it into Emily's mouth, bringing silence.

Aurelia's fiery temper wouldn't let Emily off easily, but her decisive action was beyond Sophia's expectations.

The commotion had grown too loud, and Chase, who had been absent, rushed over upon hearing Emily's cries.

He arrived just in time to see Emily being dragged out without any dignity.

As soon as Chase appeared in the hall, Sophia spotted him.

Sophia's demeanor shifted from innocent and cool to one of blatant provocation, her smile growing wider. She wanted Chase to feel uncomfortable.

"Chase, if I'm not mistaken, the person being dragged out just now is your daughter, right?"

"I thought she looked familiar. You know, it's pretty dumb to piss off Aurelia. Everyone knows the Kingsley family spoils her the most."

"You can't totally blame Ms. Kingsley. If Emily hadn't messed with Ms. Kingsley's friend, she wouldn't be in this mess."

As they spoke, they glanced at Chase's expression.

Chase's face was grim. He couldn't say much on the host's turf, and he knew who had started the trouble.

Since Sophia had escaped from her, Emily seemed obsessed with tormenting Sophia, never letting her have peace.

"By the way, I think I heard Emily calling that girl Sophia. Isn't she Aiden's daughter? She should call you uncle, right? But I sense a lot of hatred from Emily towards Sophia."

The speaker's words were loaded with meaning, and he glanced at Chase.

Everyone knew there was more to the fire incident than met the eye, but no one dared to investigate.

They didn't believe Chase was innocent in all this.

"But it's just family squabbles. Emily sometimes speaks without thinking, but blood ties can't be broken."

He chose his words carefully.

From the moment Chase appeared, Sophia had noticed him.

This family was full of scoundrels. The Brown family had long been corrupt, and everything they had would be taken back step by step.

"Sophia, are you okay?" Aurelia asked with gentle concern.

"I'm fine. You still have the banquet to attend. I'll go out for some fresh air. Isla will be with me, so I'll be okay."

She gave Aurelia a reassuring smile.

After confirming several times, Aurelia agreed to let her leave.

Watching Sophia's departing figure, Aurelia couldn't help but worry.

"It's rare to see Ms. Kingsley care so much about someone, especially another woman. Isn't it common for women to dislike each other? Moreover, Sophia is now a fallen person, with no money or connections. Why do you care so much about her?"

Sean followed Aurelia with a wine glass, saying things she detested.

"Mr. Gray, it seems you only see the surface."

Aurelia didn't want to waste time with him and turned to leave, but Sean angrily grabbed her back.

He pulled her wrist, his face stiffening as he did.

"What do you mean? How am I shortsighted?"

Aurelia didn't spare him any face, rolling her eyes and twisting her wrist free.

"Sophia may not have money or background now, but she has a resilient spirit that's hard to ignore. That's her charm. If the Gray family lost everything and only left you in the world, would you have the courage to start over like her?"

Sean was left speechless.

He stared at Aurelia, surprised by her philosophical words.

Seeing Sean's dumbfounded look, Aurelia shook her head in exasperation, muttering as she walked away.

"Some people are just fools. No matter what you say, it's like talking to a brick wall."

"You! That's not fair! Wait for me!"

Sophia left the hall and went to the balcony for some fresh air. As she opened the door, she saw a familiar figure.

Bruce? What's he doing here?
