Chapter 6
“Well, your friends can come with you. Secondly, you cannot get married right now since you are the Royal blood Adam must petition for your hand in marriage even though he is your true mate. There happen to be others who want your hand so there will be a competition for your hand in marriage. As for your business, you will have to find someone to take care of it for you. There is no time to waste, we need to be on our way. Plus, Adam needs to get his petition in right away. The competition will be held very soon now that you are of age." Dusty explain in a hurry.

“Adam, what do you think about all this? Matter of fact what did the rest of you think of this? Even if I do decide to do this I will need a few days to get things gathered but first I need to talk it over with everyone." Kenzie proclaimed. 

“Kenzie you have to do this you need to be sure of what they are saying. I think I speak for all of us that we will follow you anywhere you decide to go. Now, one thing that I do have a problem with is having to petition to marry my true mate. And what kind of competition would there be?" Adam asked with some anger in her voice and a look that could kill on his face.

“We will talk about the competition when the time comes. Please talk among yourselves and make the right decision. I can only give you a couple of days before we must go. If you choose not to go at this time I will leave instructions on how you can get a hold of me. The others and I will have to come back and get you if you do not come within that time frame. I do not want to have to force you to come." Scott said with authority.

“Kenzie let us go talk with others in private. We can go over to my house and we can all talk there privately with no interruptions." Stated Adam.

Kenzie followed Adam with the others in tow. Once they got into Adam's house they all gathered in the living room. Everyone sat down but Kenzie she was pacing the floor.

“How can we believe anything they say? They brought no proof with them. Why would they all suddenly turn up now and claim that they are my grandparents? None of this is making any sense to me." Kenzie was shouting and getting all worked up.

“Well, maybe the only way to find the answer is to follow them to Italy. It seems to me that is at least where we need to start. We also may find out more about why the hunters are wanting you so much as well. Don’t you think so Adam?" Trent asked sounding so sleepy.

“In some ways, I think you are right Trent. I am not quite sure if I trust them all. In a lot of ways, I must agree with Kenzie as well why turn now? We just have way too many questions and not enough answers. Italy could be a good place to start getting answers and we at least will be able to keep an eye on them." Adam was just getting worried and scared that they could be walking into a trap with all of this.

“Well, I guess we will take a vote to see if we go to Italy or we stay here and go on like we always have. I think it is the only way to do this right." Sam said with some calm to his voice.

Kenzie got out some paper and tore it into pieces for each to write their vote on. They will either vote Italy or stay on a piece of paper. Then fold the paper up and throw it in a bowl so the vote can be counted. They all agreed with no matter the outcome they would do it together. They all figured they started this together it might as well, end it altogether.

"I will count the votes since this started because of me. That we are only doing this because something else was thrown our way because of me. I do hate to ask you all to be a part of this any more than you already are. So, if you want to back away I would understand." Kenzie said it all from her heart.

Kenzie grabbed the bowl with everybody's vote and walked to the dining room table. She counted the votes and got 10 votes to go to Italy and three to stay. She walked back into the living room to let everyone know the outcome.

“We have 10 to go and three to stay. So, looks like we’re going to Italy to get some answers. Adam would you be so kind as to let the council know. Why I find someone to watch over the Café and to cover everyone shifts." Kenzie tried to pull herself together about what she could be brought to all the ones that she loves.

“Kenzie hang on a second. I want to address something that you said before you left to count the votes. I think I can speak for all or at least most of the group even though I have not been a part of it long. None of us would back away from this since you have brought so much to all our lives. We stand with you through it all, because you are a big part of all of our lives.” Katie said with tears in her eyes when she walked up to Kenzie and gave her a hug.

“Thank you, Katie, it means a lot that you said it. I just wanted you all to have a choice.” Kenzie hugged her back, then walked off to take care of the café. 

“Yes Kenzie, I will go now and take care of it. I will let them know that you are making arrangements for your Café and be back over to talk to them shortly." Adam said as he walked out the door.

Adam walked over to Kenzie’s house to talk with the supernatural councilmen. Kenzie was trying to get a hold of Casey and a few others about taking care of the Café while she will be gone for a few weeks. Once that was all taken care of Kenzie and the others walked back over to her house to have their talk with the councilmen. Kenzie wanted to get all this taken care of as soon as possible so she could get on with her life. She didn’t trust the councilmen, it all just seems to be so surreal to her. This was like a dream-like state and she couldn’t wake up and she just wanted this to be over. Kenzie and the others arrived at her house and just walked through the door when they heard shouting coming from the living room. 

“What the hell is going on here? Why are you two yelling at each other?” Kenzie demanded to know. She looks over to see Adam laughing his ass off over the drama taking place in her living room. They all stopped and looked towards Kenzie when they heard her yelling.

They all had this dumb look on their face, but none wanted to come forward to tell her what was going on. Adam was trying to hold his laughter in but was failing miserably.  Kenzie just glared at them all and waited to see who would come forth to tell her what was going on. Finally, Dusty stepped forward to talk to her.

