Chapter 79 : I Am Scared
Chapter 79: I Am Scared
Luciano
“I am here!” Sophie descended the staircase, a handbag on her forearm which I knew had all the chocolate she could fit in it. She was wearing a black jacket with a white shirt that had some paint on it and black trousers. She reached my bicep in the heels she was wearing. He looked at the kitten in my hand.
“You have Hera, she and Aphrodite love cuddling and sleeping.” She gently petted the kitten.
Two more of the kittens rushed towards us, jumping around her feet.
“These are Athena and Hestia. They hate sleeping and cuddling.” She tried to pick one but the kittens snarled at her. My eyes narrowed.
“Let's go,” I said to her, handing the kitten back to Nia who cuddled her to her chest, looking delighted.
I intertwined my fingers with Sophie, pressing a kiss to her knuckles and led her to the garage.
“Where are the Santoro's living now?” She asked as I unlocked the car and opened the door for her.
“They have multiple properties in the city.” I replied, closing the door after she was in.
“Oh,” she murmured as I entered the car.
“They are like…your best friends?” She asked as I turned on the car engine. I hummed and shrugged.
“How was your classes?” I asked and she let out a sigh.
“Good,” I frowned, sneaking a look at her. She was frowning down at her hands, looking to be contemplating on something.
“Say it, Sophie.” I drove off the garage and in a few minutes, we were on the main road. I didn't have a destination in mind, maybe we could get ice cream and go to the beach. We did own a beach house here but it wasn't safe.
“Nothing,” he muttered.
“Sophie?” I demanded and she looked out of the window stubbornly.
“Is your ass not bruised enough?” I asked, putting a hand on her thigh.
“I could make it hurt, little girl. Don't text daddy.” She bit her lip.
“You don't tell me anything.” I frowned at her words.
“What do you mean?”
“You could have elaborated on Santoro's question.” She mumbled.
“But, you just shrugged.”
“They are our best friends, we are besties and we paint each other's nial, happy now?”
I didn't like her prying. She removed her hand from her thigh and looked out the window.
“I want to go back home.” She blurted.
“It is not safe.”
My hands gripped the steering wheel tighter, I wasn't used to being questioned. She didn't need to know why the Santoro's were our friends.
“I won't tell you anything from now on.” A small sniffle left her mouth and I froze.
“I will just shrug and you can tell me what that feels like.” She wiped off her face. I stopped the car on the edge of the road. We were in a fairly uncrowded area. I undid my seatbelt and pulled her on my lap.
“Baby girl,” I called and she looked away from me. I wiped the tears off her face.
“You never tell me anything, I don't even know your middle names.”
“Martin,” I replied, setting my forehead against hers.
“Santoro's are our best friends, yes and they have been for over a decade.”
“How did you meet?” She looked up at me.
We met in a cell but I can't tell her that.
“We met…” I sighed.
“There is stuff I don't want to tell you, baby but I can answer questions.” She nodded, setting her head against my chest. I turned her till she was straddling me and wrapped an arm around her.
“Ask me more.”
“What is your favorite color?”
“Whatever shade your eyes are.” She smiled, tears were long forgotten.
“Your favorite actor?” I shrugged.
“I have never had one, and you?” She shrugged, not answering. I rolled my eyes, chuckling.
“Answer me, you little brat.” She fiddled with the collar of my shirt.
“Who are you closer to, Angelo or Adriano?”
“Equal, people expect me and Adriano to be closer because we kind of look the same but it is not the case.” I intertwined our fingers.
“Which one of us do you like the most?” I asked. I didn't want her to have a favorite. She smiled shyly.
“I like all three of you.”
And I love you. If my brother could say it, perhaps I would have if I hadn't spotted him. Someone was looking right at the car. I didn't know it was, but he was on his phone. And Sophie was supposed to be at home and in my arms.

Sophie POV
“Little bunny.” Luciano called as he gripped my waist gently.
“Humm?” I tried to look where he was looking. He grabbed the back of my neck and smashed his lips with mine.
“There is someone here.” I said into the kiss.
“I don't want him to know I have seen him.” He kissed my neck and I froze. Someone was watching us.
“You are going to stay on my lap like a good girl, hide your face in my neck as you do when you blush and I will drive us somewhere. Don't let go of me or try to look out of the car till I say so. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” I whispered, digging my face into his neck.
“Good girl.” He turned on the car engine, wrapping an arm tightly around my waist as he began driving.
“Nothing to be scared of, baby girl. Your location has been compromised, we have to take you somewhere else now and lose the damn car?” He said and it sounded like something to be scared of.
“I am scared,” I held him tightly.
“I will die before I let anything happen to you, Sophie. I hold the proof of it on my body.” He kissed my head.
“Reach into my jacket pocket and take my phone out, call Adriano and Angelo and put the call on speaker.”
I reached into his pocket and gripped the phone, the windows and the rear windshield were tinted, the only danger of anyone spotting us was from the front and he was driving alarmingly fast, weaving through the streets and roads effortlessly. I clicked on Angelo's name as I found on his recent dialled number. It rang once, and then he picked up on the third ring.
“What do you want, Luciano?”
“We have been spotted.” He muttered.
“Bring me a new car, we need to drive back home. I wouldn't put bombing the fucking airport past the Taghi.”
“Fúck,” he muttered.
“I will meet you,” he told us the location we were going to meet and hung up.
“We are going to drive back home?” I asked and he hummed.
“Jets are too noticeable, I am not sure about going back home either but they won't expect it. We have a place there which I doubt any of them know, Nia and her father will fly back with your kittens.”
“Aren't they in danger?” I asked.
