Chapter 21 Wrong

Chapter 21 Wrong
Chapter 21: Scarlett

Asher’s eyes stared at me like a predator stalking a prey it had in its trap. My words were irrelevant. There was nothing I could do in front of this bloodthirsty man than to comply.

My trembling hands slowly reached for the strap on my gown, and I slowly slid them off my shoulders.

His room was very cold, the cold air sprouted goosebumps on my skin. Even then, he still stared at me waiting.

My heart cracked as tears welled up my eyes, but I refused to say a word. I didn't want to be harmed by him.

I slid the second strap off my shoulder and the gown fell to my legs. The only clothes I had on were my pant and a singlet.

His eyes went down to my legs. He slowly blinked as they stopped at my thighs, right between my legs, and he stared at my eyes.

"Remove everything." His voice carried so much authority, my already cracking heart, shattered.

A tear fell down my left eye as I complied. I removed the singlet slowly, which caught the strap on my ponytail. My hair fell at the sides as the strap came undone. Finally, I dropped it on the floor, and he took a step closer.

Asher started going around in circles, his eyes torturing me as he stared at my body. Scenarios of what this man was going to do to me played out in my head.

I didn't expect to leave this place unscathed. He was going to hit me as before.

Seeing Axel had him in a foul mood and I was always on the receiving end of that mood. Whatever had happened there, he was going to unleash his rage at me.

He suddenly appeared in front of me and squeezed his face. His eyes went to my stomach and a light frown appeared on his face.

"Are you pregnant?" His question echoed, going as far to the window and coming back to my ears.

"N—no," I stuttered. I never expected him to ask so soon.

"Why?" The single question floated in the air and my life depended on my answer.

I clenched my fists and tried forming words, but my jaws were frozen still.

"Woman, reply when I ask you a question!" He grabbed my jaw, and I whimpered. "Now, why aren't you pregnant?"

"I don't know!" I whimpered.

He hissed and pushed me to the floor. "I will teach you a lesson!" He raised his hands to hit me as always.

I flinched and shut my eyes. My hands shot up on its own to protect me.

My physical torture had begun, and there was no one to save me… But as I waited for the impact, it never came.

There was no contact.

I wondered what he was doing and opened my eyes slowly. Through the gaps between my fingers, I saw him holding back his hand with a look I hadn't seen in a while.

He was glaring at me, but it was different this time. There was a different emotion in his eyes, there was some type of light as if he was having an inner conflict.

I thought for a second, his wolf, his real feelings were there staring at me. And maybe I was right because slowly, he lowered his hand.

His eyes washed over my body. The anger he had earlier was gone and it was now replaced by desire.

He immediately went down on me and grabbed me by the back of my neck. Before I understood what was going on, his lips landed on mine.

He was kissing me!

My body froze and I found myself melting in his arms as he consumed my lips with feral desire.

Need slowly coursed through me and the hands I should have been using to push him away suddenly pulled him towards me.

Despite everything, my rebellious body I wanted more of him.

As soon as my hands brushed the back of his head in need, he jerked away like he had woken from a nightmare, the look of confusion heavy in his eyes.

“Asher…” A soft shameless moan escaped my lips…

He looked away, avoiding my eyes as I laid on the floor, staring back at him.

"Leave!" He grunted. His hard member betraying his words.

I looked back in confusion as I sat up. What was this? What part of Asher was I seeing?

“Get out!” He roared and I jerked back to reality.

I stood up immediately and wore my gown shaking. He stood at the window with his back to me and said not a word even as I dressed. I slowly got out of his room, and he slammed the door behind me.

The guards in the corridor avoided my gaze and stared into space, but I could sense the worry they had for me.

As soon as I got to my room, I closed the door, and slowly went down on the ground and cried my eyes out.

I didn't even understand Asher anymore.

Sometimes, he behaved like the old Asher, the one I fell in love with. And other times he was trying to murder me. It confused me. His feelings, his behaviour… everything.