“Kenzie please don’t get mad, but we were fighting over your future. I want the completion to take place where Scott thinks you should be allowed to go ahead and marry your mate, but I am not so sure that he is your mate since you have never met anyone else. I think you need to see what else is out there. Do you have any proof that he is your true mate?” Dusty tried to explain without hurting his granddaughter.

“Look Dusty, I know you mean well and all, but Adam is my true mate and I will marry him no matter what. I don’t care about this competition since I was not raised in your customs. I have dreamed of Adam and I feel the pull to him like no other. When I touch him I feel complete? You say I’m royal and all, but that doesn’t matter to me. Times change and it’s time you change with it. If you think I am going to let you take Adam away from me because of your old beliefs, then you better think again.” Calmly Kenzie said all this while walking over to Adam and sitting beside him and kissing his lips.

“Kenzie I can understand what you are saying but it is just not done that way. You have to stick to the old ways.” Dusty pleaded.

“No, I don’t. I will do as I see fit. You have no say since I was not raised with you or any of you. You left me to be raised by monsters, so you lose all right to have a say in my life. If you can’t stand with my choice, then you can leave and never return, and I will go right now and mate with Adam without a wedding ceremony. Have I made myself clear in this matter?” Kenzie shouted at Dusty and the rest of the councilmen.

“Kenzie, we understand and will stand by you. We don’t want to lose you now that we have you back into our lives. You are all we have left of our children. Please forgive us and still come with us to learn about who you are.” Scott interjected.

Kenzie looked at Scott and nodded her head at him. Then looked to her friend to give them a silent message to keep an eye on them closely. Then she looked at Scott jester for him to take a seat. When he sat the rest followed suit.

“We all have agreed to go with you to Italy, but know this Adam is mine I will marry him no matter what. That is non-negotiable. We also think it is a good place to start in finding out why the hunters seem to want me so damn much. So, when do we leave?” Kenzie said as calmly as she could without biting anyone’s head off. 

“The jet is standing by just waiting to arrive, so we can take off,” Shane told everyone then sat back down and didn’t talk again.

“It seems we can leave now if everyone is packed and ready to go or we can wait till you are packed up and ready and we can meet you at the airport in an hour,” Scot said with some excitement.

“Well, we will need to get packed up and get some small things done first. Then we can meet you at the airport in an hour.” Kenzie answered with a small smile on her face.

Everyone left to go do their thing, so they could get ready to leave for Italy. No one was sure what to expect or how to pack for that. They were all on edge and trying to make sure that they don’t forget anything. The time came when they all had to meet the council at the airport. Everyone was quiet on the way there. When they arrived, they were all shocked at seeing the jet. It was no normal size jet, it was much bigger.  They all walked toward the jet and was met by Stacy the witch councilwoman.

“I know we have yet to really meet, but I would like to welcome you all. My name is Stacy and I am a witch, I just wanted to make sure you all understood that and to let you know that we are here to help not cause you more problems. They seem to think I am more of a level head person than the rest of them. So that is why I am meeting you before the others. Kenzie you will need to make sure you stay close to Adam and the rest stay close to your mates. We don’t know who all will be there to meet us when we land. Welcome aboard the night flight.” Stacy said with a smile on her face and showed them onto the jet. 

They all followed her onto the jet as they each looked at each other before they did so. They all wondered what she meant about who would be there when they all landed in Italy. When they boarded the jet saw the rest of the council in their seats waiting for them to take theirs. Kenzie and Adam took seats next to Scott and Dusty. The others set around close by in case Kenzie or Adam may need them for any reason. Once everyone was seated the jet started to take off. Once they were up in the air Kenzie looked at Dusty.

“Dusty I must know why you are so sure that Adam couldn’t be my mate? Or could there be another reason why you don’t wait for him to be?” Kenzie asked with confusion in her voice.

“It’s not that I don’t want him to be, I find it hard to believe that you have found your one true mate just like that. It’s hard for most shifters to find their true mate and some never do. So, I have years of knowing that it is unlikely that he is your true mate. Yes, you tell me you show signs of him being your true mate, but he could really be your second runners up and not the first. You see you can have two, but only one will be a lot stronger feeling than the runners up. It is for good reason, in case something was to happen to your true mate your runners up can still claim you and provide for you. You won’t have a strong connection as with the first, but it will be there. I just want you to be sure that is all my dear.” Dusty tried to make her see that he was just trying to look out for her not hurt her.

“I can see your point, Dusty. I just know my heart and what it is telling me. So, I am asking you to trust me that Adam is my one and only.”

“I guess I have no choice in the matter.” He looked off with sadness in his eyes.

No one said anything after that. Everyone was doing a lot of thinking and trying to figure out their next move. They have been in the air for a few hours when Adam had a question for Scott.

“Scott if you care for her so much why are you just now trying to come for her?” Adam asked.
