Chapter 104 CHAPTER 104
“Unhand me this minute!” I snapped, pouring every ounce of frustration I felt today out.
“I won't. In fact, I'll take it the extra mile Alira, I'll ask you to be my woman one more time and you'll say yes, follow me to the back of the training pool and I'll make you with my scale!”
“What's going on?” Erin asked, seeing the hostile grip Asher had on me.
It was as if he were somebody else entirely.
“Apparently Mr I don't understand what no means here thinks he can force me into becoming his woman,” I said with a dry laugh.
“Force? I don't have to force anything bitch, you are the one that should be begging me to help you!”
“Well I'm not begging you for that, I'm begging you instead to let me go. I have a long evening ahead of me, I started this school six months later than everyone else, I don't have the time for jokes.”
“But I'm not joking baby girl,” he changed instantly to the warm, attempting to be charming personality I was used to, “I want to shield you from all of this. No one will touch you and if you want to, you can drop out of the school.”
“Asher are you nuts?”
“Go away Erin, how many times will I tell you I'm not interested in you? There's absolutely nothing interesting about you!”
“Hey! You dare not speak to my friend that way or I'll give you a Kovar special!” I snapped.
“What?”
“Ask him why he's been avoiding me all this while, go ahead and ask him or maybe don't, just say one crappy word to Erin again and you'll find out!”
“Leave Erin aside, I want you, how about that?”
“Leave me the fuck alone, you weasel!”
“What? Do you know what you're rejecting? You're all alone here, look around you! No one in this world knows you, you don't have allies, anyone who decides to protect you is just endangering themselves. You're a weakling! I'm doing you a fucking favour so stop trying to be such a prude and say yes. And it comes with a special wood that you definitely have been in need of,” he finished, palming his shorts.
Disgust curled around my throat like vomit and I took more steps away from the male.
“What?”
“You've been in this Academy longer than three months and no one knows what you feel like. I know it's hard when you're in a new place. Let me help–”
I pushed him off the road violently and aggressively, finally getting the air I was desperate for.
Erin ran behind me.
“You'll come back begging!” Asher yelled behind me but I wasn't going to pay him one more lick of attention.
My mood was ruined by the whole thing but the moment I was in fresh training clothes and repacked my hair, my mind automatically cleared up.
“Wait, where are you going?” Mira asked, walking into the room.
“I have more training to do,” I replied as sadly as possible.
She didn't buy it.
“You bathed, changed into new clothes for another training session?”
“Don't embarrass the girl Mira, if you had private classes with the handsome halfling, you'd want to look your best too,” Akua replied, giggling.
“I don't even have time for you all,” I threw back, rushing out to avoid this getting any worse.
“Enjoy yourself, girl!” Akua yelled behind me but I ran away from their laughter, a smile struggling to remain on my face.
Okay, maybe I like him a bit, and this isn't because of the whole leech situation.
I have decided to delete that memory of him and Principal Draco from my mind, afterall, the Principal has done the same.
But Master Florian had a strange way of caring for me.
Everyone else was trying to pamper me and cuddle me into complacency, promising safety that can only come after I've gotten in danger.
But he's trying to make me a threat, not the one always in danger and I like that.
Although it comes with a lot of pain, I do miss our usual journey to the healing house, bickering about nothing while my body struggled to heal itself.
When I got to the usual training field, he was already there, doing some sort of yoga dance.
“Your food is there, eat up before we begin.”
“Before?” I questioned, “Shouldn't it be after?”
“I'm your teacher, am I not?”
“Yes sir but –”
“But nothing. Eat.”
“Jeez, what crawled up your ass and died?” I muttered under my breath, heading to the food bed dropped on a pavement.
I bent down to pick it, then froze when I felt him behind my back.
“What did you say?” He asked, his voice stern.
I rolled my eyes and got up, my ass rubbing against him unintentionally.
A spark ran through me but I shook it off.
“I'll eat and we can begin training sir,” I replied with a strained smile.
“That's what I thought,” he threw back and began walking away
“But seriously sir,” I began before I could stop myself, “what crawled up your ass and died?”
Don't ask me, I don't know why I did that.
He's just unusually… harsh today and I don't like it.
In fact, even while I was in the healing pool, I could feel that weird energy radiating from him and I don't know what to make of it.
“Watch your language,” he breathed and went back to his position.
At first, I endured the silence, watching him move like a beautiful snake from one position to the other, with that gray aura surrounding him.
Unable to take it anymore, I dropped the plate and went to him.
“I'm sorry about the language, I was just wondering what was wrong. You don't seem like yourself.”
“Mind your business,” he gritted after a while.
“No.”
He eyed me, rolled his eyes and went back to his pose, one foot on the ground, the other around his neck while his hands flayed out.
“Alira!”
“I'm sorry but you were all up in my business yesterday and I told you everything, why can't you do the same?”
He unfurled himself and stood up, looking down at me.
“Are you under some weird impression that we're friends here?”
“Well considering the fact that just a few days ago you wanted to do wild things to my body, I would hope so!”
His silence made me elated, like I'd won a huge battle.
But then he was there one moment and gone in the next second, his fleeing figure quickly disappearing down the road.
My heart deflated.
Shrugging, I picked up my stuff and headed to Zade's office.
I need to remind myself why I shouldn't be thinking about anyone else after all.