I never knew what was going on in his head. Maybe he needed my help and not my hatred…

I started doubting my plans to stop him, because of what I saw today. I started hoping he would change—

"Nonsense." I said it out loud, refusing my own thoughts.

A man fuelled by an insatiable thirst for vengeance and power would never change. Lycans were like that.

—I had better chances convincing my wolf to accept Luciano than this.

As his name came into mind, I sprung to my feet. Luciano. I had to see him, he had to help me with Bee.

But as my legs turned to the door, I stopped. It was already too late and going to find Luciano now would only create more problems. The last thing I needed now was to get another innocent person punished.

I slowly walked to bed instead and forced my eyes closed.

My body was worn out, exhausted from the emotional stress of the day.

By morning, I was pulled to consciousness by a distant sound.

It was a carpenter working on wood with a hammer. But it sounded a little different…

It sounded more like a fist on a plank of wood, and it kept on getting louder—

I jerked out of bed as the loud bang suddenly came from my door. My eyes were heavy from lack of proper slep but the urgent knocks made me rush to the door.

"My Queen! Please wake up!"

I recognized that voice. It was Lydia, one of the maids from the kitchen.

I frowned and unlocked the door as fast as I could. Lydia darted into the room before I could say anything.

"Lydia—what is—" I stopped when I saw tears in her eyes. She was shaking like twig in heavy wind.

"My Queen, something bad has happened!" She cried.

I gently placed my hand on her shoulders and tried again. "Lydia, tell me what happened."

"It's Bee! Bee's dying! He has a fever—oh my goddess, you must do something my Luna!"

My heart shrank. "No!" I turned away from her and threw on the first clothes my hands could reach. "Please lead me there!" I urged Lydia as I pulled the door opened and we both stepped out

She wiped her tears and walked fast in front of me.

I held my hands together as she led me to the cells in the castle. The guards were surprised to see me, but they made no attempt to stop me as I walked in.

“He is in there…”

As she pointed to the cell, I saw Bee laying on the floor in a terrible state. He had been whipped mercilessly and from my position I could tell that his condition was indeed terrible.

"Bee!" I screamed. I turned to the guard. "Open this cell right now!"

The guard looked at me and turned to his partner. He nodded and they opened the cell.

I ran inside and held bee in my hand. He had a very bad fever, and he was almost unresponsive to me. I laid my fingers on his neck and listened to his heartbeat. His pulse was too low.

My heart started racing as panic filled me up, but I knew that this was no time for that.

I steadied my breathing and held Bee arm. "Lydia, get the healer now!"

"I'm afraid we can't allow you to do that. The king ordered us not to allow any treatment to come to him." The guards blocked Lydia's path, and my eyes narrowed.

I was red with anger. "Get me a healer or I will harm myself. Then you will have to explain to your king how it happened! What's wrong with you?!" I shrieked hysterically.

"Whoa, whoa what's going on?!" Luciano suddenly appeared outside the cell.

His eyes fell on Bee and his facial expression narrowed.

"My Lord Beta, the king punished this boy. We can't allow him to have any treatment." The first guard explained.

"It's okay. On my order, allow this young man to be healed. If he dies, we are all in trouble." Luciano said.

Because of the word trouble, the guards were disturbed. They called the cells' healer themselves while I held Bee.

An old man arrived seconds later and snatched Bee from me. "Step aside." He grunted.

"No— what are you doing?" I hissed but Luciano held my arm.

"It's okay, he's healing him."

After running a few procedures on Bee, the healer looked up with a puzzled expression.

"I was informed this boy was human, but that doesn't seem to be the case," the man said, and I frowned.

"What do you mean?" Luciano asked. "Is there a problem?"

"His body is refusing to heal; the medicines and magic arts are not working. His body cells are reacting to the silver whip he was flogged with like a werewolf."

"No, but Bee is a human breed. I'm sure of that!" I interrupted.

The healer shook his head and looked down at Bee. "You are wrong. This boy is a full werewolf... Maybe even more…"
