Chapter 25

**Cyrus**

I watched from a distance as she ran into Zander. It was perfect for her to run into him instead of keeping her. I didn’t know if I could keep my cool around her. It was one thing for what she did this morning, but another to flaunt her new boy toy around us like that. Like we were nothing. I knew the other guys had girlfriends so to them it wasn’t going to seem like a big deal, but to me it was a big deal. It was a very big deal. I didn’t have anyone else to fuck my frustrations out on. To pretend they were her. It was hard for me to even get a girlfriend. Though not as hard as you would think. Girls seemed attracted to me since I didn’t speak. It was something that was mysterious. Plus add on that I am a star athlete and have a bad past. It just makes girls go running for some reason. If I wanted to I could have my pick of the litter. I used to allow that, but now Winter is back. All my mind could be consumed with thoughts of Winter. She was the reason that none of my relationships were anything but hookups. I couldn’t stop seeing Winter whenever I fucked them. It wasn’t fair to them to do something like that with them. I mean I could and they would never know the difference, but I wasn’t a heartless man like everyone wanted to make me out to be.

I kept watching them from the sidelines until they walked away. I knew Zander was probably taking her home. Lucky bitch didn’t know how good he had it. She got to stay in his house. I probably would have even bothered with the dorms. Maybe it wouldn’t make my home life such shit. My home life had always been shit and I don’t think even Winter would have made it better. Maybe just a little to the point of where I could actually stand to be in the presence of my family. I couldn’t stand my family. I thought it would have gotten better when my mom finally got the balls to kick my useless step father out of the house. It didn’t. She got just another useless man to replace him. At least this wasn’t as bad as before.

Someone bumped into me pulling me away from my thoughts. I shouldn’t have been ,surprised to see who it was. He was probably watching the exact same thing I was. Nev. The man who was trying to take away what was rightfully mine. What was rightfully ours. I wasn’t the type of man who liked to share, but these guys were different. They saved my life back in the day and I owed them something. Who knows where I would have been without them saving me, back in the day. I could be dead or in jail. Both if I was really unlucky which I normally was.

Nev looked at me when he bumped into me. “Sorry man, I didn’t see you there.” He said touching my arm gently. He brushed me off like I had dirt on me. I didn’t like him touching me, but it wasn’t like I was going to stay. It’s the one thing I always didn’t like about not speaking, but what was the point of speaking when barely anyone listened. I learned a long time ago it was better for me to stay silent. That was the way people liked me.

He slowly moved his hands down when I didn’t say anything back. He is still new so he doesn’t know that I don’t speak, but I know he has heard the rumors. I know what people say behind my back about me and it wasn’t pretty.

“Sorry,” he said backing away from me with his hands up. “I know you don’t talk, but I hear some things.” So he did know I didn’t talk. I was curious what your deal is with Winter?” My deal is she belongs to me and you are getting in the way. I didn’t need to say it though. I was close to teaching him the same way I taught Rex what happens when you mess with what belongs to me.

I shrugged as I narrowed my eyes. I didn’t want to give him any ideas just yet. It was more fun when you surprised them with the consequences of their actions.

“I know you guys might have a past that I don’t know much about. I haven’t heard anything, but rumors. I don’t go off rumors. I want to hear the truth. I am just scared to ask her.” He sighed. “Why am I talking to you?”

I don’t know. Same reason girls feel the need to empty their heart and soul to me. I don’t talk back so they feel like they can talk easier to me.

“I really like her though. I just want you to know that. I will be damned if someone gets in the way of that. She is a cool girl who deserves to be with someone who actually likes her.”

My eyes narrowed more. Something seemed off. Why did he want to be with her so badly? He barely knew her enough to make such claims like this. Was he a boy who just fell in love with anyone? I really hoped not. Those ones are going to be harder to get rid of. Not that I care. I will still get what I want in the end.

I shook my head as I walked passed him. I am done with this conversation. I don't want to hear anymore about how much he loved her when he barely knew her. He didn’t know what a dirty little girl she could be. He will never get to know any of that. That will just be between me and the boys. Forever. No one will ever do that. I will make sure of it.
