Chapter 88 88
Chapter 88 88
All through the night, I couldn't even shut my eyes. How did I end up bearing a child for that dragon male that thinks he's everything? What breed will the child be when it's born, because I had never heard of a dragon and a fae bringing a child into the world?
I was so disorganised upon knowing that, and I was also ashamed that my stupidity reached this level.
The many times that he claimed me, I made sure to take a herb I had always known was a contraceptive through Ofelia, so how didn't it work out? I hid and took them so he didn't know, and now if he was planning to impregnate me, he succeeded.
Not a single sleep crossed my eyes until morning, and I thought to meet the inn owner and ask for the way into the woods so I could go meet the physician I met last night. But the thought of it even made me feel like the worst person on earth.
I rubbed my palm on my belly, gasping as though I was out of breath, “It would feel good being a mother, but this isn't right…it shouldn't have taken place.”
For goddess sake, I was old enough to have a child. If I were a human, I would be so old by now and be getting ready to even die. But I was over a hundred years old and still looked like I was in my twenties as Ofelia.
“I'm not doing it…” I told myself and walked back into the inn. “When I leave, I will settle in a faraway realm after saving my brother and friend, then I will train the child alone without the father getting to know.”
That was the last decision I took, and I would stand by it.
I waited for the inn owner to show up so I could have my breakfast before leaving. I still had a long journey ahead of me, so I didn't need to waste too much time before Dragon Sovereign found me, because by now, he must have begun searching for me.
But I believed it would be less easy to find me since i didnt have my fae soul anymore.
I leaned on the wall, massaging my palm on my belly while picturing how my life would be when I become a mother. I wouldn't want my child to suffer, so maybe I should get to the human land first and take all the money and goodies that I could sell and get a lot of money.
With the amount, I would start a little business.
“Or should I just work for people? Lia is making lots of money with that,” I thought, pouting. “Working for someone will make it less easy for me to be located by anyone, because having a business could make my name known all over,” I muttered and put up a smile. “I should also change my name once I…
My words were cut short the moment the door was kicked heavily, and I shuddered. I stood to my feet, my back still pressed to the wall as it was kicked again and again, before it went down.
“Goddess mother!” I mentioned, my heart sank into my belly at the sight of Orrifin with the inn owner standing at the doorpost. He walked in with the woman in his grasp and dropped him into the room.
I was fidgeting, and hot sweat enveloped me.
How did they find me so easily, even when I didn't have my fae soul?
I was still waiting for Orrifin to say a thing when a great breeze blew in the room, and standing before me was Dragon Sovereign. He had no atom of a smile on his face. The sight of him caused my knees to buckle.
“How long were you planning to keep running? Did you think I wouldn't find you because you lost your fae soul?” he asked, his voice laced in anger and authority.
A lump rose to my throat, and I couldn't even swallow it down. I pressed my palms against the wall, my chest rose and fell in force.
“I'm going to unalive everyone that knew of your escape and hid you, and you're going to watch me do that,” he whispered, and my body froze at that moment. “Maybe, I shouldn’t have been soft with you from the start. You took me for a joke because I had to break all my codes because of you. Do you know what it means to get back my emotional core because of you?”
My lips trembled, and I got to my knees. “Dont…dont hurt anyone….”
He scoffed and walked away from me.
The inn owner had tears all over her face. How could she face the pain of what she didn't know about?
“Please don't hurt anyone.”
“You didn't leave the realm by yourself, so whoever it was that helped you escape will be the first…
“No!!” I screamed, covering my ears. “It's not their fault. I just wanted to go find my peace. I didn't want to live my life being weak and neglected because of my status.”
I slowly raised my face to him, “If you hurt anyone, then I'm going to terminate this child that I'm carrying.”
His eyes grew large, and he released his folded arms. “Davina, you're carrying my child?”
I nodded, “I found out last two nights, and this woman has been taking care of me since then. If you hurt her, then is that how you would thank her for being of help? It will not cost much for me to get rid of it, unless you're going to let everything slide.” I lied, but still meant every word.
He walked closer again and squatted.
The panic in me hadn't dissipated, so while he tucked my hair behind my ear, I just wanted the ground to open and swallow me in.
“But you're going to promise to never run away from me again. I don't want to lose you, Vina,” he said, his expression softened in seconds.
I swallowed the saliva that formed in my mouth, “Then you must not hurt anyone, including myself, my brother, and my friend.”
He nodded without even thinking it through, “Let it be a deal, sunshine. So, can we start going back to the realm?”
Breathing through my mouth, I pointed at the inn owner, “Let her go…”
He quickly turned to Orrifin, who bowed slightly and helped the woman out. He crouched closer to me, “I have to hire the best physician that will look after you, and I promise to make the journey very easy for you.”
“And you aren't going to kill the child and me in the future?” I asked, my voice laced with fear.
He shook his head, “Why would I do that to the family I'm just creating? Common sunshine… you're the air I breathe; my world.”
I knew that was his tactic for me to return to him, because he wanted the child. Although I expected him to reject the child because of my species.
But I wouldn't lose my guard towards him again, because I do not even know my fate after I birth the child.
