Chapter 104
Chapter 102
The next morning, Anna walked into the hospital, her backpack slung over her shoulder. She had an early visit planned for Antonio before heading to college. As she approached his room, she could hear the sound of cartoons playing and Antonio's giggles.
Anna smiled, pushing open the door to find Antonio sitting up in bed, watching TV. He grinned when he saw her, and Anna's heart swelled with love since his mom didn't show him love she decided to start loving him like a little brother she never had.
"Hey, Champ!" Anna said, dropping a kiss on Antonio's forehead. "How are you feeling today?"
Antonio shrugged, his eyes still fixed on the TV. "I'm okay, Anna. When can I go home?"
Anna sat down beside him, smoothing out his hair. "Soon, Antonio. The doctor will decide when you're well enough to go home. But you're doing great, and I'm proud of you."
As Anna sat with Antonio in his hospital room, the TV suddenly caught their attention with a breaking news alert. The anchor's serious tone filled the room.
"Breaking news, a shocking revelation has rocked the world of fashion and entertainment. Popular model Maya Roland is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to harm her own son. Details are still emerging, but sources confirm she is currently in custody and could face a lengthy prison sentence."
Antonio's eyes widened as he saw his mother's face on the screen. He gasped, his face paling. "Mommy?" he whispered, his voice trembling.
Anna's eyes darted to Antonio, and she quickly turned off the TV, trying to shield him from the distressing news. "Antonio, it's okay. Let's not watch this right now."
But Antonio was already panicking, his small body shaking with sobs. "Why is Mommy on TV? What's happening?"
Anna pulled Antonio into a tight hug, trying to comfort him. "Shh, baby brother, it's going to be okay. We'll figure this out together."
Anna's mind was racing, though. How did this news leak out? Only a handful of people knew about Maya's situation. She felt a surge of anxiety and worry about what this could mean for their family.
As Antonio continued to cry, Anna held him close, trying to reassure him that everything would be alright. But deep down, she was uncertain about what would happen if Antonio's find out the truth.
She pulled her phone and began to text something since she could make a phone call in order not to arouse suspicion from Antonio.
MM GROUP OF COMPANY
Marcus sat behind his massive mahogany desk, sipping his coffee as he reviewed the day's schedule. His assistant, Victor, knocked on the door before entering.
"Boss, I have some news," Victor said, his expression serious.
Marcus looked up, setting his cup down. "What is it?"
Victor hesitated before speaking. "It's about Maya. The news about her alleged attempt to harm her son has broken out in the media."
Marcus's expression darkened. "How did this happen? I thought we had this contained."
Victor shook his head. "I don't know, but it's all over the news now. Maya's facing serious backlash."
Marcus's eyes narrowed. "Find out who leaked this information. I want to know who is responsible for this breach."
Victor nodded. "I'll get right on it, boss."
After Victor left, Marcus couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching his every move. He glanced around his office, feeling a sense of unease. Was it possible that someone had infiltrated his company?
Marcus's mind began to wander, thinking about all the people who had access to sensitive information. He made a mental note to increase security measures and monitor his team's activities more closely.
“CRASH!!“
Maya's anger boiled over as she hurled the TV remote, shattering the screen. She paced back and forth, her mind racing with thoughts of betrayal. Her eyes flashed with fury as she thought of Anna, the woman she blamed for her downfall.
“You bitch! Anna, so after leaving Marcus for you, you wouldn't let me be.“ Maya screamed.
"You're behind this, aren't you, Anna?" Maya's voice was low and menacing. "You took my lover, my son, and now you've exposed me to the world. You'd think you'd be satisfied, but no, you want more."
Maya's anger gave way to a cold calculation. She began to plot her revenge, her mind working overtime to devise a plan. "You'll pay for what you've done, Anna," she whispered to herself. "I'll make sure you suffer the consequences of your actions."
She swear she would kill anna. She began plotting her revenge.
“Oh my dear anna you won't know when i strike, just be prepared i will put you alive in an increminator to burn you.“ she said as she let out an evil smirk.
HOSPITAL
The afternoon sun cast a warm glow through the hospital room windows as Anna sat with Mrs. Julia and Vera, keeping vigil by Antonio's bedside. Antonio was asleep, his small body exhausted from the emotional turmoil of the past few days. They began talking in hushed conversation, trying to make sense of how the news about Maya's alleged actions had gotten out.
