Chapter 54 : I Deserve That

Chapter 54 : I Deserve That
Chapter 54: I Deserve That

Luciano

“I know,” I said, moving Sophie till she was straddling me.

“I am so sorry.”

“Why did you blame me?” She asked, sobbing harder and gripping me tightly.

“I..I would never do that.”

I muttered apologize to her as she sobbed and shook in my arms, crying her heart out. I had never been bad to her, wd never really has issues but I fucked that up. It was like my brothers and I were fucking it up one by one. What if she left. I looked down at her, she had fallen asleep in my arms and I wiped the tears away from her face. She couldn't leave, not now when we had her. When I could pick her up and kiss her anytime, now when she let me talk to her and now that she was not scared of us anymore. I couldn't let her go, not now, not ever. I walked away out of the room with her in my arms. She slept heavily when she was in our arms but if we put her down on the bed, she would wake up if you breathe too loud.

I ordered Max to take us to the hospital as I sat down in the back seat of the car with her still in my arms. I pulled her closer to me, brushing my thumb over her cheek as she slept. He turned on the engine of the car and drove out of the garage, his big form dwarfing the seat he was on. Before long, we were already stopped in front of the hospital. I slipped out of the car, Sophie still clutched in my arms. Her bodyguards had followed us, I hadn't ordered them to do it and it wasn't necessary when she was with us but I knew some of them had soft spots for her. How could they not? We walked into the hospital, I went to the elevator, feeling eyes on me and mad especially the woman sleeping in my arms. Maybe she didn't get much sleep, I still wondered why she had run out of the kitchen like that. Was she mad at Angelo?

I got out of the elevator and walked to where Adriano’s poisoned ass was. I didn't like seeing him in pain but I  was used to it. I had found him fainted in the middle of his office, unmoving even when we kicked him, although not too harsh. I walked into the hospital room. He was up, glaring down at the food in front of him. He had been in an emergency first but now he was shifted to another room. I had gone to Sophie's room after making sure he was okay for hours. He looked at me and then at her and smiled.

“You brought, kitten? Give her to me.”

“No,” I sat down on the chair near him.

“Say that again.” I chuckled.

“Here,” he shifted back and I laid her on his lap. His eyes moved over the stains of tears on her cheeks.

“What happened?”

“I..” I sighed.

“I fucked up, a lot.”

The door opened, Angelo walked inside, he looked tired.

“Susan doesn't know shit, the CCTV doesn't have shit but one thing is clear. Sophie was the target, I am sure they thought she would taste her cake and they did not care about the collateral damage. There were traces of poison in some of the cupcakes she had bought too, the ones made today were poisoned and the ones made yesterday weren't.”

“They must have put it in the chocolate frosting.” Adriano said.

“Someone who knows she can't go without chocolate.”

“Someone she had been friends with for a while.” I muttered, running a hand through my hair. I didn't want to hunt Sarah, I did not want Sophie to go through betrayal.

“Her location is unknown and she called Sophie today.” Angelo said.

“Yet, her location is still unknown.”

I looked at Sophie. What had Sarah said to her?

Sophie POV

I woke up on Adriano's chest. I looked up at him and he was already looking down at me.

“Hey, kitten.” He whispered, kissing me.

I sat up, I was in the hospital room, on the bed and on his lap.

“Are you okay?” I asked, cupping his face with my small hands. He nudged my nose with his.

“Yes,” he kissed me again.

“I just needed my kitten’s kiss.” He kissed me.

“I..I didn't do it.” I told him in a whisper.

“You know that, right? I would never hurt you like this.” He frowned.

“You think I thought you were the one that poisoned me?” He asked.

“I..yes.”

“What?” He chuckled, wrapping his arms tightly around me.

“Why would I think that? If I did, I wouldn't be kissing you, would I?” He kissed me again.

“You are so fucking addicting.”

“Okay,” I whispered, looking down at my hand.

“Did anyone accuse you of this?”

“No,” I replied.

“Kitten?” He warned.

“Who said it ?” I bit my lip.

“No one.” I muttered.

“Kitten!” He grabbed my neck, making me look at him.

“Tell me, who accused you of this?”

“Luciano,” I whispered, he froze.

“I am sure he was just confused and…”

The door opened and Luciano entered the room. Adriano stood up, taking the heart monitor to think off his finger along with the other things attached to him.

“What the fuck!” He barked at his brother. Luciano pressed his lips together in a thin line.

“Adria..” he punched him right on the cheekbone, cutting him off.

My eyes widened as I gasped, Luciano didn't flinch and he didn't even try to block him either. He nodded.

“I deserve that,  I am sorry.” He looked at me.

“I am sorry, baby.”

“Have you completely lost it?” Adriano hissed.

“Adriano,” I whispered, getting off the bed and putting a hand on his shoulder.

“Don't, please.”

I didn't like violence. I have had enough of it in my life already. He nodded.

“Sorry, kitten.”

“Ouch!” I mumbled.

“Sorry,” Luciano said, now softly massaging my back.

“Are you okay?” I nodded.

We were back at the mansion and Adriano was in his room. He didn't want to stay there anymore but it was clear that he was still not feeling well and actually really needed to be at the hospital. He was sleeping, I had made sure he slept. The door opened and Angelo entered the room.

“Hey, princess.” He said, sitting down beside me and picking me up.

“How are you?”

“I am okay,” I whispered. He didn't smell of that perfume anymore.

“C..can I talk to you?” He hummed.

“I will give you some space.” Luciano kissed my cheek and walked out of the room, softly closing the door.

“I..” I got off his lap, folding my legs under me and he watched me.

“Yes?”

Speak, Sophie.

“I..I think I should know if you have someone else. I mean, I deserve to know, don't I?”

I looked away from him, hating how small my voice sounded.
