CHAPTER 158: OUT OF PLACE.

CHAPTER 158: OUT OF PLACE.

~GREY’S POV~

I passed my wife another glance for the seventh time in one minute. We were on my private jet to Europe and she had fallen asleep the minute we took off. She handled her mother’s departure with grace and I intended to pamper her for the duration of our visit.

Mira mumbled something in her sleep. I chuckled as she reached for me and I snuggled closer to her. She sighed contently in my arms. I stayed on the bed with her for a few more minutes before switching back to the seat by the bed. I had a few things to do and I wanted to be close to my sleeping beauty of a wife. My mother-in-law was fine. That much, I was glad to tell Mira. What I wouldn’t be able to tell her about was the bodyguards I had assigned to her parents.

If the attack on her mother was from an outsider, the guards would step into action should there be a chance of a repeat. And if it was from her father, they would do the same. But I hoped it wasn’t her father. I had been trying to reach my father-in-law. Our call was too brief and the man promised to call later. I didn’t know for sure if Mr Evans had called because I switched off my phone once we got into the jet.

Mira roused from her slumber. She looked out of the small window and I trailed her gaze to the drifting clouds. We would be there in a few more hours. I dropped the files on my lap to the floor. We might be going away for two weeks but it didn’t mean work would also go away. Mira motioned for me to join her. I kicked off my shoes and hopped on the bed.

“Baby,” was all she said.

Her eyes crinkled, she put her emotions on display, showing me how much I meant to her. The thought of my mother taking away her smile made me uneasy. My mother could be a drama queen but she loved all her kids. Mira sat up and pushed her straps down.

“What are you thinking about?”

“You,” I answered. “And how beautiful you are.”

I pushed the straps of her gown even lower and blew a breath over her hard nipples.

“Have you had sex on a jet?” I teased, well aware I was her first of many things. “Has your husband fucked you in his jet yet?”

She laughed. She shook her head as her fingers scrubbed my jaw. “I’ve never even been on a jet before today. But I’ve been on a plane,” she quickly added when I frowned. Sometimes, I forgot that the luxury I had wasn’t common for everyone. “What about you?”

“Have I had sex on a jet?”

She nodded.

I gulped. Mira looked on in anticipation. I grew nervous. “You want the truth?” Her sharp nod made me say, “Just once.”

“With who?”

Taking her hands, I replied, “No one important.”

“Was she very good at it?” She pulled off her gown and lifted herself to my lap. Her breasts bounced on my chest in a teasing motion. “Say something, Grey.”

But I didn’t. I didn’t want to talk about this. Mira nipped on my jaw.

“You have had sex with so many women.”

“Mira,” I warned.

“Were they better than me?”

“I’m not talking about this with you,” I finished.

She folded her arms under her boobs. “Why not?”

Because there was no right answer in this case. No matter how diplomatic my answers might be, she would find a way to turn it around. I knew that much about women. Mira pushed my legs apart and knelt between my legs. Her eyes narrowed with interest or so I hoped. I didn’t need her to be upset with me a few minutes to meeting my mother.

“Were they better?”

“No,” I finally answered. She pinched me and I reasserted my stance. “No, they weren’t, Mira. And it’s from such a long time ago that I don’t even remember it anymore. You’re the one I love. You’re the one I married. Shouldn’t that be all that matters right now?”

That worked. Her smile was small at first, then it took over her lips. “Did it bother you that I was a virgin?”

“I would have been more bothered if you weren’t.” my wife’s brows jerked up. She placed her arms on my shoulders. “Not like you are not pretty or can’t attract men.” She hummed and at a loss for words, I sighed. “I just wanted to be your first in almost everything, that’s what I’m trying to say. Your first sex, real love…”

She kissed the rest of my words and I lowered her to the bed, where we made sweet love and cuddled for the entirety of the flight. Mira fell asleep in my arms again. I couldn’t have been more fulfilled watching her chest rise and fall, the relaxed pout of her lips.

The pilot’s voice came on later. I looked outside and saw familiar buildings. We were almost here. A thrill shot through me. My mother would be excited to see me but what about Mira? My youngest sister, Angel was home. She could make it bearable for my wife. In a few more minutes, we were on the ground. I shook Mira awake. She looked around for some minutes before her eyes settled on me. I helped her into her gown, smoothening the wrinkles with my hands. My mother tended to judge people by their appearance.

Mira winced and closed her eyes. She pressed the back of her palm to her forehead and I was beside her in a second.

“Baby, what is it? Mira, are you fine?”

Her eyes peeled open. “Yeah. Just a little headache.”

“I’ll have the maids get you something once we get home.” I hugged her to my chest and we exited the jet.

Cool air hit my face, I took a satisfying sniff and walked down the short stairs. London smelt different.

“Welcome to my city.”

Mira looked up. “I thought California was your city.”

“London was my home for a long time. My first love.”

Her arms snuck around my waist as I started walking to the car parked a few metres from my jet. This was a private tarmac in the Anderson’s airport, I didn’t have to worry about people seeing me carry my wife.

“If you could live here, would you?” Mira asked.

“Nope,” I said without thinking.

If I worked here, my mother would have done everything possible to make me move into our family mansion.

“I like the US.”

“Me too,” she agreed.

We fell into silence that was only broken by my heavy footsteps. We neared the car and the chauffeur opened the door of the backseat for us. The inside of the car was warm, as warm as I felt to have Mira in my arms. We waited for our luggage to arrive and in some seconds, the car was on the move.

My mother was aware we were coming but I didn’t want to alert her till both of us had gotten the chance to rest. A smile touched my lips when the heavy, black gates of my family’s mansion came to view. Mira shifted in my arms and I pointed to it.

“I grew up here,” I muttered.

A small gasp left my lips. I hadn’t thought about how extravagant my lifestyle was until I had to leave home and mingle with people of lower class. Mira turned to me with eyes wide open in amazement.

“Your family is rich, rich,” she commented.

I laughed. She didn’t say it like she was interested in my money. She said it like she couldn’t believe people could be this rich to live in a place like this. The house was on a land double the size of a football field. She moved closer to the window to stare in amazement as the car drove into the house.

There was a large fountain at the centre. Rows of flowers lined some parts of the tall building. If I walked to the right, I would see the swimming pool. And to the left, the small field with our treehouse.

“Wow,” Mira said when the car finally stopped. She turned to me, almost shy. “I feel out of place, Grey.”

“No, none of that, baby.” I curled a finger under her jaw to force her eyes on me. She gulped but she didn’t look away. “My money is your money, Mira.”

“I don’t have much but my money is your money too.”

We sealed our statement with a kiss. I opened the door and helped Mira out. H
My plan was simple: sneak into the house and come down later for dinner. But that plan went out the window when the entrance door was thrown open and my mother walked out. She stopped at the stairs.

“Is that… is that your mum?” I nodded as we rounded the car. “Wow. She looks so powerful, just like you, Grey.” Not only powerful but also intimidating I thought, “And she looks prettier in person.” she added.

“You can tell her that,” I whispered as my mother covered the distance.

My eyes stared into similar ones, I released Mira to hug my mother and a wave of nostalgia crashed over me.

“Mum. I missed you.”

My mother pinched my heeks. “I missed you too, my boy.”

I laughed. It didn’t matter how old I was, she would always refer to me as her boy. I took my mother’s hand and walked her to the side of the car where Mira was standing.

My mother looked right through Mira and then back at me . “Son, where’s your wife?”