"I don't understand how the media found out," Anna said, her brow furrowed with concern. "The hospital has strict confidentiality policies. Someone must have leaked the story intentionally."
Mrs. Julia's expression was grim. "I think we all know who might have had a motive to do that."
Just as Anna was about to respond, her phone rang, breaking the somber mood in the room. She glanced at the screen and saw Jessica's name flashing. "I'm so sorry, I'll just take this," Anna said, getting up from her chair. "It's about our project at work."
Mrs. Julia nodded understandingly. "Go ahead, dear. We'll keep an eye on Antonio."
Anna smiled and stepped out of the room to answer the call. "Hey, Jess. What's up?"
"Hey, Anna. I'm at the conference center, and I need you to come over ASAP," Jessica said, her voice urgent. "We've got a last-minute issue with the presentation setup, and I need your expertise to fix it."
Anna checked her watch. "Okay, I'll be there in 20 minutes. Which room are you in?"
"Room 304. See you soon," Jessica replied before hanging up.
Anna walked back into the hospital room, grabbing her bag. "I'm so sorry, but I have to run. Jessica needs my help with a project at work. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Mrs. Julia nodded. "We'll be fine here. Go take care of your work, and don't worry about Antonio, also stay safe"
Anna quickly said her goodbyes to Mrs. Julia and Vera, promising to return to the hospital as soon as she could. She glanced at her watch, realizing she was running a bit tight on time. She had asked her driver to pick her up, but he texted her a few minutes later to say he was stuck in traffic and wouldn't make it on time.
With a sigh, Anna decided to hail a cab instead. She stepped out of the hospital and onto the bustling street, raising her hand to flag down a taxi. After a minute or two, a yellow cab pulled up beside her, and she quickly got in.
"Conference center, please," Anna told the driver, settling into the backseat. She pulled out her phone and sent a quick text to her driver, canceling their arrangement and thanking him for letting her know about the traffic.
Anna arrived at the conference center, her heels clicking on the polished floor. She looked around, expecting to see Jessica waiting for her, but there was no sign of her colleague. Anna pulled out her phone and sent a quick text. "Hey, I'm here. Where are you?"
A few seconds later, her phone buzzed with an incoming message. Anna checked the screen and saw that Jessica had replied. "Hey! Sorry, I forgot to tell you – the room number has been changed to 508. I'm already set up there. Come on up!"
Anna nodded to herself, tucking her phone away. She made her way to the elevators and pressed the button for the fifth floor. As the doors slid open, she stepped out into the hallway and followed the signs to Room 508.
Anna arrived at Room 508, but to her surprise, Jessica was nowhere to be found. The room was empty, and the silence seemed oppressive. Anna's instincts began to prick at her, and she felt a growing sense of unease. She quickly pulled out her phone and sent Jessica another text. "Hey, where are you? I'm at Room 508."
When she didn't get a response, Anna's concern deepened. She decided to call Jessica's phone, and to her surprise, she heard the ringing tone coming from somewhere nearby. Anna followed the sound, her heart beating a bit faster. She walked down the hallway, the ringing growing louder with each step.
Finally, she spotted her phone lying on the floor, the screen still lit up with her call. Anna picked it up, feeling a mix of confusion and alarm. As she turned to leave, she sensed a presence behind her. Before she could react, the figure suddenly blocked her way, covering her nose and lips with a small cloth.
A smell hit her nose, and knowing what it was, she held her breath, but it was too late.
The little that got into her made her unconscious.
Anna slowly regained consciousness, her head throbbing with pain. As she opened her eyes, she realized she was in a dimly lit room, her wrists and ankles bound by rope. She looked around, trying to take in her surroundings, and that's when she saw Jessica, similarly tied up next to her.
"Jessica?" Anna whispered, trying to rouse her colleague.
Jessica stirred, her eyes fluttering open. "Anna... oh God, what happened?"
Anna's mind was foggy, but she tried to piece together the events leading up to this moment. "I don't know... I was supposed to meet you at the conference center... and then..."
Before Anna could finish, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a woman, her features obscured by a veil, but her eyes gleamed with an unnerving intensity.
"Hey bitches! Surprise," the woman said, her voice low and husky. "I've been waiting for you."
