Chapter 48 Chapter 47
Alpha King Kieran.
Bottoming out of her, I bend her in half before shoving back into her and she let out a yelp when I hit her cervix. Her hands flew to my chest, gripping my tunic as she tried to push me away, screams falling from her lips. I just kissed her harder, picking up speed. Digging my nails into her hips, my thrusts loosing all rhythm, I finally erupt, pumping my essence into her till she's filled up and dripping with both our release, the sight erotic as hell.
She sobbed, holding on to me as her orgasm rocked through her, her body convulsing underneath me. Feeling myself go slack, I pulled out of her and feel genuine exhaustion for the first time in a long time. I've broken too many of my rules tonight, I can't afford to break any more.
I waited till her hands fell to her side, freeing me from her grasp before I pull away, immediately putting on my discarded robe.
"You can leave now. You're dismissed." I muttered after a long moment of silence. She gazed at me for a moment before sliding out of the bed, her legs barely able to hold up her weight. I looked away from her, not wanting to feel that stab of pity that always seemed to assualt me when I saw her like this, the emotions in me were far too conflicting.
With wobbly legs, she started out the chambers, stopping at the door to glance at me. "Is... Everything okay?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper, filled with genuine concern.
I stared at her for a moment, before frowning. "That's none of your business." I snapped back, keeping an impassive look on my face. I could see the hurt in her eyes, the confusion that clouded her features, but I couldn't allow myself to care.
Left alone with my thoughts, I ran my hands through my hair and went to sit down, focusing on the task at hand. Something definitely wrong with Evelyn, but I would not confront her directly. There are other ways to lure I can use to have her confess. And at the end of it all, I hoped to be the one to win.
Amaris.
The sun shone brightly overhead, casting a warm golden glow over the palace gardens. After a long moment of thinking and contemplating, I finally came to a decision. Warily, I contacted Ethan and he agreed to meet me today. Walking out of the maid's quarters to the palace garden, I could feel my heart racing, and I swallowed tightly, doing my best to calm my jittering nerves. I took a deep breath, feeling the gentle breeze caress my skin as I made my way towards the designated meeting spot.
As I approached, I saw him waiting there, his figure tall and imposing against the backdrop of vibrant flowers. His soldiers were far behind me but he outshone them all, looking absolutely breathtaking. My heart skipped a beat and I could feel heart rushing to my cheeks but I held on to control and continued walking towards him. His eyes met mine, a mix of hope and uncertainty shining within them. I couldn't help but notice how the sunlight danced upon his features, illuminating the lines of his face and casting a soft glow around him. Taking a deep breath, I mustered the courage to speak.
"Your highness." I greeted, bowing slightly when I got to his presence. His eyes, usually filled with confidence, now held a hint of uncertainty. He fixed me an inscrutable look for a moment before dismissing it with a wave of his hand.
"You shouldn't use such pleasantries on me, seeing that you're the daughter of a duke as well. Ethan would be just fine." He stated, his voice devoid of any emotions. "You called for me?" He asked and I nodded.
"Indeed I did. I may have come to a decision. Shall we take a walk?" I asked, my voice steady but tinged with a hint of nervousness.
He nodded, a flicker of relief crossing his face. Together, we began to stroll through the gardens, the scent of blooming flowers filling the air. The sound of birds chirping and the gentle rustle of leaves provided a soothing backdrop to our conversation. The atmosphere was serene, a stark contrast to the storm of emotions swirling within me.
As we walked side by side, memories of our past flooded my mind. The pain, the betrayal, and the shattered trust. It was difficult to forget the hurt he had caused me, but I couldn't deny the flicker of hope that burned within me. Perhaps, just perhaps, he was serious about this and he had changed.
"Ethan," I began, my voice soft but filled with a hint of caution. "I spoke with the Alpha king. He told me about your weakening state, about the curse that binds us. Is it true?" I asked, glancing at him.
Ethan's gaze met mine, his eyes filled with a mixture of vulnerability and regret. "Yes, Amaris," he admitted, his voice tinged with sadness. "Everything the Alpha king said is true. I am growing weaker with each passing day."
I slowed in my steps, my heart racing as I considered his words. "Why didn't you say that earlier?"
You didn't give a chance to. And besides, I didn't think it was right to let you know so quickly."
A pang of sympathy tugged at my heart. Despite everything, I didn't want him to suffer. "I don't want you dead," I confessed, my voice filled with sincerity. "But that doesn't mean I'm ready to accept you either." I admitted, my voice small.
Ethan stopped walking, turning to face me, a somber look on his face. Understanding etched in his eyes, he sighed and began speaking "I know I've made mistakes, Amaris," he said, his voice filled with genuine remorse. "But I'm willing to work for your acceptance. I've realized the error of my ways, and I want to make amends. Please, just give me a chance."
His words hung in the air, the weight of his plea settling upon me. My heart began to pound and I looked into his eyes, searching for any hint of deception, any sign that he was playing a game. But all I saw was a vulnerability that mirrored my own. Pressing my lips together into a tight line, I wringed my hands together, looking away from his as I tried to acclimate my feelings.
"I can't give you an answer now." I muttered lowly, my voice filled with a mix of determination and uncertainty. "Just like you said, you will have to work for it. You'll get your answer at the Moon goddess festival that is coming soon, that is, if you're willing to wait." I said.
