Chapter 113 Chapter 112
Morticia.
I huddled down in my bleak, musty cell. Staring unseeing to the cell opposite mine, I pursed my lips, my throat parched from ages of screaming and thirsting for water. The flickering torches barely illuminated the stone walls, casting eerie shadows that danced in the corners of my cell. It was a place of despair, a place where I had been left to wither away, forgotten and abandoned. Gnashing my teeth in anger, I pressed myself deeper into the darkness, consumed by thoughts and the memories that plagued me.
As I lay on the cold, unforgiving floor, the distant sounds of chaos reached my ears. The muffled echoes of hurried footsteps, the clanging of armor, and the distant cries of alarm. The dungeon was alive with the frenzied energy of the kingdom in turmoil. Intrigued, I strained to catch the fragments of conversation drifting through the thick walls. Nothing but distant muffles reached me and I furrowed my brows in frustration.
Crawling to the edge of my cell, I looked around, my gaze falling on the new guard that just walked into the dungeons. Beckoning on him to come closer, I pressed my face to the cold steel bars in an attempt to bring myself closer to him.
"What's happening?" I asked, my voice scratchy due to weeks of unuse.
"There's been an attack on the kingdom." He grimly replied, a shadow crossing his face. He blinked and it was gone, directing his gaze towards me. "The Alpha King is mobilizing the forces but the situation is quite dire as the enemy is ruthless, striking from all sides!"
"Oh...." I mumbled, trailing off as different kinds of thoughts swirled in my mind. The guard have me a pensive look before retreating back to his position, leaving me kneeling there. A sly smile crept onto my lips. Finally, the wheels of my intricate plan were set into motion. The chaos outside was not a mere disturbance; it was the symphony of my revenge, the culmination of months of suffering and plotting. The Alpha King, blinded by his arrogance, would finally face the consequences of his actions.
I overheard the guards exchanging hushed words, their voices carrying the urgency of the situation. "The Alpha King will lead the defense. We must secure the dungeons, ensure no prisoners escape." They spoke to one another.
Escape. The word resonated within me like a sweet melody. I had bided my time, endured the torment of this wretched cell, and now, the chaos outside was my ticket to freedom. The guards stationed near my cell were oblivious to the twisted satisfaction that played on my lips.
The memories of the pain he had inflicted upon me flashed before my eyes. The days of torment, the humiliation, and the abandonment. The Alpha King, the man whoi had sacrificed everything for, had left me in this dungeon to rot, a fate I refused to accept. Resentment had festered within me, growing into an insurmountable force that fueled my every breath. I chuckled darkly, pulling at my hair as a grin broke on my lips. Fate had finally caught up with the Alpha King. The very kingdom he ruled was now under siege, and soon everything would come crashing down like a pack of cards.
I traced the scars on my wrists, remnants of the chains that had bound me for far too long. The metal against my skin was a cruel reminder of the suffering I had endured for him. But today, the tide had turned. Today, I would witness his downfall, revel in the chaos that consumed his kingdom.
My accomplice, a shadow in the periphery, would soon arrive to liberate me from this damned place. The plan we had meticulously crafted was unfolding perfectly. The chaos outside was a distraction, a shield that masked my impending escape. I sat back on the ground, feeling immensely pleased with myself when I heard the groan of the dungeon door opening, and a figure walked in, their hurried footsteps indicating that they were in a rush.
It was none other than Evelyn, and she looked like she was here to see me as she stood in front of my cell, her eyes blazing as she glared at me. "You're behind this, aren't you!?" She seethed through gritted teeth, her wolf aura intimidating. I just cocked my head to the side, looking past her as if she wasn't even there.
"I'm talking to you, Morticia! You know something about this attack, don't you!? You said it yourself!" She screamed, apparently loosing her cool.
"What if I did? What are you going to do about it? You're nothing but a useless princess who was turned to a slave by the alpha king. There's not a single thing you can do to me except authorized by the Alpha king who, for a moment aren't sure is going to return from the battleground alive."
Evelyn's mouth fell open as she stared at me, shocked by my words. "Morticia... How could you!? How could you do a thing like this to the kingdom! How could you betray the Alpha king!?" She yelled at me.
"He betrayed me first!" I snarled back, rising to my feet. Giving her a sardonic smile, I replied even more quietly this time. "I'm only giving him a taste of his own medicine. Does it taste good?" I taunted, inching my face closer to her.
Evelyn reached into the cell and slapped me, my head swinging to the side, my cheeks stinging. "You're going to pay for this! I'll make sure you do. I swear on my sister's grave that you will pay for what you have done." She spat at my face. I only laughed, staring at the pitiful look on her face.
"While you're at it, why don't you pray for the Alpha King to come back alive? He really needs it." Ignoring the fire in her eyes, I walked closer to her. "I told you, didn't I? A disaster will be coming that even you will be powerless to stop. This time around, you'll be completely doomed." I reminded her and watched with satisfaction as all the colored drained from her face. She opened her mouth to speak but no words would come out of it so she snapped it shut. I smiled, satisfied that she was lost for words.
"If you're done, you should leave." I threw at her as I turned around. "I'm tired of seeing your ugly face." I said and sat back on the ground, turning my back at her.
I didn't hear anything for a long time, but afterwards the sounds of footsteps receding and the iron door closing told me she had walked out of the dungeons, leaving me alone once again. A tear threatened to roll down my eyes but I quickly cleaned it off, gritting my teeth as I glared at the darkness before me with bitter anger. In the darkness of the dungeon, I whispered to myself, "Finally, my revenge will be complete."
They deserve everything that's coming to them. Every. Single. Thing.
