Chapter 40 40

Chapter 40 40
DAVINA ELM.

My master had insisted that I sleep in his chamber instead of my little room. I had no room for argument and made myself comfortable on the floor. But he walked closer to me, said nothing, and carefully raised me into his arms.

Staring at his face and then his lips, I bit my lower lip and shut my eyes. The memory of us kissing ourselves was kind of toxic to my mind, so I didn't want to recall it anymore. Yet, I longed to have a taste of his lips again. I wanted to have his arms around my waist, and the heat that overwhelmed me repeated itself again.

He lay me on his bed and lay beside me, then made me rest my head on his muscular shoulder.

I wanted to speak, to remind him that slaves are not treated this way, and that if anyone saw us as we lay, it would cause chaos in his territory. But when he began running his fingers in my hair, sending calmness all over my body, I had no reason to stop him and rather threw my arm across his broad chest, lying comfortably.

How did he get to know that I fall asleep swiftly when someone plays with my hair? That was one thing about me that Ofelia doesn't even know. Once I felt someone touching my hair gently, I fell asleep no matter where I was, which was why I fell asleep whenever my mum visited and was dressing my hair.

It didn't take long for me to sleep off, and soon I began having beautiful dreams of us. I was in the garden, walking around with him and watering the plants together. I didn't even dress like a slave, but as his queen.

Oh, goddess mother! The dream was such a beautiful one that I didn't want to wake up from it. Not until the scream of a female resounded in my dreams, yet my master did not act as though he heard such a noise.

I looked around, searching for where the voice came from, when another male child groaned, which caused my body hair to rise.

The simple move made me sit up on the Sovereign's bed, only to realise that I was the only one there. I glanced around the corners of the room, yet he wasn't around, causing fear to grip me.

What kinda dream was I having? I was so sick to think I could become queen to such a man.

I wiped my face, about to lie down again, when a loud voice called out for Dragon Sovereign, then followed by the cry of a child, loud and agonising.

So that wasn't a dream? Was it real? Then what was going on?

I quickly got down from the bed, running helter-skelter and leaving the chamber. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the whole castle in chaos, everyone running around, voices crying out loud. “What could be the problem? This is midnight…” I thought, unsure what to do.

My eyes landed on a child who got nudged, and she fell to the floor, so I rushed and took her with me. I decided to take every child since they couldn't protect themselves, and then the weak ones. I helped them all towards my little chamber and locked them all up there, while going after others.

In that room, there was water and even some fruits, so they could still keep alive. I somehow hoped that my benevolence to save souls wouldn't be used against me. Still, I didn't stop, while indirectly watching around for Ofelia.

When I couldn't stand it, I screamed her name with the last strength in me, “Ofelia!!!!” but the response I got was a strong pull from behind, followed by a thud sound that caused whoever it was to leave me.

My lips dropped open when I saw Perrin fighting with a huge, tall man, yet in the end, he lost her life.

I stiffened, my blood froze.

“Find a place and hide, I'll find Ofelia,” Perrin said to me in a whisper. But I shook my head. How would I do that with peace of mind? I didn't want Ofelia hurt. “Look, there are Griffins here, Foxes, Vampires, Elves, and even Faes. If you keep wandering about, they will abduct you and use you as a threat against my Sovereign, so you'd better go into hiding now.”

Hearing that, I took off, unsure where exactly to hide since my chamber was filled with the dragons. Returning to the Sovereign's chamber could take a lot of time, and there was no guarantee of reaching there safely.

The number of creatures fighting the dragons meant that they all wanted to wipe out the dragons since they had come to know that Dragon Sovereign had awakened. I shouldn't be hurt because of what I had no business with, so I hurriedly began searching for a place to hide.

Once I found a place that seemed empty of people, I sneaked into the area, breathing endlessly and with my eyes shut. I tried to control my heart rate, so one wouldn't know that I was there, but I had run too much for that to happen so soon.

I leaned on the wall of a smaller building I saw there, and my mind went straight to where Ofelia was. I prayed to the goddess, mother of the faes, to find her and keep her safe for me. I reminded her that she was my only friend who had always been by my side, so she should be safe wherever she was.

But then, I broke into silent sobs. “Dragon Sovereign…” All those creatures are here just because of him, and rendering him helpless and powerless could be their main aim, because they knew he was the heart of the dragons. Was he even okay? He had already left when I woke up.

I hoped the dream I had wasn't the last time I would see a photo of him?

No! I don't want to lose my master, or the faes would take me and execute me with my brother.

I was so deep in tears, fidgeting and trying to endure staying there, when I saw a sword flying towards me. The stupid tears I had in my eyes instantly dried up, and I shifted to the side while the sword stabbed the wall and fell to the ground.

My eyes lit up when I saw what creature it was, “A Fae?”

No way! What should I do?

I didn't think at all and began running, even when I knew he would use his powers to grab me back. I entered every route I saw, less concerned with where it led.

At that moment, I hoped to fall into the river like the other time, and because I was a sea fae, I wouldn't die, but the man would go back because he might not want to risk his life coming into the water.

Yet, I was only matching on dry land, running as fast as I could, and hoping that the man would find it difficult to use his powers.

As though he read my mind, he appeared just before me, and I stumbled backwards. “Haven't you run enough? It was all fun, but I'm wasting so much time and have to take you with me,” he said and winked.

I stepped backwards, "I'm not going with you…” I shouted and turned around.

He chuckled and stupidly came after me still, until I saw the huge rock on the floor and began raising it.

It was so heavy, and he was finding it funny how I was trying to lift the rock.

“I hate it when females stress themselves so much. You could ask for my help,” he laughed mockingly again, swifting closer.

My voice tore into a scream as I finally raised the rock. I didn't understand where I got such strength from, but I carried it into my arms and threw it towards the fae male, then fell back with my butt on the floor.

A loud wince escaped my lips, and I contorted my face. My butt hurt so much.

It was when I began hearing a low groan that I recalled that I had thrown a rock at someone. So I looked towards where he was, and the man was lying flat on the floor, while the rock was still rolling down.
