The book
The book
I did my best to convey the hopelessness of our situation and the desperation for assistance. I thought that everything I conveyed would be enough so I waited for something to happen and...¿Nothing? I felt nothing! Are you kidding me right now! My eyes snapped open and I was sure that my face was filled with rage and as crazy as it sounds I was ready to shout at my hideous bracelet.
"you useless enchanted forest! Getting me in trouble back there wasn't enough wasn't it!? You and that pretentious quee- wait what's this!... ??"
All around me were beautiful plants and flowers making my eyes shine with delight not because of their beauty. No I didn't care about that because I'm not a flower person. It's their value that is almost driving me crazy. I jumped and very slowly I collected them with atmost care and then placed them in my hideous bracelet. It's very important to pick Magical ingredients carefully especially for the rare and valuable ones.
As I was busy with that I suddenly stepped on something hard. I lowered my eyes expecting to see a rock but I gasped, surprised as there was no rock. Hard as a rock, yes but it was actually a big book with a brown cover, upon looking at it and trying to read what was on the cover there were ancient looking symbols. I should worry about where it came from but my body didn't care about that. I quickly picked it up expecting it to be heavy but it was not, it was light. Almost as though it would disappear, I unconsciously held it tighter . I could feel the magic within it and it made me feel excited because I instinctively knew that this book has all the answers.
Although I couldn't suppress the excitement I was also aware that I shouldn't have too much expectations. Even if it's a little, I could get disappointed and that'll still be a blow. Afterall It only takes a small needle to burst a balloon. Now that I got something out of my trip I think it's time I return to the pack. I placed the book in my bracelet while trying very hard to calm my excitement down...
It didn't take long for Vale to bring us back to the pack, so far I haven't said a word to him and he hasn't said a word to me. Which is great, I don't think I have the right words to explain what I was doing and I also don't know where this book came from. Although it has ancient symbols it actually looks brand new, there's not a single speck of dust. I marched straight to the basement not caring that I shut the door on Vale's face.
I finally opened the book after I sat on a chair and placed the book on a small table they got for me. The pages were green and with the lines they had I almost mistaken them as leaves. I don't think it's possible for anything to be written on leaves. On the first page there was a paragraph that I...could actually read and that is what surprised me and freaked me out. How is it possible that I can understand a paragraph filled with complex looking symbols. Symbols I've never seen before yet somehow I could understand them.
\[ A Namig is born, a friend of both nature and man bringing hope so that balance shall be seen. A life of struggle and endless obstacles, yes but overcoming each and every one of them is a reward of power to protect its happiness.
A Namig appears once in hundred years as its birth takes a toll on nature it self. On rare occasions a Namig appears when the world and many races cries of its help.
A Namig has to expect unimaginable challenges, this book shall assist with some of your Namig's magical powers.
Note that what is in this book is whats recorded by past Namigs, what they found in their lifetime. This should not limit a born Namig to believing that this is all a Namig can do. The possibilities are endless and so as I great the new Namig I also wish it luck and wisdom on its journey.\]
"...?!!"
"I suppose what I'm seeing is different from what you're seeing"
"ahhh!!"
What the hell is wrong with Vale! I thought I slammed the door on his face so how come he is here. He has the auducity to sneak up on me, stand so closely and talk near my ear then look at me like I'm crazy for screaming.
"what the hell are you doing sneaking up on me and what do you mean by saying what you're seeing is different from what I'm seeing?"
"I didn't sneak up on you, I came in because I couldn't let you go through something that appeared out of nowhere alone. We cannot afford to have you get hurt especially by the unknown"
Well that only managed to make me speechless for a few seconds but I didn't care too much about. I want him to explain what he said about seeing things differently.
"you're looking at it as though it's the shiniest thing in the world..."
It's not?
"I'm serving an old worn out book whose pages are filled with cobwebs, you seem to be able to read it but I'm seeing a blank cover book with blank pages. No I think I'm under explaining... That... Thing that you're holding looks so old that I fear it will wither to dust in any minute now. No in any seconds"
Wait really? I looked down at the beautiful book and back to his visibly disgusted expression that made it hard to not believe him. Is it really as he says, if so then that means that what I'm seeing is an illusion? No it feels too real and this is going to sound cringe but I'm gonna say it anyway. It feels like I was meant to read this book, I feel a connection one that I think cannot be faked. Like destiny or fate is screaming at me.
So this means it's only me, a Namig? Who can read this book. What even is a Namig and am I really one? A being that only appears once in a hundred years.
