Chapter 126
Vasperia watched Ethan brush past her like the wind and she swallowed, her lips quivered in worry and she wondered what might have happened or if his people were hurt as he had insinuated, her eyes darted back to the party where Venom took and another heavy cloud of worry overwhelmed her.
Her throat constricted against her lungs and she had difficulty breathing, muttering and whispering words of lamentations all to her hearing but one thing kept her emotions in check.
The necklace.
She believed it was going to save him, and ward off any evil attacks. She hopes he was able to hide his powers with the bracelet on his wrists. He was too pure to be killed. Maybe he hurt people through his powers but Venom doesn't even know what he was doing.
"Please Luna, let's go already." One of the guards resorted to pleading. They couldn't bear it if anything happened to her out of the blue or if they couldn't protect her. It got worse than she did the formidable by taking off her necklace to give it to the little brat she cared about the most.
'Do you think he would be safe?' she asked the guard, blinking her hazel eyes that were the most beautiful thing to him at the moment and he swallowed, shaking his head to stop the admiration bit Vasperia took that as his answer and sat dejectedly on the floor, and nodded with tears streaming down her face.
"I know…I know he's not safe and something bad might happen."
One of the guards flared at the other for spouting such a negative word who sighed in confusion and shook his head.
" That's not what he meant, Luna. He's going to be fine, your efforts and the powers of the necklace are enough to protect him wherever he is. So please let's go already or Alpha might be worried and start searching for you." He told her in the calmest way possible as if he was coaxing a child and it worked.
She wiped her face and nodded at him, getting up from the grassy floor and turning her back to leave the men. The journey was farther than when they came here. she whined and complained in pain.
She wondered how she was able to walk through miles and across the borders to be an ok Moon pack. It was a pretty long journey that made her sulk and she gritted her teeth.
"I need a car please, anything at all to make me stop walking." She complained bitterly and the men twitched their lips. Going back to get a car to drive down here would be such a hassle but carrying her to where the car was would be faster and easier.
"Give us your permission to carry you Luna, we'll take you to where the car is."
The guard who had replied to her earlier suggested it and she shook her head.
"That's such a punishment."
"It's not." He replied immediately and pleaded.
"Just permit us Luna, it's not a punishment, please. We need to get out of here before the weird creatures start to surface because it's getting late." He told her and her eyes widened at his words she looked around and discovered that they were alone in the deserted wood and she gulped.
"Alright, let's leave here but you can drop me when you're tired." She suggested and he nodded, making it his hip to carry her when she weighed nothing.
A hint of embarrassment flushed her cheeks when she realised that they walked faster than how she had expected and she had been the reason for her slowness.
They walked so fast and went out of the woods, passing the burnt store till they reached where the car was packed.
In silence, she watched the woods in a blur and the silent streets while feeling the evening breeze in the car until they reached the pack.
Kaylan stepped out and the sight that greeted her made her gasp. Heaven was standing by the entrance, looking lost and solemn. Her eyes were red from the effect of tears she hastened her steps to meet her with a hinge of anger at the bridge of her throat.
"Heaven" The words left her lips breathlessly as she hugged her tightly.
"What are you doing here? You should be in your pack, what happened?"
She ranted in worry and the beautiful lady bit her lips and sniffed.
"I was waiting for you to permit me to go Inside, I'm glad you're back. You should be resting after the war Kaylan" She told Kaylan and observed her bare neck, wondering if she must have taken it off during the fight but she pushed the thoughts away.
"That's nonsense Heaven, you have every right to be Inside! Why would the guards let you stand outside like a stranger?" She growled and shook her head in response and smiled.
"I told them not to bother."
"Still, this is embarrassing. Cypher would have gone nuts and punished them if he saw you instead."
She tried to convince her that standing outside was the worst form of embarrassment to the back and warned her not to do it again, before leading her Inside.
The moment she got Inside her room, she broke down crying in bitter tears and Kaylan's heart clenched and hammered against her chest.
"I can't find him, Kaylan, he disappeared. My son disappeared out of the blue and it's all my fault." She gritted her teeth amidst tears and regretted her actions of staying far from him all because of fear.
"He left the moment my husband suggested taking him to that horrifying place, I knew he was listening. What do I do Kaylan? I think I'm going to go crazy?" She groaned bitterly that Kaylan could feel the raw bitterness and agony oozing from her heart and hot tears fell but she wiped it off and patted her shoulder.
"It's okay, we're going to find him, Heaven. But going weak at the moment when you've barely started the journey might kill you before you see your son." She tried to convince her even though every fibre of her was laced with guilt spreading to her brain.
"It's going to be okay." She whispered but her wolf scoffed forcing her to tell the truth and how they might never see him again.
"By the way, Kaylan, where's your necklace?"
