Chapter 106. Betrayed

***106\. Betrayed***

***Third Person POV***

“I’m pregnant!” Helen declared, her voice ringing with feigned excitement.

Sabrina’s stomach dropped. She snatched the paper from Helen’s hand, her eyes scanning the document. Her breath hitched as she saw the words clearly implicating Travis as the father.

“Don’t fall for her act,” Travis’s voice came through her earpiece. “Stay composed. Pretend to be upset—like you’re about to leave me.”

Sabrina swallowed hard, her mind racing. Upset? That’s easy enough. Furious, more like it. She clenched her fists and lifted her gaze to meet Helen’s smug expression, determined not to let her win.

Sabrina tried to sound shocked as she exclaimed, "What? No way! That’s not even possible!"

Helen’s smirk deepened. "Did you ever stop to think where he disappeared to every night?" She thrust the papers closer to Sabrina. "Here’s your proof. See for yourself."

Sabrina’s gaze shifted to Travis, her expression a mixture of anger and disbelief. "So, this is the truth?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Without waiting for his response, she greeted him with a firm, resounding slap. "How could you deceive me like this? You married me while planning to have a child with her?" Sabrina yelled, her voice shaking with fury.

Travis tried to stammer out an excuse, "Sabrina, listen, it’s not—"

"I don’t want to hear any more of your lies!" she interrupted, her voice firm. "This is over between us. I want the divorce papers on my desk by tomorrow, or I’ll leave and never look back."

With that, she stormed out, brushing past Helen, her words muttered just loud enough, "I’m collecting my things and leaving this place for good."

The door slammed shut behind her, and Travis exhaled a long breath, rubbing his cheek. "Damn," he muttered. "That slap stung."

From the hallway, Sabrina’s voice echoed, tinged with sarcasm. "You deserved it."

Travis turned to face Helen, a faint smirk crossing his lips. "Wow, I didn’t realize you were so good at plotting," he said dryly.

Helen grinned, folding her arms. "Well, what can I say? We pulled it off."

Travis narrowed his eyes, his tone hardening. "So, where exactly did you get those fake reports?"

Helen raised an eyebrow. "Who said they were fake?"

Travis blinked, momentarily stunned. His confusion deepened as he studied her expression. "What do you mean?"

Helen’s grin grew wider, and her voice was saccharine as she replied, "I mean exactly what I said. I’m really pregnant, baby. We’re having a child together."

From her hiding spot, Sabrina heard everything, her eyes narrowing at the exchange.

Travis frowned, his jaw tightening. "What do you mean by we?"

Helen stepped closer, cupping his face with both hands. "You and me, of course. Wynter’s going to have a sibling."

Travis swatted her hands away, shaking his head vehemently. "That’s not happening, Helen. You and I both know nothing ever happened between us."

Helen’s smile didn’t waver. "Oh, really? Don’t you remember that night you got drunk and woke up in my bed the next morning?"

Travis clenched his fists. "You told me it was because I passed out!"

Helen leaned in closer, her tone turning smug. "You did, but everything else still happened. Don’t act surprised, sweetheart."

The weight of her words hung heavy in the air. For a brief moment, Travis faltered, his expression uncertain, and that flicker of hesitation was all Sabrina needed to feel her heart sink. Tears welled up in her eyes as Helen’s claim settled over her like a storm cloud.

Trying to regain control of the situation, Travis forced a smile and shifted his tone. "Oh, I see. Well, in that case," he said smoothly, "does this mean I get my company back now that Sabrina’s out of the way?"

He plastered on a facade of enthusiasm, pretending to be thrilled at Helen’s revelation, all while his mind raced to uncover the truth.

"So, you actually slept with her, and now she's carrying your child?" Sabrina’s voice cracked as she asked, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Travis hesitated. He wanted to explain, to deny it, but Helen stood there, smirking, and he knew anything he said would only worsen the situation.

"I trusted you, Travis, and you betrayed me... again." Sabrina’s voice broke, the pain evident. He could hear her soft sniffling. "Goodbye, Travis."

"No, wait, Sabrina, don't!" Travis pleaded, his voice desperate.

From the corner of his eye, he saw her retreating figure, her steps quick and determined.

"Sab, please!" he called out once more, his voice growing fainter through the Bluetooth device.

The roar of her car’s engine was the only response, and soon she was gone.

_____________

Helen’s laughter rang out behind him, cutting through the tense silence. "Oh, honey, I’ve got another surprise for you."

Travis spun on his heels, his expression dark. "What are you talking about now?"

Helen’s grin widened, her voice dripping with mockery. "For the past two months, someone’s been begging to buy my shares—and my relatives’—in your company. They’re even offering triple the current market value!" She burst into laughter as if it were the best joke she’d ever told.

Travis froze. Her words hit like a freight train. "What did you say?" His voice was dangerously low. "Don’t tell me you sold my company to someone else."

Helen’s eyes sparkled with amusement. "How could I pass up such an opportunity?" she purred.

Travis’s fists clenched at his sides. "You… sold my company?"

Helen didn’t flinch. Instead, she continued, "Oh, don’t be so dramatic. Your shares are still there, and you’ll still be an investor, just like before." She smiled like she’d just handed him a gift.

"You... sold everyone else’s shares?" His voice rose, trembling with rage.

Helen gave an exaggerated shrug, as if his anger was nothing more than an inconvenience. "Don’t worry, sweetie. I’ll give you ten percent of the total sale. Think of it as a favor," she added with mock sweetness. "Didn’t I promise you that once Sabrina was out of the picture, I’d keep my word?"

The dam broke. "Ten percent?!" Travis snarled. "Bitch, you can shove that down your throat!"

His vision blurred with rage, and he saw nothing but red. Before he realized it, his hands were around Helen’s throat, squeezing with the intention to silence her forever.

Helen’s smug grin quickly morphed into panic as she clawed at his arms, gasping for air.

Suddenly, hands grabbed at Travis, pulling him away as people rushed into the room. His grip was pried free, but his fury remained unchecked.

"Sab? Sab?" he shouted into his earpiece, his voice frantic.

No answer.

Pulling out his phone, he saw that Sabrina had hung up minutes ago.

Standing in the middle of the road, he gripped his hair in frustration, his breaths ragged. "Sabrina, come back," he muttered under his breath, the realization of his actions sinking in. But the only sound accompanying him was the distant hum of cars and the chaos in his mind.
