Chapter 43 Chapter 42

Chapter 43 Chapter 42
Evelyn.

"We've finally got you." One of them sneered as he approached me, his lustful gaze raking all over me like I was piece of meat. "What is a girl like you doing in these woods all by yourself? You know it's forbidden to venture out here all alone."

"Good for us though..." Another growled into my ears as dragged me to my feet with my hair, causing me to bite back a scream at the pain that lashed through me. "It means we get to enjoy you without anyone disturbing us." He added.

"Let go of me!" I screamed, struggling to get away from him but he only held me tighter. One hand reached for my breasts and he squeezed it tightly as the others came closer, wearing their evil intent like clothing. Panic surged through me, and I instantly regretted my decisions for coming out.

"Oh, she's going to be a lot of fun!" One of them bellowed and they broke out in laughter. Tears immediately sprang in my eyes and I felt horrified to bits.

"Someone help!!! Please help me!" I screamed as they tackled me to the ground, hovering on top of me, tears leaving my eyes like torrents of rain. I'm so scared! This is too terrible! I continued screaming for help, hoping that someone, anyone, would come to my aid.

But before help could arrive, a blow struck me, sending waves of pain radiating through my body. Darkness closed in around me, and I succumbed to its embrace, my consciousness slipping away.

Alpha king keiran.

The afternoon sun blazed high in the sky, casting long shadows that danced among the trees. Despite the warmth, an unshakable restlessness gripped me. The palace walls felt suffocating, and I yearned for the serenity of the forest. So, I took a break, shifting into my wolf after a long time of having it caged, and ventured into the woods, hoping to find some respite for my agitated soul.

My powerful legs carried me through the dense forest, the canopy of leaves filtering the intense sunlight. Each stride brought me closer to the serenity I sought. The earthy scent of pine and the chorus of birds filled the air, gradually easing the tension that had knotted my muscles.

As I sprinted through the woods, the whisper of the wind among the leaves and the occasional rustling of small creatures provided a soothing backdrop. However, my thoughts couldn't escape her—Evelyn. Her image consumed my mind, and with it, a mix of longing and frustration.

I had been avoiding her, refusing to summon her into my chambers for days now, avoiding the undeniable connection that bound us. The desires I harbored were primal, possessive, and I had suppressed them for years. But recent events had thrust our connection into the forefront of my thoughts, refusing to be ignored.

I didn't need to close my eyes for the images to flood my mind. Images of her responding to my touch, her moans sounding like music to my ears and how her beautiful brown hair had been disheveled by her constant trashing due to the overwhelming sensations coursing through her when I was fucking her mindlessly. To top it all off, the way her wolf had called out to me after everything, sealing the deal. It had revealed the enigmatic bond between us— the unexplainable connection we had that I was reluctant to explore, yet I couldn't deny it. It was real, it was tangible, and it haunted my every waking moment.

The scent of pine and earth filled the air, mingling with the musk of the forest's creatures but I could barely register as I ran through the thick forest.I pushed myself harder, running faster, as if I could outrun my own thoughts. The rhythmic beat of my heart and the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves momentarily calmed the storm within me. The forest, my sanctuary, had always been a place to escape the weight of my crown and the nightmares of my past. But now there was a new addition, one that threatened to be worse than the rest.

The short reprieve I felt whenever I was with her was quickly dismantling and my wolf was beginning to claw inside me, desperate for me to claim her once more. It wasn't a wanted anymore, it's a need. I needed to have her under me, feel her around me, breathe in her scent and never part with her. I've never been this obsessive before and it felt like the more I pushed her away, the important she became. I ran to a stop, panting heavily as I slowed near a river. I couldn't do this, I just can't.

I tried to relax by the water, lapping some up to quench the thirst that had built up thanks to my endless running when I heard it. Like a shockwave through the tranquil afternoon, a cry of distress pierced the air. My instincts surged. I perked my ears, my senses heightened almost immediately and I strained to locate the source of the cry.

I heard it again and this time, it felt so awfully familiar, my blood ran cold. My wolf let out a loud howl, and rage from nowhere slammed into me, my claws elongating as I seethed, growling loudly. It didn't take me long to pinpoint it. Urgency coursed through me, and I charged towards the cry, my powerful form a blur in the sunlit forest.

I sprinted through the underbrush, my senses heightened, every fiber of my being attuned to the urgency of the situation. The scent of fear and desperation filled the air, mingling with the metallic tang of blood. My heart pounded in my chest, a primal rhythm that matched the urgency of my steps.

It didn't take long for me to find the source of the distress call and when I did, my heart fell to the bottom of paws, crushed and battered. There, in a small clearing was Evelyn, lying on the ground, surrounded by a group of men who about to violate her in the most despicable way. She looked battered and must have passed out from the intensity of it. Her clothes were already torn, her delicate skin marred with bruises and blood trickling from the side of her head. Rage surged through me, a tempest that threatened to consume everything in its path. Without a second thought, I launched myself at the attackers, my fangs bared and claws unsheathed.
